How rare is Rez???

Ultros

CAGiversary!
How many copies of this game were made?
And whatever happened to the rerelease?
I could get a copy so replys are appreciated.

I think it's pretty hard to come by. Personally, I've never seen a copy in any store that I've been in. I've only seen it in Ebay auctions, so that would lead me to believe that it's pretty rare. That and the fact that people always say how rare it is. So if you can get a copy, I think you should.

It is another case of a game having relatively limited release and then a bigger demand comes along after release. The game isn't extremely rare, I seen a few copies at the EB I worked at in 2002. Then if I remember the game had a limited rerelease sometime later. The game is not impossible to find because I see them in stock at Gamestop.com when you punch in your zip code and look at local inventory of stores. If you keep looking there you can eventually get it for $30. As for the exact number released, you will have a hard time finding that info.
Does anyone know if Rez will become rare/valuable?
Well if the copy I'm selling is currently at $83, I would say it already is valuable. :D

rare anough where the only copy I ever have come by is my friends copy, and the only copy I own is a copy onto my harddrive that I play... so i got it for free, but dosn't mean its not rare.

I bought a copy last year for $30 from GS. I knew from doing my research here that it was hard to find. I didn't even own a PS2 at the time I bought it. After I got my PS2 and decided it wasn't a game that really interested me I sold it on Ebay for $60. Haven't seen a copy anywhere in my area since.

sooo bobo2k4 how much is it at your gamestop? you interested in grabbin me a copy? i'll even pay for shipping! and give you $5 bucks. :)
it's rare....but is it any good?
Almost everyone says it's good, but through my experience, I didn't think much of it. Fuses a shooter with music, I suppose, but I found it boring.
No of course not, why would people rant and rave over the rarity of a good game?
No, there are people who just buy it because it's hard to find. Then there are people who just rant about it because they have a copy - even if they don't play it. This helps to drive up demand for it and easier to sell. Rez is okay gameplaywise (it's a very simple shooter and that's why some people don't like it) but it's original more than anything. The visuals were stunningly beautiful and no I didn't have to use any drugs to appreciate the graphics. And I'm beginning to think Rez isn't all that hard to find - Ebay always has a steady supply - it's just people are willing to pay 80+ dollars for it.

Shin Megami Tensei - Nocturne is another game that can be easily hyped up to "rare" status. Some even posted here asking if it was rare, some ebayers put rare in the titles, I just read on gamespot in their burning questions and they said it was hard to find (in SF where I've seen copies at EB's!)

The problem is two part:
1. Rez and 'MegaTen didn't have super high print runs to begin with.
2. When a few stores ran out people instantly assumed it was gone for good.

Rez specifically caused panic because of the rumors that Sega had canceled it all together when all that happened was their small first shipment sold out quickly and the second shipment was a little slow getting to stores leading Hoarders to snatch up as many as they could when they saw them. A similar situation happened with Disgaea but Atlus spoke up faster than Sega did and got a second shipment out earlier.

Rez isn't a bad game. I played it on the Dreamcast. It is a simple shooter with a unique approach mixing the audio along with the visuals. The first time you play it you are impressed and then after that you realize it really isn't THAT great. For rail shooters give me Starfox any day. Definitely not worth the $80 or more price.

There is a difference between rare and games that cost a lot. You can easily find copies of Panzer Dragoon on ebay, but there are games that cost a lot less but rarely show up on ebay.

Mine is still factory sealed for now. I'll probably keep it that way and see if I can find a disc-only or rental copy to try.

It is probably the most sought after North American PS2 game by collectors.

It's close with Gitaroo Man, but definitely one of the most 2 sought after.

Couldn't agree more. It had some interesting visuals and great sound, but not particularly engaging or even necessarily fun gameplay.

well, I ended up trying it for my self and I loved it! it is a simple game, but the music rules. Being a music fan, I really like the way this company makes games(they also made Lumines aka digital crack)

but it's not $80 good...so i'm importing a new copy for $40.
