Green Man Gaming (Steam) Deals: 25% Off Hitman

My feelings echo Mr Squirrel's, but I still enjoyed AC for the things it did differently. If AC was just a direct copy of AA I think I would have gotten bored of it faster, even if in the end I will say I preferred AA's more compact focus.

My main problems with AC had to do with the story, which relied on too many implausible (yes, implausible in a Batman context) coincidences and twists, and an inherently stupid concept (Arkham City itself.) I also didn't love the open world, it was thankfully easy to traverse but kind of hollow and pointless. And it gets real old, real fast hearing random inmate chatter about how cold they are or how much they want to bang Catwoman or Harley.

I agree with you mostly. What I did like better about AC is the combat. Everything seemed more fluid and there were more options.

Also, playing as Catwoman and Robin was tons of fun. They weren't radically different from Batman, but it did add some variety.

Finally, regarding the "open-world". The major plus of AC over AA is the ease of getting from one place to another. Think of the city as more of a hub to the minor levels than as one big sandbox. I found it to be tedious getting from one end of the AA game to another. Plus, any fan of Batman has got to at least see some appeal to flying about a city at night, dropping from rooftops into a crowd of thugs.
This! Yep. I was worried I was misremembering but AC's combat was more fluid and had more options. I rather enjoyed Catwoman's challenge levels; it was a different style. I don't remember Robin at all (wasn't out? forced myself to forget?).

YESS. I crossing the AA map got tedious quickly. I really enjoyed boost-gliding over the AC rooftops, and getting to place again (e.g. for collectables) wasn't a pain (well, up the tower took a little bit). I really loved the "getting a drop" on thugs. It felt very batman-y (though my Batman media is limited a the 90s movies and a few episodes from the '60s series.)

Yes, the AC premise was outlandish, but meh and move on and enjoy it for what it is. It's a comic book anyways, realism is out the window. (e.g. batman can't generate enough aerodynamic lift from his cape, to boost-glide, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy boost gliding). Were you expecting balanced debate over whether Debussy or Ravel had a greater hand in shaping Impressionist music?

Mine seemed to stall for a day or two, but they finally transferred to GMG today.
I didn't receive any from March 30th, and the ones I did get prior weren't transferring. They transferred 2 days ago. Since then my games have been activating and xfering almost instantly. (I did submit a claim).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracy_of_software

I think that will sum it up...

Simply put GMG is not the copyright holder of any of the games they sale...

Now, if you want to say people are stealing and the act is thief. Go for it.

But it sure as hell isn't fucking piracy...
...

Like anyone online is referring to copyright infringement when they say they're pirating a video game or a movie.

"Hey, I'm gonna go pirate the new Captain America movie and watch it tonight!"

Yeah, I was totally referring to copyright infringement above.

Yes, GMG is still paying the pub/dev if their game is sold. I never said otherwise, since that's obvious. You're picking on semantics when you know I'm talking about stealing in general, and I even used the term stealing in my original post. And like I said, since GMG has to pay the pub/dev for sales of their games, they're actually LOSING money each time a purchase is made with exploited Playfire funds. So not only are you "stealing" a game (heaven forbid I use the word "pirate"), you're technically stealing money from GMG.

I still don't get why you persist with this line of thinking when you buy games from outside the region you are entitled to buy them in. You are flat out stealing money from publishers when you do this. That's indisputable. When you pay $15 bucks for a Russian copy of a game that costs $30 bucks in the USA, how are you justifying that in your head? Don't get me wrong, I do it quite often but I'm not in here throwing stones.

Considering I have done that possibly one time (I think it was Euro Truck Simulator 2 for $5 instead of $7.50 or something), it doesn't really add up as the same thing in my book. I'm still paying for a product, just a bit less. This is paying absolutely nothing for a game, as well as taking money from GMG since they have to pay the pub/dev. I'm not saying that buying out of region is just fine, it's shady too, but in the end the pub/dev is still making money for a reproduce-able, digital product. It's not being stolen, it's being obtained for a lower price. Legally they're both in grey area obviously, but buying out of region doesn't actually violate Steam's policies unless you're using a proxy. Using SAM to exploit Playfire rewards is clearly against their ToS.

I've said multiple times in past posts if you'd care to read them that I'm seldom a goody-goody about these kind of shady things, and that I'm more worried about the cheaters simply fucking up the system for the rest of us. But we're on a site called CheapAssGamer to find cheap deals on games and buy them legitimately. What's the point of even being here if you're fine with getting games for free? Just about any PC game in existence can simply be downloaded for free if you're fine with stealing, which many here appear to be.

Legally it's theft.  Morally you can say whatever but... again... has no bearing on the legal definition.  That's like the RPG Codex 'not removed from inventory' argument.

Just out of curiosity, did you do the Paypal transfer as a friend so you could avoid the extra fee, or did you do the transfer as a purchase?

Obviously everyone here uses the friends and family option every time if it's available. Considering I'm friends with most of the people I buy from (including Jake), I don't see the point in giving PayPal a cut of an exchange of goods between friends. The primary reason there is a fee on the other payment option is to pay for the buyer/seller protection systems that PayPal offers.

Don't need to pay a dead hooker.

Just sayin'.
GTA flash back...

Honestly, there's no room for semantics when you start talking about legalities... Now, the other week when you wanted to argue about tombs...? That was semantics. Right now I'm just trying to educate you so you stop coming across as a dumbass.

Anyhow, lesson is over. Rather you I've learned or not I could care less.

Chalk me up for another AA > AC vote. Arkham City isn't bad since it's mostly just more of the same, but the pseudo-sandbox didn't really do enough to justify its existence, and the story is so utterly ridiculous I just can't take any aspect of it seriously.
You can add me to the AA side of things... but only because no one expected a Batman game to be so damn good. Really, both games had stuff I really liked. I suggest playing them in order for anyone new to the series.

I like how Playfire punishes you for playing games before they offer a reward. Those jerks.

I'll show them. Mua ha ha.
Sometimes they put really old ass games up for those too. Like 'Play Bioshock for the first time' or 'Play Civilization IV for the first time'. I'd venture that 99% of people who actually have the slightest interest in playing those would have played them by now. It's not like they haven't been dirt cheap 100 times.

Me either. It's been over two weeks now. I don't feel like gambling so I'm not going to contact support. I'll just wait and hope they show up one day in a week, a month or a year.

Yeah, forget it. It was obvious from the get-go that I was just talking about stealing, so whatever. Thanks for the "lesson".

If anyone's playing Pressure for Playfire rewards, you can get the Gun Jammin achievo for 50p like this:

Start a single player game, select Campaign, easy difficulty. FInish the first map, then sell your Primary weapon, you can buy a ram if you want. Now when you finish the second map, you'll be given the Gun Jammin achievement.

I'm having trouble getting the Ultrakill achievo. I may have to try the flamethrower weapon for it.

The King of the Sky one is fairly easy, just kill an airship. You'll come up against them after a while.

All that credit on The Hobbit is killing me. Supposing you were able to get all of those rewards in time, that'd be a little over ten bucks, plus the 20% off voucher.. I also have about $5 credit there. You're talking $8 for a pretty new LEGO game.

Or I wait for a bundle/$5 sale.

Damn.

Crisis is over, my credits are transferring again and I was able to avoid their crafty trap by not contacting support.
Same over here.. sort of.

It's tracking SOME rewards. I did all the Monaco rewards but it skipped two for me.

I also have this problem where, I'll do an achievement but it won't be tracked to my account until two days after.

Anyone else have this problem?

I still have problems here and there. Like I did two achievements for Sleeping Dogs, Unfowlable and Sleight Silver and only Unfowlable unlocked for me (it's been days now). I also never got any of the rewards for YAZD, which I sent a ticket in about with proof that I did them and whatnot, but yeah... it's been about a week with no reply.

Things are working better now, but they're certainly not fixed. I have found that it's a good practice to do the GMG/Playfire sign in/sign out dance every couple days if you want to keep things moving though.

I also didn't get credits for YAZD. I think there is an issue with that game.

ive never ordered through GmG before. But i guess they have a 22% off promo going for pre ordering Wildstar right now. I want a physical cop of that game bad but i cant find one anywhere with the pre order bonus's. The only place i found that has a physical copy up for pre order is Best Buy and they dont list any of the pre-order bonus's (early access, beta weekeneds, name reservation, ect)

How does GmG work? Do they have any DRM? Do i need to d.load their client to get their games? If i can just buy the game through them and d.load it directly without a client or extra DRM i may just go through them i guess. I REALLY wanted a physical copy but i cant seem to get an answer on whats up with the pre-order bonus's through Best Buy

GMG and DRM varies from title to title. For WildStar it says Other DRM and it being an NCSoft title I suspect it has its own installed/boot exe much like The Secret World or Elder Scrolls Online provided by the publisher. (aka no extra DRM from GMG at all.)

You could always pirate it from Nuuvem for about the same price as with the 20% coupon.
I usually buy my pirated games with tf2 keys. That way I can use card money, I got from pirated games that I got from gmg

It's best when playfire has rewards on games I used pirated card money on.

It's like a circle of piracy.

It's a sad day when I'd rather see some new playfire rewards posted instead of new deals.
