Well I posted this in the other Gamestop 360 Slim promo thread, but thought I'd add it here too since people are talking about this a lot here:

Like others here, I really don't see how Gamestop can make any money off old traded in 360's. I didn't think this deal would last very long, so I bundled up my launch 20gb 360 (still working perfectly) and took it in for the trade. Got the following credit:

Launch 360 console (bound to die sooner or later!): $100
20gb hard drive: $30
Wireless controller: $25
Xbox 360 small remote: $2.25
Xbox 360 old wired headset: $5

Total credit: $162.25

Paid full balance of 144.63 and preordered a new 360s (of course they didn't have any in stock, but I can easily wait). I had been wondering how I could get rid of the old system before it fried, this made it very easy.

I wonder if Gamestop has some kind of deal with Microsoft to turn in the old 360s for credit? Doesn't make sense otherwise, the older systems are virtually worthless on Ebay or anywhere else.

I thought the Xbox 360 trade in promo does not end until 7/18/2010. I was thinking about holding onto my system until more arrive and put $50 towards the slim. And when the end date for the promo is close I will trade-in my system.

OT, but there were reports of Microsoft working on a Jasper based motherboard that would fit in the original boxes. Not impossible, if it would lower the number of RRoD they have to process. Edit: appears it is the 'Opus' MB, that serves as the replacement MB for RRoD prone 360s

Gamestop may also benefit by offering some carrots on the system and making bread on the extra games that people trade in to make up the difference toward a new system.

Hey guys I have a couple questions

I want to trade in a DS Phat, DS Lite, and a PSP
Will I get the $25 hardware bonus for each or in total?
The DS Phat's hinge is just a little broken so will I still get the bonus if I have to pay the refurb fee?

Thanks!

Hey cutie- Yes- you will get the $25 hardware bonus for each and every system you trade in. If you don't glue or repair the slightly broken hinge (hint ..hint) and they want to charge you the refurb fee on that one you will still get the $25 hardware bonus on it as well..

YMMV possibly.

Told, did not bring in, the clerk at GS mine had a hinge crack that made it so the screen(when you open it to a certain spot) wouldn't lock in place any more and he said that they wouldn't take it because "We don't take the system if we can't fix it".

I'm pretty sure he was just mocking the fact that you were hitting on a girl over the internet hoping she would cyber you or somehow bang you through the internet.

LOL, relax yourself Newbie. I am happily married and don't need to hit on girls in video game forums. Take it easy, kimosabe.

I finally called Gamestop and got them to use the $10 off (rather than 10% off) coupon from the UFC contest on Darksiders. First time I have ever contacted them on the phone - the guy even threw in overnight shipping for free for my "troubles".

Impressed.

Now - hope the game was as fun as the demo.

A local Gamestop manager told me that the promo may end early or be adjusted, as corporate underestimated the amount of hardware trade-ins they have been receiving. Has Gamestop ever done this before?

The manager was definitely not trying to get me to preorder, as he didn't mention this until after I had traded in all my hardware toward the new system. Glad to see they were giving full credit on preorders.

It's not a bad game.. but the dodge system sucks.

Best of Tests DS- 1.75
Ener-G Dance Squad DS- 2.00
He wants to violate her. Don't be a hater!
yeah.. don't hate the Violator, hate the violation!!

I leave for a few hours and this is what happens...haha

Anyways, they wouldn't let me turn in the DS Phat because of the hinge crack and wouldn't let me turn in the PSP because the serial code sticker got ripped off...not sure how probably my brother...so that kinda sucked. Oh well I guess I'll try selling on ebay. I also traded in some games though.

Zelda Twilight Princess - 9.50
Rainbow Six Vegas - 2.75
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core - 3.25

But I also got the edge card 10% and extra $10 bonus so I ended up with a grand total of 27.05 for the three games. Not bad for games that have been collecting dust for a couple years.
When I was grabbing stuff to trade in, I couldn't bring myself to part with Twilight Princess.

You are stronger than I.
It wasn't too hard for me since I got extremely tired of waving my wii controller aimlessly. lol
Does the Trade 3 get $10 stack with the guaranteed $25 bonus on certain games?
Negatory, one or the other.

In my experience, the $10 promo is showing up in lieu of the $25, so watch out for that. I got jipped out of some money because I traded in THREE $25 promo games, but got the extra $10 instead.
Does the Trade 3 get $10 stack with the guaranteed $25 bonus on certain games?
NO-as stated here repeatedly promos do not stack!
Does the Trade 3 get $10 stack with the guaranteed $25 bonus on certain games?
nope not even the edge card stacks on promo prices. only base price.
Ah, then I assume the console itself is next on the chopping block? :p
Yes, you are probably right. :D

Wow, that's incredibly lame...

Well it is really ymmv on the particular GS store you try, as well as with each employee as well. I had one manager say sure no problem, we take DS with hinge crack (with refurb fee of course) and take one, but other employees at the same location wouldn't take it and it was refused at another nearby location as well. The PSP serial sticker thing is getting really picky though. If you have any other GS stores nearby, I would try them out first. I would be you can find one store or willing employee who will take one or both without issue. Good luck...(and your still "icky" by the way..he he)

I'll have to try that thanks
well that is a given, right?
For sure, Mr. V -

Golden Sun (GBA) 2.50

Red Dead Redemption (ps3) - 25.00
Modnation Racers (ps3) - 22.00

Reserved my 360 slim today, traded in my 20gb HDD, console, extra wireless controller, headset and 256 memory card and I did NOT get the extra $25 trade in bonus, which is not surprising. Also traded the following, and these are all base values. Had to break them into two separate transactions because the system capped my trade:

1.50 (all 360):

Jericho
Alone in the Dark
Stranglehold
Quake 4
Stuntman: Ignition
The Outfit

360:
Star Wars Complete Saga - $10
Baja: Edge of Control - $3
CoD: WaW - $6
Lego Batman - $3
Brutal Legend - $5
Sonic Unleashed - $5
Lego Indiana Jones/Kungfu Panda combo - $1.50
Godfather - $3

PS3:
Full Auto 2 $5
Genji: Days of the Blade - $2.25
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - $5

Wii:

Conduit - $7

After all that I wound up paying $6.xx, and that was pure tax. My wife is happy as I didn't have to spend any of my own money. I'm happy because the games I traded away I got near what I paid for each, or at least I didn't lose much (after Edge card and bonus $10 for every 3). In some cases I made a bit of a profit because many were $5 HWV games I got last summer. And most I had beaten and was trying to get rid of anyway, so now my media rack can breathe a bit easier. :)

I'm #8 in line for the reserve, so the manager expects them to be in by July 9th. Pretty sweet. I don't care either way, as I have another 360. The 360 I traded away was a repaired RRoD and was a near-launch unit, so I'm glad to get rid of it.

YAY!! I've been a Gamestop hater in the past but 2010 they have really been good. I'm going to give this particular store a good rating via the survey. The two guys there said they had 5 bad reviews yesterday from surveys. They've screwed me in the past, at least another employee that works there, but this guy has always been solid.

I must be some kind of wizard to have predicted that...

Seriously though, what CAN GS fix? Not a screen crack, or a hinge problem? So what is there? Sticky buttons? Why would you even think of reselling a DS with sticky buttons?

Some new values from today 6/21

PS3:

Motorstorm (NFR) - 2.75
Socom: Confrontation (game only) - 2.75
MLB 08: The Show - 1.50

Xbox 360:

Halo 3 - 4
Battlefield: Bad Company - 4
NCAA Basketball 09 - 2.50

Not too mad since I only lost 50 cents from the posted values.

That's a good question...what kind of things would you even have to pay a refurb fee for since they don't even accept things that are even barely broken. :whistle2:k

Here's a ray of hope to those of you that were told your Gamestop would not restock until July. I was told that the store I reserved at would not receive another shipment of 360s for two weeks and I had a voice mail waiting for me this afternoon telling me they came in earlier than expected. Happy Birthday to me! Now I just have to repack everything and take it over before they close.

when i reserved my slim today the guy told me they are getting like 2 a week, but i think it was really just a lie to make sure i reserved it.

iconps3.gif
Final Fantasy XIII- $17.25
iconpsp_r2.gif
Darkstalkers - $1.75
iconpsp_r2.gif
Armored Core Formula Front - $2.00
iconds.gif
New Super Mario Bros - $20.00

Just traded these in and got $55.75 total, thanks to the $25 guarantee promo and trade in 3 get $10 bonus. I didn't have the box and manual so my copy of new Super Mario Bros got docked $3, but surprisingly I'm really happy with the outcome of the trade in.

Last game I traded in was Super Metroid for the SNES @_@

Yeah it does, the Gamestop clerk guy was trying to get me to get one and said that I could get an extra $5 if I made one on the spot, but I don't trade in games that often and didn't want to spend $15.
