Say goodbye to all the downloadable songs we might've recieved outside of the old GH1 songs, they won't put any good ones up to download, they'll want to save them for the 3rd game in the series as a selling point.


Of course, I could be completely wrong. Isn't the 80's edition coming out this summer? They sure are putting this series out there fast.
 
GH3 isn't really that "soon" if you look at it from the perspective of the original PS2 release. I'm sure they'd love to Madden-ize this series if possible.

I don't think we'll get totally dicked over on downloadable tracks. Even if there was not a GH3 already scheduled, I doubt they would have given us the big guns (say, a Metallica song) via download. They'd want to save that to push the new title regardless of when it is coming out.

Honestly, I'd be happy if we just got the GH1 songs so we have an "all in one" collection, but anything else they want to push out there is welcome too.
 
I just talked to Activision support and the guy on the other end of the line goes "Oh, another one that shocked out...you'll have to contact red octane directly."

So apparently, there's another string of issues brewing that may not be as widespread, but is definitely happening to some number of people - and that is an electric shock from the neck of the guitar, which renders the guitar pretty much useless.

Bravo to the manufacturer of this magnificent piece of shit. I'm betting that this company won't be getting a manufacturing contract again anytime soon.

SO if you've gotten a shock and only one or two buttons on the entire thing work after that, contact red octane immediately. Your guitar is as defective as it gets without completely exploding.
 
Thanks for the updates, Ronin. I'll have to give them a call when I get home. Though the call will mainly attempt to gain some semblance of an explanation as to just what's going on with controllers "shocking out," as I fully intend to just take the package back to Best Buy and get another one.

Although now that I think about it, maybe the emitting of electrical current is just supposed to be part of the game. You know, as if they were trying to generate enough current to fry you and spike your hair at the same time so that you really feel like a true rock star. :hot:

Have you seen the commercial? You should have green electric currents flying out of your 360 and your controller. They just didn't wanna be sued for false advertisment. ;)
 
has anybody had any problems w/ their game disk?? amazingly enough i havent had any problems w/ the 95055 guitar yet, but the disk will hang up sometimes forcing me to restart the damn system...pisses me off!!

GOD fuckING DAMMIT!!!!!

So I brought my 360 over to a friend's place to play GH2 and because space around his TV is a bit sparse, I put it vertical (this was before I even turned it on). Things played out fine but 10 minutes in or so, i heard a sickening grinding and sure enough, less than a minute later, this message pops up saying the 'disc needs to be properly cleaned'...

So now whenever I boot up the game, on the setlist screen, the disc stops spinning and i get the error. Since I bought the game direct from redoctane.com, I can't just walk into a store and get it replaced.

Can anyone offer me any advice that's not 'go buy another copy of the game'?

BTW, how about Green's collossal performance in goal against Arsenal the other day? Gotta love the Hammers... they can suck horribly all season but come with it to spoil an afternoon for the Gooners! Might dodge relegation after all!

If you have a GameCrazy near you, check if they have a disc resurfacer. For like $2 (I think, they usually do it for free for me), they'll take care of you. This happened to me recently with crackdown (rings on disk) and now it plays perfectly.

I gotta tell you though, maybe it depends on who is resurfacing but the quality will vary. I've taken some disks in and it came out looking brand new, while others have little tiny microscratches but the disk plays fine.

Or maybe try doing it yourself by buying one of those scratch kits

Either way, you're disk is screwed right now so you might as well try.

Ok i did the math already. The OG Guitar Hero on PS2 had 47 songs total. 17 were the extras.

So if you only wanted to buy the 30 major artists. It would cost you $62.48. Remember that's not including the extras.
 
Yeah, the price is a bit high.

For me, it's now forcing me to pick and choose the packs I want, instead of just buying all of them like I planned.


I'm just gonna get the BATM pack, as that was one of the ones I really wanna play on the GH2 system.
 
They probably want it to equal what Guitar Hero 1 would cost for 360 had they released it on a disc. $62 seems about right.

Wouldnt be suprised if they just end up doing a mega-pack for a discounted price. That'll be what im waiting for.
 
That price is infuriating for a bunch of songs that they already have button mapped and mastered. Maybe for brand new stuff that they did specifically for 360, but for porting over old songs we should get the entire GH1 list for no more than 3200 total (The PS2 version is $40 new with no guitar). They should break the packs into 4 big song sets (Indie, Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal) and charge 800 points each MAX for 10-12 songs per set. That's the absolute highest dollar amount they should be considering. This is just an obvious rape attempt. I'm pissed.
 
500 points for three songs? I was really looking forward to this feature, but not anymore. What happened to 150?

Where did those prices come from? I can't find anything official on it anywhere.
 
I was patiently awaiting the day when the new songs would hit XBL...looks like I'm going to wait for a price drop on those outrageously high point costs. Way too much for me!
 
Ouch. Pack 1 seems to be the only one I'll purchase at this point. Damn, if they charge this much for 2 year old songs, what will they charge for new material?

Anyone who knows a little bit about the music industry and publishing can tell you that it's not a walk in the park to secure content and the proper distribution licenses for songs.

So are they claiming they had to renegotiate all the licenses for the songs they already had rights to for GH1? I have a hard time believing these songs cost them much to extend it to the 360...
 
No doubt it's expensive for them to get the rights, but not $6.50 per 3 songs per download expensive. I have a felling when they sell very few packs they'll get the message and get it lowered if possible.

They would've had to get new contracts signed for the 360 version as the PS2 original wouldn't have included this in the original scope of the deal.
 
Ha! fuck those prices. I'm not buying a non-disc/downloadable "Elements of Guitar Hero 1" for a total higher retail price than the standalone game.
