Humble Bundle Thread

They should just call the Square Peenix sale the "Everything but Final Fantasy Sale".
It's an Eidos sale, plain and simple. Squenix has never really managed to wrap their heads around the idea that Eidos is a part of their company now. They go out of their way to keep the Eidos stuff separate from their core androgyny.

...which is probably why we're never going to get Fear Effect on PC. Oh, well, emulation is free.

I swear Humble sale has hit my wallet bank account harder then the past Steam sales have. Looking at picking up Frozen Cortex now, with it being 66% off (and, from what ITAD showed, the cheapest it's been).

Damn you Humble!
Wait for a bundle. I have it, played for a few hours and after that I'd felt like I'd had my fill. It's not a bad game but I didn't feel like there was a great deal of depth to it.

It'll be top-tier bundle fodder when it finally does make a Humble, so might as well wait and get something else for your money as well.

WARNING: Steam-version still comes with Securom online activation/revoking bullcrap DRM.

They really should remove that crap in Steam-version - it's unnecessary.

Ain't played it in quite a while. I remember back when Tony had it for $4 (Non-Steam), way back.

No clue about servers currently. Even back when I played it, the servers were not heavily populated. If you can get the game activated - you can always boot the game into offline mode, if you have trouble getting online to some servers.

There's also a TDU2 Unofficial Patch around, if you are looking to mod the game.

As an open-world racer, it's pretty good. The thing is - it has a learning curve b/c getting your license often is harder than doing most of the main tournament racing contests + any of the side-quests. If you can by the license-getting (which can get frustrating, at times), you'll probably really dig the game. I had a blast with it - it's like the Skyrim of open-world racing games, basically.

This is what I said about TDU2 before; (also inb4 MysterD talks about it's DRM)

I've had a ton of fun with it, in my opinion it's the best open world driving game I've played. It's like a driving MMO - you start off with a basic car and license, you can participate in single events for small sums of cash, or tournaments to win big money. Winning tournaments also unlocks more licenses you can obtain to drive faster and better cars. You will use your winnings to buy said cars, which you can upgrade/paint (somewhat limited), and also houses to store them in, or you can buy clothes for your avatar (all of the above can be enjoyed strictly single player), and since it's an open world you'll see people driving around every now and then, you can challenge them to races or start cop chases with them, but since it's an old game it's pretty rare.
You start out on the island of Ibiza, which is pretty big, and later you unlock Oahu (I think?) which is frickin' massive. One of the most enjoyable parts of the game was just cruising around all the roads with the sick new ride you just bought. The map will mark which roads have been traveled or not (I think there's an acheevo for 100% roads driven) so some days I'll just boot the game up, pick out a road I've never driven down before, and just cruise. Turn up the radio (the in-game techno station is actually pretty good, and the fake commercials are pretty hilarious, although it can get repetitive) and just drive. That's probably the best part of the game, is just cruising, without any destination or purpose, just get in your favorite car and drive.
The game is not a sim, nor an arcade racer; it sort of falls in between. I've heard a lot of complaints about the handling in the game but I didn't have any problems with it, just don't expect Gran Turismo type gameplay. Also if you're interested in the game definitely check out the Unofficial Patch, it has a ton of bug fixes and also adds a bunch of cars.
As far as EU4 goes, I think you all know my view on the DLC, so I won't go into a MysterD rant about it, but when it comes to paradox grand strategy games, you either love it or you hate it. Some people can't get past the first 10-20 minutes, and some people get hooked and it's pretty much all they'll play (I have 500 hours and I'm still considered a filthy casual). Anyway, if you're at all interested, I'd say download the demo, and play the tutorial while watching a Let's Play/Tutorial video (and yeah, let's not start the whole "kids and their youtube" debate again). I know this sounds very tedious, but grand strategy games have a bit of a learning curve, but it's enormously rewarding once you learn how to play, as you can see from the fact that this game has hooked me (or many others) like no other game has. The last thing I'll say about the game is that the DLC is not necessary for enjoyment (also there will never be a complete version that includes all DLC, you can quote me on that), and it will be on sale again, so no rush there.

The other thing I really liked about TDU2 was shopping. You can hit up shops & buy all kinds of clothes; and even buy houses - sort of like a Sims mini-game, of sorts.

Yep - play enough, Oahu (TDU1 land-mass) gets unlocked.

That dichotomy boggles my mind. They've botched several recent PC port releases and they can't really use the same excuse other Japanese publishers use of ignorance about the PC because they bought a whole Western publisher who has been releasing PC games for decades, for Christ's sake ask them for help/advice/assistance on your damned PC ports Squeenix!

Might buy AC3 since it comes with a steam code. They never said they were doing a "remaster" of the old AC for ps4 right? Can't remember if I read a rumor of it somewhere or if it was for something else.

I paid $5 for it some time back and think I more than got my money's worth. The main servers are generally up, allowing for online play. Even so, most of my online play was just me driving around and going through the single-player campaign.

We have a BGCQ clan, though it's rather inactive. Still, if you decide to play, hit me up and I'll jump on for some multiplayer driving.

Anyone still considering the Paradox build-a-bundle and need another item?  I'd like a copy of the Crusader Kings II DLC collection at 90% off.

Oops.  Misread the base price.  Never mind.

Does it actually come with a Steam key for real or is that just old info they forgot to change?

Alright I ended up getting it. I passed up that game on sale a whole bunch of times but $5 with Steam and Uplay keys both sure why not?

It's the best of both worlds. ;)

There's no DRM-FREE version there. It's missing a world.

Regardless, I guess it's the best of DRM-laced worlds.

That BTA is ridiculous. So if we pay $15 we get the bonus stuff but not the BTA stuff? Has that happened before?
I think it has briefly occurred with one or two previous bundles, though each time it was for a matter of minutes at best. This one just keeps going up.

I don't think that having a $15 tier really made a difference for this one. There were enough high-value contributions early to push the average way up, and more even higher-value contributions have kept the average growing. For many contributors, this seems to be a $50 bundle.

Noticed that unlike most of these bundles that have a default starting price of.. $10? this one defaults to $18 at the low end. Hence the high BTA, currently $17.76...

I still have that tab open.
I don't have any cash right now (stuff happened over the past two days and I'm pretty tapped out), and since you can't raise the amount on gifts... :(

Thanks though, I guess I'm outta luck for some time.

I think that default amount is dynamic. My opening-minute tab has a default starting price of $10, which was the next dollar amount over the BTA. Currently, $18 is the next dollar amount over the BTA.

I notice Pillars of Eternity is on sale right now for $30... not bad but thats only about 30% off. Anyone know how low its dropped? Ive been meaning to play it but would really like more of a 50% off sale or so.  Hell is there a site or something that shows the price history of a game, sorta like that amazon price history site?

Id ask over in the steam thread but that thing is full of nothing but spam and my little pony pics, its ridiculous. Besides the sales on the humble store right now

Or if you just want to go straight to the source then https://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/price?plain=pillarsofeternity but I find the plugin easier.

Note that this doesn't include getting it from other sources with a bit of shenanigans like buying it from Nuuvem using a vpn. I got mine there that way for I think ~ $22 or so. I'm not sure if that works anymore since they've made some changes recently though.

*Edit: Or if you want to go extra Shady then I guess there's CD Keys as mentioned above.

Wow, that Book bundle is nuts.

Also, you guys are right about the buttons being dynamic. I only have $19 and $25 buttons at the moment.

You didn't think it was worth using a key you got for free for a game that has cards?

Oh, that's right, you were going to Bobbytastic it and flip that shit for a profit.
You know with the amount you think about me, I'm starting to think you've fallen in love.

You'll have to get in line though. ;)

Yeah as long as you have Tebow on speed dial I guess I don't really have any chance huh? Plus I don't want to get bitchslapped by Fernandosety.

re: This bundle

I don't really want it so I don't care that the nerds have to pay a few bucks more than the top tier to get everything.  Book bundles tend to be overpriced anyway.  It's still like $1 for each book that apparently most people never wanted to read in the first place, so it's not bad.

Overpriced, sure, but this is something else. And it really can only be attributed to exceedingly enthusiastic fans.

Nice, +3 for a buck. Already have the two BTA games, but might toss in an extra buck for another Robot Roller Derby.

Strange tidbit for the $7 tier:

  • Johann Sebastian Joust - face-to-face physical party game (Mac and Linux only)
also something something move controllers. Not surprised that tier isn't inflating the BTA.

I bought the Phantom Breaker DLC at 75% off and skipped sales on the base game, so this bundle works out great for me.

Hm. Is Divekick worth a few bucks?
It's already been in 2 other bundles (and very cheap on tremor right now), so if you can wait for it to be in a cheaper bundle or tremorbroing it I'd suggest doing that. It's a fun game to play with friends though, and worth a couple dollars
