ps, there's probably going to be spoilers if you're not caught up, so read at your own risk.

the family guy thing kind of annoyed me, but it was well times and i laughed at the time.

i was a little sad that the 2 hour episode was basically all of House's time in the institution. after meeting the characters in the episode i thought it would have been pretty entertaining to stay there for another episode or 2.

I only saw parts of it, but I was pleased with this episode. And I agree. It would be better if House spent the entire series in the institution.
I was surprised that an actor from the new Electric Company was in the episode.

Wouldn't a kinder, gentler House mean the series has jumped the shark?

House without a drug addiction is a bit iffy. Part of the draw of the series was watching a great mind fall. It was a slow motion tragedy.

The episode was great in character development. I am looking forward to seeing the softer side of House. They focused a lot of that male doctor that House wants to beat up, perhaps they'll write him into an episode later on.

i think kinder gentler house will strictly be in his personal life. (ie house and cuddy finally get together). my guess is hell still be an ass to patients and coworkers, especially wilson.

Loved the first episode. I 2nd the belief they should have had him stay in the hospital longer.

The minor spoilers on ask ausiello about the house/cuddy relationship over the course of the seasons sounds interesting.

House staying in the institution would have been a trainwreck. It's a great thing that he's out. He will still be a dick.

im sure hell still be a dick, we wont be seeing a happy go lucky anytime soon. i think hell just do better with the ladies (ie cuddy). staying in the instituation for the whole season would have been terrible, but i think they could have done another episode or two.

I think this is one of the few times a tv show has been successful (well so far) in creating a round character. I think will remain a dick (thats his personality), but will open up to people in his way. By eliminating his character flaws maybe he'll get new flaws (sort of like a refreshing point of the tv seiries). So far I still am looking foward to House.
I kinda thought at the end of the episode where house is on the bus Amber would be sitting right next to him.

I had no idea I'm in the minority of people not liking this episode. There was almost nothing House about it. I spent lots of time the two weeks before the premiere to re-watch season 5 and was waiting for the new season of House to start, and to me, it ended up being a 2 hour waste because the characters introduced will likely not return, and he most likely won't become nice, so this could have been done like past seasons where time elapsed and he comes back from time off, and was off vicodin.

Only way the premiere would actually be of any value to the story is if he became nice to people (which won't happen), or if they replace Kutner with a psychologist, which doesn't make much sense either. Would I have liked it if it was a one hour side story instead of the premiere? Probably. But to me, it felt like 2 hours of non-canon.

Episode two of this season definitely wasn't as good as the first. Too much Foreman/13 for me.[/QUOTE]

agreed. i wont miss taub being gone, if in fact he is gone. in fact i wouldnt mind if the old gang got back together, foreman, cameron and chase. thatd be just fine with me. i hope that house and wilson live together for awhile as the first time around was plenty funny.

What's wrong with Foreman/13? Their subplot isn't that bad. It's basically like Chase/Cameron. I don't think Taub is gone. That's just too abrupt an exit for a character. I think he'll come back when House gets control of the team again. This episode wasn't that great but it wasn't bad either. It felt to me like it was a build up to the next episode; like we're still gearing up for full on House practicing medicine again. Also, since when has Taub's reason for wanting to work for House was because of who House is? I was under the assumption that he only took this job because he couldn't do cosmetic surgery anymore and so had to find something else.
