It appears the game will retail for $40 (10/8/09) and pre-orders will be entitled to download one of five free cars:

  • 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4
  • Giallo Modena(yellow) 2002 Enzo Ferrari
  • 2008 GT by Citroen
  • 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V
  • 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400

Man, for $40 I can get a game AND new car! Forgot the Cash for Clunkers program!

Wait the Bugatti and Lamborghini are gonna be in this game? I bet these are cars you can unlock in the game. I am gonna buy it, but not right now.

It'd be nice if pre-orders didn't mean those who buy the game later get deprived of something (even if it's almost always something insignificant)
 
I was going to pre-order anyways, blue GT-R looks nice. I think the colors are exclusive though.

EDIT: What would've been nicer is if we got racing version of the above cars, with like sponsorships from the stores like Amazon or Gamestop (I'm assuming different stores might get different pre-order cars).

If you like GT and Forza on home consoles, then you'll like this portable version. If you only like arcade racing games (burnout, ridge racer, outrun) then this is not for you.

I might pre-order it as the release date nears, I love in game content as a bonus in online games. I just pre-ordered Final Fantasy Dissidia on Amazon to get the free music CD and $5.00 off too.
 
I hope this game does not become the next Chinese Democracy... took forever to come out and when it did, it was very blah...

This means that on day one, you’ll be able to smoke your friends in 4-player Ad Hoc Mode multiplayer races with one of these rare sports cars while they are just getting started saving up credits.

Looks like it's a voucher for an exclusive color of one of the cars that may already be in the game. Still, it's a nice gesture to get the car immediately as opposed to buying it later in the game.

Personally, I'm going to wait as I tend to lean more towards the arcade style racing games. Gran Turismo games don't hold my interest long.

I remember reading about pre-ordering Gran Turismo 5 and then get a free download version of Gran Turismo PSP.
Anybody know anything about that?
Or did I mistaken that for this deal instead?

Ok. HOW do you get these bonuses if you are getting the PSP GO. I sold my PSP 2000 and all of its accessories on Craigslist for $175 and just put that on the PSP GO. I loved the other PSP's but HATED having to lug around the UMD's. And I dont believe in pirating the games onto my memory stick.

Bottom line. I guess if these things arent packaged in the game I can just pre-order and then return it and keep the pre-order. Or if I get the coded BEFORe it ships online I can then cancel the pre-order. Any other suggesstions.

I haven't heard that one before. I think you did mistake the deal for this one. But it appears as if you can't choose which car you get as the earlier posts and sites suggested. Each store that has a preorder gets a different and exclusive preorder bonus car.

Well, on Amazon's site, it says codes will be sent out 10 days after purchase. I don't know if it's a generic disclaimer they normally have for bonus codes, though.
