I am trying to compile a complete (or as close as possible) listing. The requirements are obviously:

1. A Horror Video Game
2. Based on a Horror Movie (the movie had to have come first)

That's it. If you know the system, that would be helpful to. And to answer the question ahead of time, (a) no this is not a homework assignment, but (b) yes it is for an academic paper I am going to write. The list is the starting off point, and I figure that with all of the video game knowledge on this site, this might be a good way of producing a complete list.

Funny, pretty much all of these games suck.[/QUOTE]

That's one of the conclusions I suspect the paper will come to.

Thanks for the input. Question: Do you really think that the Mummy Returns and/or the Terminator count as horror?

Mummy, probably not. The first movie was more of a horror movie compared to the sequels.

Terminator, yes. The Terminator from the first movie is just like your Jason Voorhees/Michael Myers, an unstoppable killing machine who kills anyone in their way to get to their target. No matter how many times Kyle and Sarah tried to kill him, he kept coming back over and over again.

Let's see, off the top of my head...

Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green (PC/Xbox)
Evil Dead (Hail to the King - PSone, Regneration - PC/Xbox)
Aliens vs Predator 2 - PC

land of the dead was i believe a 360 and ps3 game.

i recall a lifeforce game on the nes but im not sure if it was based on the movie.

by some of your definitions of "horror" you could count the ghostbuster games.

oh yeah and you have the nes aliens and predator games. they also have aliens vs preadator as a side scroller and theres was an aliens arcade side scroller too. and games based on aiens 3. i think there was an aliens game on the jaguar too.

there was a jaws on the ps2 as well.

oh yeah and that witch movie Warlock it got made into game for the snes and genesis.

and i believe there was an Arachnophobia game as well.

If you consider King Kong to be in the horror genre that just opens up a huge can of worms.

Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game

Honestly, I am unsure about King Kong, but I felt better safe than sorry for the original listing (I can always cut down).

Why not?

You think King Kong is horror

Nope, Xbox only.

Got a copy a few weeks back from Hollywood Video

did it actually follow the movie?

Dreamcast -- The Ring: Terror's Realm. Absolute pos.

A little OT but Dead Rising/Capcom had some litigation with the studio of Dawn of the Dead.

Short Version - Capcom won, since the Dawn of the Dead people failed to link Dead Rising with any protected element of Dawn of the Dead. The judge found Dead Rising to be void of any social commentary at all, which was the focus of Dawn.
