I know this isn't auction related but topics of this nature are often discussed here. That and I didnt know where else to post it. Anyways here goes...
I bought a game off a CAG for $6. I live in Canada so I like if people can keep declared values low and mark as gift if they feel comfortable in doing so. Anyways I didnt think with this transaction it would be a problem as it was only six bucks. I don't remember any dialogue between myself and the other party surrounding the customs form or anything but I figured on such a low value item it didnt need to be discussed. Fast forward to friday when I got the game in the mail. I had to pay about $8 in tax on it. Why did I have to pay $8 you may ask? Well because the person sending it to me put the declared value FIFTY DOLLARS. He marked the game I paid $6 for as being worth $50 so I got taxed on it. My question is am I in the right asking for some kind of a refund or something? I can't even imagine why anybody would do this outside of just being malicious. How do I handle feedback on something like this? I contacted the CAG on Friday and they have so far ignored my communication with them. Any thoughts on what I should do here or should I just eat the extra cost and leave them positive feedback?
