How to find out my Diablo II cd key?

So I want to install Diablo II on my new PC, but I only have the install discs here, and not the package with the CD key. I have the full game + LoD installed on my laptop here and was wondering if there's a way to find the key somewhere in the install files on it.

(and mods-- if there's any question about whether I have a legit copy, I can post pics of the install/expansion discs.)

OP the cd-key is not tied with the disk so you will have no way of recovering you key from the cd. If you atleast had the retail box you could call blizzard and give them the numbers etc off the box.

In your case your out of luck.

thanks, but did you read the op? I'm not trying to get the key from the disc. I'm trying to get it from my installation on another pc...

YES I READ THE OP.

If you did a proper search google, yahoo answers etc. you would see that what your are asking is not possible. If you have no type of box or slips that came with the game you will have no way of getting a working key as you have no way of proving that you bought the original game and didn't steal or pirate the cd's.

I misread "disk" as "disc" as in I thought you that thought I was trying to get it from the install disc. Sorry for the confusion :)

Actually their is a cd key grabber. I can't post links though due to the other content on the website.

EDIT: PM'ed

Funny, a search showed me the exact opposite. There is a Battle.net CD key grabber out there. Unfortunately the links are all very, very old. However, since I am apparently much better at searching than you are, I was still able to find it.

Magickian's Battle.net CD Key grabber

You may need to try to connect to bnet so Diablo will extract the key in memory, I'm not sure.

(Note to mods, this will only extract a CD key from an already installed and valid copy, it's not a keygen or anything of that sort)

heh, i missed using the word "key grabber" which did yield results. My apologies and nice work to faded, and damian

There is a program there that will locate the CD keys in your old installation... though the site is in polish. You do have to register to download it though as I found out. Took me ages to find one that worked with 1.13. Was trying to find one so I could register my copy on battle.net just in case the drive with my old copy went to crap. My CD cases have been gone for years lol.

found a cdkey viewer that you can use to view the cdkeys used on the installed diablo 2, works for patch 1.13

Hi I only Read a few replies. There is a program we use to use I'm 2003 called cdkeychanger/ I don't remember cdkeygrabber, that sounds so shady. I'll come back after I go through my old folders. I still have everything in tact and if you really have to , email me and I'll find a way to send you the app once I find it. Yes it's possible and easy. Just need the right app. Don't get ripped off for your old keys. " I'll be back".
