Humble Bundle Thread

Might get it for the $1 tier...

I got horrible lag playing online co-op Double Dragon Neon with a friend a month ago. Anyone here had it run smoothly?

Everyone thinking about that second tier just remember Fists of Jesus is a KISS game. You will see it in bundles again. And again. And again.

I've beaten DD Neon & Guacamelee (pre-Turbo).  BTA tier doesn't look $3 inspiring.

Think it's worth a buck?  (I really like brawlers, but at-a-glance I'm doubting these games.)

I was only interested in Fist of Jesus, but I was considering the $1 tier for Reaper. I started reading Steam reviews of Reaper and apparently it's a sketchy mobile port. The other two really don't look very good to me either.

It's probably worth a dollar but nothing stands out to me in that tier. The standout in this bundle is Double Dragon, but at $8 it's too much. Didn't stop me from grabbing it in a group buy for $2 steam wallet though.

If I get in on this bundle, it will mainly be for the soundtracks. Anyone have opinions of the soundtracks in the base tier?

Double Dragon Neon is tremendously entertaining for one playthrough but not a particularly good brawler by any definition. Guacamelee is the king of the hill but you all already have it if you're smart. STCE is a serious rework of pretty much every encounter of Guacamelee but the fiddles and the tweaks are, as far as I can see, so minute you're not likely to realize you're playing a revamped edition so it's only worth double dipping if you think you want to play Guacamelee again.

I keep seeing people say they grabbed it at the top tier. Ugh. Humble price manipulation wins again. Y'all are why the average keeps creeping up.

This is like a slightly less shitty version of that Gala bundle with Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and then a bunch of utter crap that no one is paying attention to because they really just want Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Here the main draw is obviously Double Dragon. And no I'm not counting Guacamelee because everyone who halfway wanted it by now should have it.

I'll just wait for another cheap sale on Double Dragon.

Exactly, I'm interested in Ascendent but not at nearly $5.

But you need to count Guacamelee because not everyone looking at this bundle read RollingSkull's review. Remember, it's the Super Colorful Jammies Luchador Edition, or something.

For those who were going to BTA, it's not a bad deal to grab the top tier. Assuming a $4 average, that puts both DDN and GMSTCE at $2 each, close to if not exactly at historic lows.

Cheapest price for Guacamelee was $1.99 (after loyalty discount), and I think the cheapest price for Double Dragon Neon was $2.12 (after gamefly coupon)

I would also add that people who think like that are exactly the reason the BTA is high, which makes more people think like that because it's even less of a difference, which makes the BTA even higher, which...

I thought they were all about super colorful jammies-wearing luchadors.

(Seriously, though, can somebody remind me what the difference between this version and previously bundled versions is?)
From the press release:

  • Expanded Story: An expanded version of the game that includes DLC content from the original
  • New Game Areas: Players will ride boats through the Canal of Flowers to save a besieged fishing town, and avoid lava as they climb through the fiery Volcano
  • New Boss: Face off against The Trio of Death, a three-headed skeleton that lives in the Volcano, helping the evil Carlos Calaca build his skeleton armies
  • New Abilities: Maximize destruction with the powerful new INTENSO combat mode. Plus: Chicken Bombs and Independent Dimension Swapping
  • New Enemies: Lethal new elite-class enemies that want to chokeslam luchadores to sleep
  • Support for multiple save slots
  • Dual currency system that supports permanent item unlocks
And from a developer:

Here's a few more items that aren't marketing bullet points:

- EVERY level got reworked, and we tried to remove parts that were "cheap"
- EVERY combat arena in the game was examined, and most got new/different enemies to make it more fun
- EVERY enemy in the game had its HP, Damage values, attacks, etc. examined and tweaked where necessary
- The player's attacks and moves got updates as well
Also, SCE recently got a 4-player local co-op mode.

Shhhhhhh....Don't bring your facts in here! All future developer work of a game that I purchased for a buck in a bundle should be FREE b/c

#1) developers should be gracious that I that even paid money when pirating it for free is so easy and inconsequential

#2) Customer is Always Right
#3) All future work on the game counts as a "patch," no matter how much work the developer puts in it
#4) the developer's need for money to keep the company afloat and feed their families shouldn't be MY PROBLEM
#5) Games aren't a luxury, I NEED that +1 in my backlog and developers are the EVIL ones for trying to make a profit with their work.

The sense of entitlement in some gamers is sickening sometimes

Yeah, there was a rediculous amount of idiocy on the Steam forums about that game. The upgrade to me was very much worth the $5. The various changes make it almost a new experience.

i have to ask.. what does +1 do to you guys and why is it so important?
It's worthless really but these are +1s I'll likely play as I'm a fan of brawlers. I wont just take any +1s anymore unless it's given away and looks slightly interesting. I also play all Adult Swim Games even though there are duds mixed in (and Super Combo Man could be one of those) and Fist of Jesus looks interesting.

You jerks. Just because something isn't the lowest price ever doesn't make it a not good deal. Some people don't mind spending 500% more if it's still a good deal.

So that was a real sale and not a glitch? I saw that lowest price on ITAD a month ago. I was thinking about getting one of the dawn of war II versions with gems during the auction, and it made me hold off even though I wasn't sure how real that sale was.

I hope it comes back.

It was when THQ had the license and was probably a we're circling the drain so we don't give a fuck sale.

I highly doubt Sega will ever go that low but who knows?
Well, that sucks. I guess I should've used my gems.
