getting sick while playing fallout 3?

thisjustanother

CAGiversary!
anyone else get really sick while playing fallout 3? i get very nauseated just walking around. i think its just the camera work that makes me get sick. something to do with looking around with the right stick and then the added movement with the left stick causes extreme pain for me.

this was happening to me with oblivion too. i want to love to play these games, but im not wanting to go through another session of throwing up.

Nope

Is this a problem with all games for you or just RPGs? And its kinda weird cause aren't Fallout and Oblivion both 3rd person. You'd think you'd be more affected by first person games. Also, I'd say if you're having problems with these games stay far away from Mirrors Edge.

its just those 2 games from bethesda that make me sick, i can play fps' just fine, i can play just about anything and not get overwhelmed like i do playing these.

They are first person.

I always get sick playing third person games, the camera movements in third person games are just horrible.

I know that some people have issues with games that use a weird FOV. I remember it especially being a big topic when Half-Life 2 first came out. Here is an example of someone who had an issue like that:

Try googling and see if you find anyone else who had issues with Fallout and if they were able to fix it. If you were on PC there might be a mod or something but I kind of doubt you can change any of the view or display options on the 360.

I do not have any problems with Fallout 3 or Oblivion. Certain games do give me a headache though, like Bioshock. I do think it has something to do with the FOV.

You can play first or third person

I rarely get nauseated even after hours and hours of playing. I think the only two games that have made me feel sick were Half Life 2 and Metroid 3: Corruption.

take a dramamine - seriously! also, try eating before you play (I know this is counter-intuitive, but it works for me. empty stomach, and I'm nauseous in minutes, but after a meal, I can play for a good while...)

Bad Company had the most abysmal field of view of any game i've played. Closest game i've played to giving my a headache.

have you tried messing with the colors on your tv a bit?

i personally have never gotten this or motion sickness so i cant talk from experience and i feel horrible for you.
tried turning the lights on brighter in your gaming area?

i wish you luck

A dramamine will probably work since it seems like a form of motion sickness. I don't have that problem while playing games, but I do get motion sickness if I try to read/play games, etc. while riding in a car and I used to take dramamines when I was a kid (now I just don't do that shit while in a car :p).

i get real bad motion sickness but most games do not bother me. Descent on PC was by far the worst for me lol 5mins and i was about to pass out.

as chrisnsally eat before you play!!! I also make sure to keep liquids on hand always seems to help me if i start feeling yucky and sometimes you just have to stop and go do something else.

Funny that people are recommending Dramamine to play Fallout. And here I thought that pill-popping was just something within the game!

My wife gets sick watching, let alone playing, any fast-motion 3D game. Especially racing games, but also person shooters and the like. I don't have that problem except when playing such games on a portable while on a train or bus.

I never feel motion sickness when I play games, but I do occasionally when I watch. At least when I play I'm in control of the camera so I know where it's moving. Maybe that's a factor for your wife as well.

I get BAD motion sickness in vehicles, as far as games, the guitar hero games dont agree to well with me,not so much with sickness but it really messes with my eyes. Fallout 3 (which i think is a phenominal game, oblibion too) does not make me sick but what the person above said works wonders for the motion sickness i get in cars. It may not make sense but i feel ALOT better on a full stomach in a car then on an empty one, so that could very well carry over to game motion sickness too. Just dont eat squirell on a stick or iguana on a stick, sugar bombs, or salsbury steak they will give you rad poisioning :)
