Guitar Hero II - General Disscusion - Indie Pack #2 - 3 Songs Up Now
Does 100 points a song sound fair enough?
100 pts per song? Ouch... that would suck. Even 80 would suck. Give me a package deal like 20 songs for 800 and we'll talk.

They def. won't do 20 for 800 IMO. That's a lot of songs to add, too much at one time. Unless they plan on waiting forever to release these.

Something like a 5 song pack for 400 is a feeling I have that they might be doing.

Now you can be like James Hetfield!

Awesome song, but this is right when James voice went to shit. Anyway, having GH1 songs available so soon would be awesome.

One of the guys from Cheap Trick(not a huge fan but they have a few good songs) played a x-plorer. I would rather be like him than an asshole. Just my opinion though. ;)
So how's the actual guitar? People say the whammy bar is very stiff and hard to use.
So far the 360 guitar feels more solid than the ps2 which felt very hollowy plasticy to me, I always thought it was about to break. This makes a big difference for me - mo comfy.
The cord though, short stuff - needs an extension for me. My better half even pointed out how lame that it was not wireless. No matter what dumb corporate reasons there were, it does feel dumb to pay so much and still be tethered. But hey - I still bought it. They do know how to bleed us don't they?

- and I have the creeping suspicion they won't go easy on the download prices either.
Each DL song will be a whole new spot-on cover recording from harmonix's studio with guitar and bass notes each mapped in multiple difficulties. See I already made it sound like they'll be 250 points each. Here's hoping it ain't so.

Just in case anyone is curious...

You can unlock the "Gear Head Award" achievement by just buying all the regular guitars in the shop. I just got the achievement, even though I haven't unlocked the final 3 guitars in the game.

Do you unlock more Guitar Finishes as you beat the modes? I've purchased all the available finishes, but the acheivement hasnt unlocked.
Get it at CC, foo'. You get a free 1600 points card.
Yes yes, but I traded in some crap a while ago to FYE and got 60.00 for it and have been saving it for this.

So, how long is the USB cord? 8-9 feet I think I read...something like that.

I hope it's long enough for me, as I don't want a USB extension...we'll see tomorrow hopefully (if my GameRush gets it)
I'm hoping CC will give me the XBOX Points card when I go back later this week for the adjustment.
my CC told me that i can do return and re-buy on it even though i opened it.

Also, I just beat Free Bird after the seventh time.

Does anyone know if Circuit City will be carrying extra Guitars. Since CC has a $15 off of $100, it might make a decent deal specially with the 1600pts card on top of that.

Searched for the Guitars online and nothing found.
Ive never played any of the other GH's and have never touched a actual guitar....worth buying?
I'm in the same boat as you, never played them or touched them or even stared while someone played. I picked it up and loving every minute of it.

Here's a great interview with a lot of good info:

For all the ones who do not know the game Guitar Hero, can you explain what’s the story of the game and how will it be measured if you are a good or a bad player?
You are a up and coming rocker. You have to work your way up from a small club to the sell out stadium jamming to some of the greatest rock songs of all time. This is done by hitting the right buttons on your guitar controller and strumming at the same time. This really gives you the feeling of being a true guitar player.
What benefits will this game have over the PS2 Version? What are the differences?
Downloadable content is the biggest addition, but we also have online leader boards. There is also upgraded graphics and sound on all characters and levels. Its really a great step above the PS2 version.

The game has received very good reviews despite it is very similar to PS2 version. How do you think it can be improved in a future Xbox 360 version?
Games can always be improved. I think we just touched on the graphical improvements. There is also room for online, more expansive story modes and multiplayer modes. You can go on and on with what can be better and we have a lot of ideas that we have yet to implement.

Could it be possible to add an editor for songs stored in Xbox hard drive in the future?

Anything is possible. An editor is something we’ve looked into before, but we really want to make sure we deliver a great overall experience before we start letting users create their own data.

What kind of multiplayer modes do you have in Xbox Live?
We currently don’t have Multiplayer on Xbox Live. We wanted to make sure we worked out every last detail so that when we do add in online multiplayer it will be just as good of an online experience as it is offline.

Does the game support the Xbox Live Camera?
Currently no.

How has been your experience with Xbox Live and in which ways would you like to improve the game through this service?

I love Xbox Live. It’s probably the best online service available and it makes adding content to games simple. Downloadable content is the biggest way we can improve our game and that is what we are really looking to. We can have limitless possibilities with Live.

What sort of downloadable content there will be? Will there be downloadable content from well known international bands as well, or just the Indies that are completely unknown in other corners of the world?

We plan to keep all fans very happy by giving everyone a little bit of everything they want. So I would say yes to all of those.

We hear music tracks will be available by Xbox Live Marketplace. Will you group these tracks together in a pack or will you be able to purchase them as individuals. Will they be grouped by music genre?

We are planning on grouping tracks at this point. Most songs can be grouped by genre, but who knows you may see an Indie pack or even a Sitar pack. The possibilities are endless.

Tell us something about the multiplayer game modes, how many players can join a game, which game modes do you created for GH2?

GH2 is two players. We have co-op, and two different versions of versus mode.

Can you verify the rumour of the halo mjlonir theme being part of GH II’s early downloadable content?

I have no idea where that came from or where it started, but Master Chief won’t stop calling me. He wants his song in the game so I may just have to include it or else get a needler sicked on me.

Is it possible to use custom tracks or only ones included or downloaded from the marketplace? Can we jam along to own tracks?

Currently no.

How about making a Drum hero game?

We’ve been researching all sorts of instruments. Kazoo Hero is looking very promising.

I was surprised to learn that the guitar controller was wired. Why have you not produced a wireless guitar? Will one be released in the near future?

Microsoft held very closely to their wireless technology while we were making GH2 360. As for the future we’ll have to wait and see.

The new port on the guitar, will this be for effects pedals and such?

Very smart you are. You just might have to wait and see though.

Why don’t they have a left handed guitar? It’s not as simple as turning the guitar over. The tremolo arm is up to high then and the buttons are reversed. Is this something you will be looking into creating for us left handed people?

We’ve thought about it and it may happen sooner or later.

You unlock finishes for every regular guitar you own. Buy more of the guitars in the shop and you'll see that more finishes will unlock.

Also I lost my receipt, would they still have my card number in their system? I'm going to try to get that points card on Tuesday.

You can reprint your receipt from circuitcity.com, that's assuming you purchased it from there, plus they can look up previous purchases if you purchased with a credit or debit card.

Gamestop is sticking with the street date unfortunately and I get the feeling they're gonna end up selling (or have sold) the copy I have pre-ordered.
I'm in the same boat as you, never played them or touched them or even stared while someone played. I picked it up and loving every minute of it.
It will be close to $100 after tax for this for something I have no idea if I'd ever really play and selling on online would be a pain since the package is pretty big. Hmmm.....

Ugh, why? Just call them up and confirm you have a pre-order and how long it will be held for.

God yes. If you like music you will like this game. It's impossible not to have fun playing it. In fact, it definitely turns you into as real of a rock star as possible. The day I bought Guitar Hero and played it for the first time - after I finished my FIRST group of songs - I totally got laid. True story! YMMV though...
Thought you guys might like this:

Scott Ian "playing" GH2.

"I couldn't hear myself, the monitors were terrible" :D

"Look at how cramped my hand is. If you play this you'll never be a real guitar player because you'll fuck up your hand."
Scott needs to stop f'n around with video games and put out a new Anthrax album.

Was it a groupie or your wife?

He quit Anthrax to devote his time to VH1.
Is anyone going to try and pick this up at midnight tonight at Walmart?
I'll probably end up trying the LaVale, MD Walmart tonight at midnight. I went there for midnight for the PS2 version, and they handed me a bundle straight out of a shipping box (I had to ask for it though, and they brought them out of the back). Hopefully tonight will be the same as then. I called earlier today, and the woman on the phone on electronics answered me as "it doesn't come out until tomorrow," so hopefully they are already in the back.

Please don't make claims like that unless you have the Xbox Live Vision camera to prove it.

Scott needs to stop f'n around with video games and put out a new Anthrax album.

Aint that the truth. Their last album was very under-rated and awesome.

We can get a general idea when we should be recieving our package by looking at UPS Ground Maps. It's being sent from zip code 90701.

That is too funny. After the Beef Danglers and I played a set, my girl jumped on me.

Thanks, but I just looked over the tracking status's that were posted and they're coming from Cerritos, CA. The zip code is 90701, those who are still in the warehouse or billed stage can find out when they should generally receive their package. Oh did anyone catch the commercial on t.v. yet?

Animation probably by Production I.G.

Since it's out of stock at CC.com...do you guys forsee any shortages at CC during lunch time tomorrow if I try to go pick one up?

Medium kicks my ass. I am still going through easy and getting my 5 stars on the other songs I haven't yet. Having a cold doesn't help either.

I really hope not. You'll probably have a good chance if your store sticks to the street date.

If they do sell out you could try price matching at Best Buy or Walmart...

OK, so what am I doing wrong with this game : I can hear my notes and the crowd, but not the rest of the band. I have the band volume adjusted to 11. I don't get it...

ARGGGH!!

I Got the three red lights today. 12 freaking hours before I go pickup Guitar Hero 2. The towel tricked worked for me, but I'm not sure how long it will last. I'm seriously considering trading in a bunch of games and buying a core just to play this game. I don't think I could wait the 2 or three weeks it would take to repair my console. Must play Guitar Hero now!!

Wow. I had a corrupted profile.....I lost ALL my GH2 saves.

Beat/5-starred every song on Easy/Medium mode
Beat Hard mode
Beat all the unlocked songs
Unlocked most of the items in the shop

Wow. Today just plain sucks.

HA! Karma came back to punish you for getting the game early.

If you go to the gamer profile section and it says corrupt profile, delete it then try the recovery tool. be sure to pick 'don't delete my saved games'. I've heard this has worked for multiple people, including someone here.

Damn you! :)

I tried that originally, but for about an hour after that I couldn't recover my gamer profile on live. I called Xbox 360 customer service, who had me do that system cache thing.

My profile works now but I pretty much lost ALL my game saves.

Solved my own problem : my toddler son had fucked with the receiver and made it sound all messed up. Like the game wasn't hard enough already.

Sounds like an early warning sign of him leaning towards sucky music.. inject him with a double dose of Rock History 101 right now!
