GOG Deals Thread

I missed out on Another World (Out of this World)? :[

Just going to have to add this thread to my list of things to check daily. Wasn't aware GOG did much in the way of sales outside of the weekend ones I get emails about.

Not a bad idea in theory, but today is either the next-to-last or next-to-next-to-last day of the sale :( I could buy cheap classics for the rest of the month if they were willing. Ooh yeah.

I wish they'd have a recap sale, with all of the games that have won. That'd be pretty cool. I didn't start checking until midway through the sales.
I got so excited about Sanitarium. I mean 60% off! And then, I realized it will be 50% off come New Year's and the difference is only a dollar and I probably wont get around to it until then at the very earliest. So pass for now. GOG's psychological game almost got me.
How dare you! Aren't you aware you're on Cheap Ass Hoarder? This isn't Cheap Ass Gamer.. oh wait.. ;)

Fair enough. It's not like I don't have a backlog of endless titles to go through anyway. Still, always wanted to play through and finish Another World. A good friend of mine once shot a movie of himself playing through it because its one of his favorite games of all time. I've forgotten most of the tricks thankfully, because the game is gorgeous and absolutely warrants a playthrough.

OP updated.

Caved in and grabbed Sanitarium. The genre is totally my thing, but a game with an isometric view has never really hit me as far as being "creepy" and whatnot. Things feel too detached when the camera is so far away (which is why I love the dark scariness/jumpiness of Fallout 3 even though I love the old ones too). Still, for $4 I'm gonna let the game do it's best to prove me wrong. At the very least I know it's a good game, just maybe not as scary as I'd like it.

Incredible Machine tomorrow? Dammit GOG, you're getting too much of my money. I played that game so much as a little kid...
Has anyone ever played Might and Magic?
Yes. 1-6 are amazing and well worth the price for that collection. 1 and 2, however, are truly old school as they were mainly on the Commodore 64 and the Amiga. 3 was released on PC as well as SNES and it featured a graphical upgrade to the series. (Isles of Terra was still good) 4 and 5 combined to make World of Xeen. I never played much of those, but they played just like 3.

Mandate of Heaven is where it really shines though. I could get lost playing that game for hours upon hours on end.

If you love old school RPGs, that's a definite buy my friend.

OP updated.

Really disappointed on the final pair of games for the last day of the sale tomorrow. Outcast has some great reviews, but it just doesn't look that interesting to me, and Pyschonauts has been MUCH cheaper elsewhere. This is DRM free, but it's going to be $5.99 versus it's $1.99 price point elsewhere (not to mention it was just DRM free in an indie bundle).

Ah well.

Same here, disappointed at Anachronox not being included . Most people probably got Psychonauts from the last Humble Bundle.. which came DRM-free AND with a Steam key. I think the Steam version is better anyway, the DRM-free version is missing the latest patch, not sure if they got around to releasing it.

Exactly. I have one Steam key from buying it on Amazon for $1.99, one Steam key from the bundle, and a DRM free version from the bundle. GOG really wasn't thinking when they set up the final day; otherwise Pyschonauts would be blowing Outcast out of the water.

It's also silly that it's normally $9.99.

I was really hoping for some D&D classics on the last day. Wishful thinking I guess.

Outcast is a fantastic game. I tried playing it when it first came out, but my computer couldn't handle it at the time. Played it again a few years ago, and loved it. It's a great third person shooter with unique voxel graphics, great music, and a neat story.

Umm... it might not be over. Mdyzzle over at GOG.com posted that Thursday would be the final "Bonus Round". His next post mentions "two fantastic games released a few years ago". Most likely a final head to head between two newer games along with whatever they release for the day.

I kinda wonder if the final battle won't be Heroes of Might & Magic 5 vs Assassin's Creed Directors Cut. One of the GOG staff vaguely mentioned on their forums that they were going to end it with a bang. I really want it to be HOMM 5.

I don't think Assassin's Creed DX will be in it. That was on sale a week or so before along with other Ubisoft titles. HOMM? Maybe or maybe not. They already had a Might and Magic game for sale on day 1 or 2.

Still, who knows?

Oh man! I spent countless hours playing The Incredible Machine 2. That was so much fun. I remember I later bought a game called The Incredible Toon Machine which was awesome.
You can see the countdown on the page. When the clock hits zero the deal goes live.
LOL for some reason I never saw that small countdown, and I've been on that page a few times already. I think it's time I got glasses.

It's Torchlight vs. Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

I'd think most people have Torchlight by now, especially now that you get it for free for preordering Torchlight 2 on Steam. Would've been much better if the RPG were Anachronox ;) but that technically isn't a "new release" on GOG.

Also, kind of wish the base price for Chronicles of Riddick wasn't so high. $6 isn't bad though for a DRM-free copy (if it wins). I think all other versions have TAGES.

dark athena is a new game? from 2009?
dark athena is a new game? from 2009?
It's not a new game. I think by "new releases" they meant games that weren't available to buy on GOG. If you check the pages for Torchlight and Riddick, you can't even buy them yet.

That's what most people are saying on the GOG forum. I've only bought 1 game from their summer promo and I'd hoped they would have Anachronox vs Theme Hospital. Oh well, I don't own either game so I'll get buy the one that wins :) I've wanted to get Torchlight for a while and I loved the Riddick movies (Pitch Black was the best) so I'd like to give it a try.

Torchlight is free if your pre-order Torchlight 2 from Steam for $20. And I'm sure it's been on sale cheaper from elsewhere. I voted for The Chronicles of Riddick as I don't think it's been on sale for cheap. I think Gamefly recently had it for $9 but I'd rather support GOG.

The first game (Escape from Butcher Bay) was actually better received than the live action movie sequel. Personally I liked the the movie but it can be hard to follow I suppose.

This game put Starbreeze on the map. (They later did The Darkness 1 and the FPS Syndicate). It's currently sitting in my backlog for Xbox 360 but I'll get to it sometime.

Torchlight drops to chump change virtually every time Steam has a massive sale (... where's that summer sale ...) and I already have it by virtue of that, so Riddick it is.

Riddick has been $5 on Steam, and $3 on GamersGate before, but both use TAGES DRM.

Torchlight looks cool (tbh I've only heard of it, never even looked at it), but gosh, $14.99 normally? I might have caved for $9.99 if it won since I don't really feel like spending $20 on Steam for the second one too and to get it DRM free, but that price is just too much. GOG is usually pretty awesome; it's too bad they tend to overprice their "new" games.

Really unsure if I'd jump on Riddick or not... The movies were fun to watch, but I was never really head over heels about the storyline. Are they really only fun to people who were big fans of the movies? I mean, it comes with two games too; that's a plus. Just not sure if it's worth $7 to me yet.
+1 for Outcast. Higher-resolution patch efforts chronicled here.

Great game even in low-res...and remember, it's family-friendly.
Broken download links (seeing as Megaupload is still in court).

It's $15 if you host/get in on a 4-Pack buy for TorchLight 2,and you get the original game as well.

I had never seen the movies when I played the first one, Butcher Bay, and I thought the game was great.

Hm, I'll have to think about it then. When does that offer end?

Dammit, you're supposed to tell me "Oh that game sucks. Only good for diehard fans of the movie." I'm broke here!

My vote goes for Riddick, already have Torchlight on Steam and getting the DRM-free version of Riddick seems like a better deal.

edit: And Idiotekque, I suposse the TL2+TL offer ends when they release the game, Runic said late summer as an estimate. There is a TL2-4pack group on the Steam Group thread, just need 2 more members to do it.
Anyone have a non-megaupload link for that patch? Just bought the game, and I'd love to try the patch.. but Megaupload links are useless.
Here's a link to another post on the thread. The mediafire link shows the patch file but I didn't try to download it (I have dial-up speed and it would take forever).
Gog says riddick mp does not work any reason why?
No clue.

Was the MP functionality pulled from the GOG version?

If "no" - Did Atari and/or Starbreeze pull the servers on the game?
Seriously, most games that don't have many players playing, once the servers are pulled, forget it.

A consolidated post, with everything in one spot.

And yeah you had to go looking for it, even then there are some glitches with the patch so you just might want to look over those 12 pages if you plan on using it to save yourself some future headache.

Just sayin'. ;)

Sorry for the late OP update. Haven't been able to get on the computer all day.

Picked up Riddick; figured for $6 it was too good to pass up being DRM free.

I was stoked at Darkstar One being on sale when I saw the new sale. I am a massive Freelancer fan, and when that game was coming out it looked absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I go on the page and see the terrible reviews about every system looking the same, etc etc... Too bad, maybe I'd bite at $2.39 but not at $5. Sounds like it was a major flop.

OP updated, reformatted, etc.

Legend of Grimrock is on sale for 50% off, and Riddick and Torchlight are still on sale. I have no idea how long these sales are going to last, so if anyone knows, let me know and I'll add it to the OP. Otherwise, buy quick if you want these.

Just as a heads up, I didn't want to post this outside of the thread because I didn't know if that was okay so I'll post it here. Alan wake series is on sale on GOG for 66% off if you get both alan wake and alan wake's american nightmare together so thats only $15.28, or its 50% off individually so $7.49 of alan wake's american nightmare or $14.99 for alan wake, honestly either way its a steal for these games and the lowest I've seen on american nightmare. So hurry up its a summer gem promo so its only for 24 hours, it ends tomorrow. Here is the link
http://www.gog.com/en/promo/alan_wake_series_gem_promo/
Enjoy!

You have dial-up speed or do you actually have dial-up? (not mocking, genuinely curious if you actually have dial-up)

Also, where are all the deals on the racing games? Did I miss them during the Face-Off promo?
