I'll post some info later.
I didn't see a thread, either, but I am often wrong about stuff.

Anyway, there's yet another workout game coming to the Wii. I am a sucker (zing) for these things. I am not sure if it's everywhere, but if you order this game from amazon.. you get a free jumprope! :D http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0FYJTJAZV44Q10XGVRBT

It's actually not needed for the game, so that's cool .. I suppose?
ANYWAY, I enjoyed My Fitness Coach to a certain extent..but without any balance board support the game was just.. cheap.

This game at LEAST uses the balance board..and I have to say, it looks bright and colorful. (Yes, it looks good for a workout AND a Wii game)

It MSRP at $30, which is good for a game like this. The EA Active game DOES look better, but this may be another good alternative.

You also get a 7 day free trial at a Gold's Gym.

So, thoughts?
I will assist so lilboo and strell could both play Double Dutch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6Tub5_NXOA
Lazy ass fuckers. I could school all those damn punks in double dutch while hog tied and blind folded. Try sustaining a double dutch going on inside a double dutch then we'll talk. And I didn't even have to grow up in the hood. :bomb:

I picked this up...no jump rope though!! Didn't pre-order it..

It's.. it's... it's actually fun.
Def worth $30. It's $20 on Amazon right now...

Makes me kind of hype of Punch-Out in a few weeks.
But, yeah. This game is def pretty solid. Dual Remotes = Win

Bought mine off of Amazon a week or so ago, finally got around to getting it out of my apartment's office and it came with the jump rope. No idea how I'm going to use it without inevitably hitting the ceiling fan and ripping it off the ceiling. At least I'm on the bottom floor so I won't be disturbing anyone with my jumping.

I mentioned this in relation to balance board comments in another thread, but I like this game. And shape boxing kicks my ass way more than I ever thought it would. The balance board parts of the game feel kind of unecessary, but they work well enough. What's really fun is the constant movement to the beat of the music. The game is basically like DDR/Rock Band but with punching.

I'm also suprised at how polished it looks - they could have gotten away with a much cheaper look but it's bright and clean and clear and the design elements are nice.

For those that have played the game - is it a better workout than the boxing in Wii Fit? In Wii Fit boxing, you stop so frequently so the instructor can show you the next few moves.

Yeah. So far on the beginner work outs..they are about 15 minutes split into 2 sections. The first half would be like 7 minutes, the second half would be 8.

I've been doing hardcore workouts and they whup my ass. A lot more intense than the boxing on Wii Fit. It's a good 20-30 minute workout and I usually run through a couple of other routines. Weight loss has been about a lb/day with it.

Looks like this will be around $19.99 at Target, BestBuy, TRU next week. Might have to pick up a copy and try it out.

I was just "playing" WiiFit today and I really like the shadow boxing, so I'm definitely picking this up, especially for only $20. Am I understanding it correctly, though, that the boxing routines in Golds Gym don't use the balance board? I like that they do in WiiFit, so if that's true that's a bit disappointing.

Is the new price a universal drop? If so I'd like to pick it up at Gamestop as I have lots of credit there.

I'm thinking of picking this up for 20 for my wife. She actually uses wii fit and it sounds like this might fill in some of the letdowns in the cardio.

The boxing does not use the balance board. However, do not be disappointed. It works VERY well with duel remotes. The game even recommends you to use 2 remotes instead of remote + nunchuk

It's def a good workout and I've only played the intermediate stuff.
I know that the game will have balance board support, what support I'm not sure
The balance board is only used in 4 additional exercises. There's an exercise mode and basically turning the balance board unlocks 4 more exercises. The exercises are pretty much similar to Wii Fit's.. like push ups, sit ups, squats..and something else.

This is very true. It doesn't offer as much as Wii Fit does..but..it def is better for a workout.

I picked this up yesterday at BB - for $20, I couldn't resist, especially with the positive comments I've read in this thread (and the 4.5/5 star rating on Amazon). So far so good - I got sick of My Fitness Coach after a few weeks, so hopefully this one holds my interest for a bit longer (although I'm honestly not sure what will happen once EA Sports Active comes out!).

The more I look at EA Sports Active... I really don't think I'm interested in that. It's VERY Wii Fit'ish.. meaning, I don't think it's going to provide an actual workout

Yeah, I agree with you lilboo. The EA Sports Active hasnt really caught my attention. Seems like EA just created a game so they could try and cash in, like Nintendo did with Wii Fit. Guess we will see what its like after people post reviews on it. :D

That's the thing - I honestly think that EA Sports Active will actually provide a workout. As much as I enjoy the yoga and balance exercises in Wii Fit, I need exercises that keep an elevated heart rate and get me sweating. Yes, there was jogging and the somewhat crappy cardio boxing in Wii Fit, but you couldn't string anything together, so I wasted lord knows how much time choosing the next exercise to do. From what I've read about EASA, it strings stuff together in a program (that can be edited based on what you like/don't like), which is definitely appealing. Also, the exercises they have you do seem to be more on the "get your fat ass moving" side of things instead of "let's stretch and find our center!"

Anywho, I preordered it, so it better be good. :)

Definitely. I don't typically go the EB route, but they had (and still have) the deal where you can trade (3) games and get EA Sports Active for free, and since I had (3) games that I don't touch anymore (that really didn't cost me much of anything), I said "why not?," especially after reading the fatty journals on the website (which, honestly, I'm sure are heavily edited by EA) as well as other previews. Otherwise, I would have waited for the reviews.

In the meantime, though, I did day 2 of Gold's Gym and my arms and back hurt. Yay Advil!

Just tried the game after purchasing it last weekend for $20 at Best Buy (saw it at Target the other day for $20 as well). I adored Wii Fit, and it got me exercising and having an active lifestyle for the first time ever. So, after performing a system update, which Cardio Workout required me to do, I started learning about jabs and cross-punches. I enjoyed the activity and enjoyed the constant movement it recommends. I have no idea if it really senses by back and forth movement at this point. As far as that goes, I compare it to an exercise video, during which there is no input from your actions.

It quickly became obvious that the game is primarily about Shape Boxing and boxing-related activities. The day I purchased the game and opened the manual, I was concerned only seeing a screenshot for a boxing game. Still, I'm not too concerned, as the Wii Fit boxing was my favorite activity.

All I have to offer right now is first impressions, but I'm pretty pleased with the game so far. The $20 price-point was entirely fair.

I picked this up today and tried the training exercises. So far, it seems to work well.

I have a couple of very important questions for people that have this game. I read somewhere that you can play a game where you run and punch a bear. How do you unlock this?

Also, I saw a panda in the shop that costs 50,000 in gold. What is the purpose of this panda? Can you box with it? I'm thinking that I'll save up all of my gold for the panda.

Just worked out with this for the first time in a while. I was impressed all over again, for it seems to me you get a greater workout through Gold's Gym Cardio Workout than with Wii Fit. I think part of it comes down to the duration of the exercises in Gold's Gym. So many of Wii Fit's exercises are less than one minute, and what with the time wasted switching between exercises, some of the momentum is lost. Gold's Gym's exercises are altogether longer, and what with the combination of non-stop upper and lower body movement, the quality of the exercise is immediately noticeable.
Ok I picked this up today from the Gamecrazy offer for 20 dollars.. Do I really need the balance board?!?!?!
While the balance board is not required to enjoy the game, if you happen to have it, it only adds to the overall experience. There are four exercises you unlock with the Wii Balance Board. Today was the first day I tried hooking up the Balance Board, and I was very happy to discover that the four exercises you unlock are not found in Wii Fit (which I'm sure is a deliberate move on the developer of Gold's Gym). The four exercises are push-ups; an abdominal exercises (you lie on your back with your hands behind your head, lifting up both legs simulatenously); squats; and an exercise I haven't tried yet during which you lie on your stomach and it sort of looks like you lift your legs. It says it strengthens your back.

All in all, I'm really enjoying Gold's Gym Cardio Workout, and I find it a quality title to add to the library of someone who enjoys working out with the Wii.
Push-ups, crunches, aaand squats are indeed in Wii Fit
The way Gold's Gym has you do them is different. You can't do dedicated push-ups in Wii Fit. It combines it with the side-plank. The crunches are a variation as well as the squats. I found the Gold's Gym way better, more intense, and definitely longer. 3 minutes per exercise to Wii Fit's minute or so.
