Goozex game trading site - New coupon for free games and other news

I just received my copy of Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance(gba) which was supposed to be cart only. Much to my surprise the game arrived complete with EVERYTHING and in mint condition... not bad for 150 points.

If anyone from CAG sent that to me, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Eh, the glut of crappy old sport games on Goozex I predicted is already starting to come true. Roughly 1/3 of the games listed on the site are now sport games and that percentage will probably continue to rise due to old sport games having too high of point values.
Yes, the problem is that people see that they are going for high points values and put them up, but nobody (well, almost nobody) is actually going to request the games for those prices, so they stay in the system while the good games disappear pretty quickly.

Still, I don't really think it's that huge of a problem, especially since only one instance of a particular game is displayed, no matter how many copies are available.

just a question.

What is the average time for the system to match you to a game?

It used to take a couple hours for an available game to match after you added it to your requests, but my last two took much less. I added a couple games to my request list but then a few minutes later I went back to remove one of them (I had second thoughts about one) and it had already matched. It took maybe 3 or 4 minutes tops.

Luckily the system chooses to request complete games by default or I'd be totally pissed. It's not a huge deal anyways because it's a 100 point game, but I just thought it was odd that the system was now matching me to games so quickly.

It might run on cycles...say every 3 or 4 hours the site searches through all requests and all availables and matches them.
That seems to be the case, so ManChowder probably happened to add the game to his list just before the cycle started.
Forgot to say this in my first post, but I've suspected this. I added a game one time and it was matched in about 30 minutes but I've also had it take upwards of 3 hours...so...I think I'm right. But not really sure

Hi everyone,

First about sports games...I think the beauty of Goozex is that it really is supply and demand type of stuff. Meaning that if you put up games that nobody wants or at that point value nobody will take it (i.e. older sports games)...

However, that doesn't mean the only games in demand are new titles, because I've seen a lot of trades in the 100 to 200 point range. I think people find the site useful to get the games they always wanted to play but couldn't b/c of time or cost. Now they can pick it up cheap. A couple of examples that come to mind are the Mortal Kombat games, Armed & Dangerous, movie games, etc...

imho, sport games don't really add much more from the previous year except for updated rosters...in fact I've read that the new madden is really a step back and the Fifa games have been going down in quality vs. winning eleven...but in the end the publishers have done a really good job marketing the games so that you feel you have to own the latest year...

In the end, the goozex market will demand what's traded or not...the idea that you can dump old sports games and get chromehounds isn't going to fly...

One a side note, if you have a specific question for me like about specific trades or system processes please PM me...this is the fastest way I can get back to you...

ok thanks...!

Really looking forward to when PC game trading gets activated. I went through my collection today and have several games ready to go up. How will the listing work? Most of my PC games I want to put up are old (some rare). Where does goozex get their info for games?

"closed by system"
What does that mean? I logged in today to say the game never arrived and I'm presented with that. I didn't get the points back for it, either.
"closed by system"

I think that means that you waited too long to report the game as not arriving, and the system automatically gave the other guy positive feedback.
I don't remember how many days it is before that happens though. I have one game that has been 10 days since the ship date and I've received nothing, so I may have to report that one as a no-show in a day or two.

I would PM Goozex and see if he can help you out with getting back your points.

EDIT: what was the guy's name? (if we are allowed to announce that here) I looked at the feedback for the guy that I'm waiting on and he has sent out 5 games with no feedback. If I remember right he had 3 or so games out when I was matched to him... you figure one of those would have cleared.

Manchowder is right. "Closed by System" is to help the sender get positive feedback in the case the receiver doesn't do it for whatever reason. This happens after 16 days. You can report game not received after 10 and we recommend waiting another 2 days.

If something like your situation comes up, just email feedback "at" goozex so we can make a record of it and run it through our refund process.

I hope that helps!

I haven't posted in this thread for a bit, but I just wanted to say how happy I've been with Goozex. I've been able to pick up a few GC games to have for when my Wii arrives.

I'd just like to request once again an expansion of the wishlist...100 games isn't really enough. I have to delete games I want every day in order to add other games to my list...if we could have 300 or so games in our list, I could just add all the games I want, buy a ton of credits, and then not have to log into the site every day to delete/add games from my wanted list according to what is currently available on the site.

i would say that 100 games is more then enough for most people maybe 150. I mean if you put say each person could have 500 games most of these people will be requesting games and dont have enough pts or credits making it seem that some games are in higher request then others

I mean 100 people could put 100 games on their list and one of those games Final fantasy 4 GBA on their list even though that would be like the 80th or 90th pick of the 100 games while only 1 or 2 has it on the top 5

so instead of having 2 people really wanting this game it looks like 100 people want this game forcing up fake demand for the game.

i would love for people to start to toss up newer games on this site. I see that people are requesting Contact and i would love to Give them contact if i knew i would get Magical starsign in return.

also i got a question

is there certain days that games drop in vaule if they do drop or is it just all random

I just joined and I'm impressed with the layout. I too am looking forward to seeing PC titles on the site.

Will hardware ever be listed?

thanks,

RC

I think limiting it to 100 is a good idea. I think I have somewhere around 15-20 sitting in my request...but you have to put a limit somewhere. If you get a finger on every single release then it isn't really fair to the rest of the community. It's like standing in the line for 20 different rides at the fair all at once. It might take you a bit longer, but just go with what you have requested already and then move onto the other ones later.

A couple quick things:

I really wish there was a way to delineate between originals and players choice/greatest hits/platinum hits. I know its a tad more anal than disc only vs complete, but thered be a ton more games in my queue if I knew.

Also, can you switch it so that a game you have sent out can be re-added to the list before the game arrives? I have multiples of some games, and it sucks to have to wait for the person to click that they got it before I add it again. It says the game is already on your list even though its pending out

I don't want many new releases...but there are maybe 100 PSX games out of the several THOUSAND in existence that I want on my list. Then there are maybe another hundred cart-only GBA games out of several thousand that I want on my list. Then there are probably 50 older PS2 games I want...10 or 15 Gamecube games...maybe 20 Xbox games...10 or 20 DS games...10 or 20 PSP games...and when the Wii comes out...there will probably be 10 or 20 games I want on my list for that system. I don't think that's unreasonable. My wantlist in my sig here has 346 different games listed on it and it's incomplete. Now maybe not everyone collects as many games as I do, but I have well over a thousand console games in my collection and they're only a drop in the bucket compared to the games I want to own.

The other problem with only having 100 games in your wantlist, is if you pick obscure games, no one is ever going to list any of them, so you're stuck waiting until the end of time for some one to list some obscure PSX or GBA games. I've been #1 for a bunch of games since the site opened but no one has ever listed them. I don't think it really matters if you are 1st or 100th in line for a game, it's not like if I'm #1 for 100 different games I can get all 100 games at once anyway. People are limited by their available trade slots. I'm #1 for several games that I've missed in the last couple weeks because I didn't have any open trade slots and I have 10 trade slots right now. They fill up pretty fast when people take 2 weeks to ship a game, not to mention the constant time wasters that list games, then delete them after 2 days of taking up one of my trade slots with a pending match.

Okay, it looks like PC trading went up. I've already put several games up for trade. But I have a question, most of my PC games are in their jewl case with the manual, does that mean I choose the second option on their condition? What if they are in their jewl case but no manual but never came with a manual? A FAQ concering PC games would be awesome, especially serial numbers and the like.

Anyway, if anyone is curious here's my PC games I put up. All in good conditon.

Battlefield 1942 (not using the serial anymore)

Command and Conquer: Red Alert (The origional)

Myst: Masterpiece Edition (awesome game if no one has played it yet, works with XP just fine)

Neverwinter Nights: Diamond (Wow, just 200 points for this? This is NWN with all expansions and three modules:Kingmaker,Shadowguard and Witch's Wake. I think this is a steal at 200 points.)

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Tachyon: The Fringe (Bruce Campbell does the voice overs for this!)

I see what you mean Rictor, I wasn't thinking about older games that are rarely listed.

Also, looks like PC trading has been launched. Too bad it'll be anotehr 12 hours before I can get home and get them all listed. It would be great if Goozex logged on here and let us know what exactly the different categories mean for PC games....Because shipping the box also is hard since it is easily damaged

The FAQ is being put in place right now. To answer your question now here are our guidlines for Matrix Match and shipping:
1. Disc + Jewel Case = Disc Only
2. Disc + Jewel Case + Manual = Disc + Manual
3. Disc + Jewel Case + Manaul + Original box = Full Package

To save on shipping costs all the PC games that I just put up are Disc + Manual. I recommend as the receiver of PC games that you select Disc Only and then PM the sender to see if they are willing to send the original box. You may find a slow process of getting matched if all your requests are for full package -- especially for older games that came in those huge boxes...

I'll be checking back a lot today on CAG so I can answer quickly any questions or concerns, mainly about PC games...

Another important thing I forgot to mention is that our content provider doesn't provide us with the PC minimum requirements...so it is up to you find out if your computer can handle the game. You can find out on Amazon the game's system requirements.

It looks like Goozex is missing some PC games. Some I can understand like the MMO's. Everquest and WoW.

But why all The Sims and Sims 2 games for PC?
It looks like Goozex is missing some PC games. Some I can understand like the MMO's. Everquest and WoW.

We took out a lot of games that we considered to be MMOs. Sims fell into that list and I double checked that on various MMO list sites.
Really? The Sims has some kind of paid online service?
I never played the Sims, but it consistently showed up on MMO lists.

The sims? Are you sure your not thinking of The Sims Online? I have all the sims 1 and 2 and it's definitely not a MMO. You can download new items from the net for it but some PC games are like that anyway.

I mean, if you guys are uncomftable putting those on your service, I respect that. But they aren't MMOs.

EDIT: To be more clear, The Sims Online is a seperate game from Sims 1 and 2 for the PC. Those MMO sites are probably referring to that. If not, I can only sermise that they mean that you can download addition content online for both games and expansions. But you don't pay a service fee for Sims1/2 and you don't need to log in to play, nor do you play with other people.

so what if you have a pc game that doesn't have an original jewell case. For example I bought a "new" copy of a game from Gamestop that had the box, a disc in a sleeve, and only part of the instructions... would it be possible to trade this or will the jewell case+ artwork be a requirement?

EDIT: Also, would PC games that were sold as Jewell case only be considered disc only?

What I think happened with the Sims is that Sims Online made the list and b/c its in a series we just removed the entire series. I just changed it so that Sims 1, 2 & 2 expansion packs are available for trade.

Thanks for checking us on that!

Yes. There are a lot of PC games that didn't come with jewel cases and just the paper sleeves. So let me rephrase a bit:

1. Disc Only = Disc + optional jewel case
2. Disc + Manual = Disc + Manual + optional jewel case
3. Full Package = Disc + Manual + original box + optional jewel case

Games sold only as Disc + Jewel Case = Disc only

Hope that helps. Sorry for not being clear before.

Quick question for CAG users. I have a new coupon that will expire on December 31st. Would you prefer that I post it on this thread or ask CheapyD for permission to post on a new thread?

Well, I'm just a newbie here but I think I'd rather have it on a new thread so people will notice it more and anyway this thread is getting a little long in the tooth so perhaps we could just move the goozex chat over to a new post.

But whatever is cool. Ditto on being glad that PC games are up.

Is it for new users only?

I just added the Sims to my available list but I had a question. The version I have is the Deluxe edition (with Livin' large expansion & bonus content), should there be a separate listing for it?

If it's for new users, I would think it would make sense to post a new thread about it (perhaps even in the bargain forum) since the only people who regularly read this thread are already Goozex users.

Yeah I emailed CheapyD for permission to start a new thread. I'll post the coupon there and keep the support for you guys going on there as well.

You could change the original coupon code on the beginning oft his thread and start a new one too...maybe you could convince cheapy to make it a sticky somewhere

The "Refer a Friend" bonus of 1 trade credit is given when you invite the friend or when the friend signs up and makes a trade?

The initial description states "every friend that you invite you will receive 1 trade credit." But the rules state "For every friend you refer and who becomes an active trader you will receive 1 trade credit." I assume its the latter but just wanted to confirm because I think its a little misleading.

My fault if its misleading b/c I wrote it...

You get 1 trade everytime you refer a friend who signs up and completes a trade.

Your friend, who you referred, will also get 1 free trade after their first transaction.

Sorry for the confusion.

Give it a bit of time....And depending on what you are putting up for trade, change it to full package trades. I had my entire collection up for disc only trade for several weeks and then I changed them over to full package. Within a few hours I had 4 requested from me.
