GOG Deals Thread

WARNING: THERE ARE ABOUT FIVE HOURS LEFT TO GET THE ENHANCED EDITION UPDATE FOR THREE BUCKS EACH.

So if you really wanted these, get 'em. Right now.

Seems IwD EE is the "must get" here. According to reviews, the EE solved a lot of issues not even mods did.

Edit: I grabed BG1 & 2 EE too.

If any CAG is feeling generous this fine Friday I'd love to buy the EEs at the reduced price but dont have the originals on gog. I know time is running out but I'm good for it, CAG's honor!

Interesting... four of the five Sherlock Holmes games are regionally priced for me. Testament is $10.59, while Jack the Ripper, The Awakened and Nemesis are 5.79. Secret of the Silver Earring is not regionally priced and costs $10. So I can buy all the games at a huge discount. Neat, but I already own most of those on Steam...

PutinGOG has them cheaper....

So, ummm...theoretically speaking, how does one go about obtaining PutinGOG pricing? Is it as simple as using a VPN to access the Russian store with your own account? Or do you need to have a second account (either one you created yourself, or a second person living in Russia) gift the games to you?

This is all for my personal edification, of course. I have no intention of using any knowledge that I may acquire to circumvent the pricing that GOG has decided is appropriate for me. Because doing so would be wrong.

It's just that I like to learn something new every day.

Da.

Yeah, I actually thought about posting that earlier. But then...

Worth noting though, that is the lowest that those Star Trek games have been on GOG. I've got some credit on GOG, so I might just burn some of it on those games.

Yeah, I've got 6 bucks in GOG credit.

During the last Insomnia sale, there was a bundle with the Baulder's Gate/Icewind Dale Enhanced Editions @75% off. Like the total degenerate game buyer that I am, i bought it. Then 10 days later they had the bundle for 85% off ($6 difference). Almost everybody who bought the bundle during the Insomnia sale instantly felt like a complete sucker when the new 85% off sale started. As did I.

But I was just gonna chalk it up as one of those life lessons that will surely make me a better person one day. That is, until I saw several people posting in the GOG forums that they had successfully lobbied GOG for a refund (even though such an eventuality isn't covered by their refund policy). So I said to myself, "what the hell, what have I got to lose". So I sent a refund request.

To read the rest of the story, click on the spoiler below.

They said OK

I can't be bothered to VPN DRM free shit. Too much work for old GOG crap and if you're gonna be shady anyway then just torrent the damned thing.

Less than 3 if you putin price those.
An excellent suggestion for most people.

Tragically though, the credit that they gave me doesn't seem to appear when I log on in the Russian store. Not sure what's up with that. But it means that I am unable to screw over GOG twice on the same purchase. I must choose between using the credit that I guilted them into giving me, or logging onto the Putain store and buying at commie prices.

Interplay's one of those companies that doesn't have regional pricing for me, boo hoo.

All I'm missing is the Star Trek games, guess I'll wait until the promo's almost over.

Backlogging DRM free games is just sad. There's not even a GOG user profile page people can look at to see your e-peen. You could tell me you have 5,000 games on GOG and I'd believe it. fuck if I know. There's no way to check.

There is a virtual shelf though....look at that sexy box pr0n.

Eh. A backlog is a backlog. They all make us feel warm and tingly, right?

Back me up here, CAGs.

CAGs?

How bout I just send you guys a photoshop of a bunch of old games on a fake wooden virtual shelf. Then you have your shelfie to look at and pet, you can sleep well at night and you can tell people you have a kajillion games and GOG and make them all jelly of your DRM free collection that they'd probably just torrent anyway.

It's a win win all around. You save money, can brag about something that no one can disprove and don't give money to dirty foreigners who are militantly DRM Freedom and seek the destruction of Steam.

Do we still get to feel warm and fuzzy?

That's what 'visual novels' are for.
No, you're confusing that with "warm and greasy." Rookie mistake.

Yeah, I think I overpaid for Starfleet Command by something like $1.

<toaster>
That's okay. I'll overpay by $1 again if they get off their butts and release Starfleet Command II, Orion Pirates, and Starfleet Command III. Oh, and Armada and Armada II. You know people are still selling CD-ROMs of Armada II on ebay for $50+?!
</toaster>

Seriously, though, I have an obscene GOG backlog. Even if I eliminate things I'll probably never play or have already played and probably won't replay, I'm sitting at close to 100. It doesn't really make me feel anything except that I don't have enough time in my life to play games. I don't imagine anyone else feels the same. :wall:

My gog backlog is close to 150 I believe. I like old games on GOG....prefer it to Steam. They really need to keep providing all that extra documentation and soundtracks and stuff though. That stuff is pretty cool IMHO.

They don't really include soundtracks anymore. More devs are selling those as DLC now. -_-

And GOG backlog... I have over 200 in the backlog... hahahahahahahahafuck

Yes, a backlog is a backlog - especially if it's a PC gaming backlog. ;)

Not every PC game winds up on Steam anyways - i.e. Newer EA games often are Origin only since BF3; Arcanum is only on GOG these days; and Blizzard games flat-out require Battle.Net.

UbiSoft sucks w/ discounting their Steam-versions of games, so you might as well get them on UPLAY in most instances.

So, while we might want to stick w/ one PC service like Steam - chances are, there's some awesome game forced to some Non-Steam service, forcing us to have no real choice in the matter so that we have to use another PC service for a specific game we really want to play that damn bad.

EDIT:

I have 112 games on GOG.

113 for me (honestly not sure how that happened) but looking to add a couple more from the interplay sale if anyone has all of them and can purchase at gift price.

Yeah, I have the whole pack. I can help you out.

Once you've made a final decision on which games you want, send me a PM and we'll get it done.

Yeah, that's how it starts, and now you're in way too deep. :fridge:
Looking closer at my purchases it seems like it's mostly a combination of old games I already own on cd and ones that I might have acquired by unsavory means in my youth. I've expanded to interesting looking oldies, most not on steam, and God help me but I like the wooden shelf. Now to actually play a few of them...

Or, you know, get it from Steam where a +1 means your epeen will be so ever slightly bigger.

WHITE KNIGHTS, COME AT ME BROS!
lol do we even have GOG white knights here? I mean, I'm one of the biggest GOG whores on this site, and even I make fun of them.

I don't have SW 2013 on GOG, but I do own Hard Redux Extended + SW 2013 on Steam - so I'll likely I'll end-up with HR Redux on Steam at some point in time soon.

But, in case some have SW 2013 on GOG and they don't mind supporting GOG + using GOG's service - just so they know, there is a Loyalty program also on GOG in getting a 85% off cheap HR Redux.

Most GOG white knights wouldn't dare post here. Just like most people that prefer steam won't post on the GOG forums. Too much opposition
