Humble Bundle Thread

Didn't know Waggles did so many reviews, read his reviews for Where is My Heart? and Steamworld Dig and I couldn't agree more. I'll have to keep an eye out for two CAG reviewers now.
When I read his reviews I think

I think Where Is My Heart? deserves that kind of review though, Steamworld Dig maybe not so much.

Regardless of the length, I at least agreed with the content.

I've made a conscious effort to trim the fluff from my reviews lately, and for the most part it seems to be working (at least to a degree, some can still get longer than I realize).

Waggles will get there eventually.

I only started writing reviews because I've neglected the craft for so many years and I feared I might have lost any skill I ever had in it. I was never very poetic or plain creative in my speech, which is something that I always wanted to improve on, plus I needed something to occupy my time that felt a little more productive. As a bonus, writing game reviews are a great procrastination tool for when I have actual work I should be doing.

Go figure my fractions of a bitcoin isn't good enough for them on the 2K bundle, but fine on the weekly. Oh well, at least wasn't locked out of both as I thought, really hate that system though. Good for charity/devs though as saw the (very small but still) humble tip I was going to give go bye-bye.

So not only did those cocksuckers change/lower the BTA rewards but they silently edited the bundle page and blog and hid the edit.

Curse ended that promo.
fuck Curse
fuck Humble

Those sleezebags don't even have the decency to acknowledge that they offered the bundle like that.

The fact that promo had an expiration date is definitely something that should have been made apparent on the bundle page (though having it end a few days into the bundle is idiotic in the first place).

Did I always have an expiration date though? My suspicion is that they probably didn't expect 800 bajillion people to redeem that offer and pulled the plug.

When I was looking into it at bundle-launch there was not mention of an expiration date. I think three other CAGs also looked into it, no one noted an expiration date. I suspect they ended the promo after seeing the bundle-redeem surge.

I also find it really dishonest of them to pretend it wasn't a front-page-advertised part of the bundle. ...it's like them pulling one game from the bundle, mid-sale.

I'm pretty sure it had expire date of December 2014.
Reading Reddit and SlickDeals seemed to indicate that people were able to redeem on the first day.

http://slickdeals.net/f/7053962-the-humble-weekly-bundle-gamepedia-presented-by-curse?p=69128248

Worth mentioning that redeeming your Curse Premium Subscription also entitles you to another game from GoG::

http://www.curse.com/betas/curse-...e-download

1) Redeem the Curse Premium Key on your Curse account

2) Open the above link

3) Click-through to the GoG link to redeem

4) Log in to your GoG account

5) Choose a game and redeem!

There were many games to choose from:

Sacred Gold

Gothic 2 Gold Edition

Empire Earth: Gold Edition

Divine Divinity

Dungeon Keeper Gold™

Darwinia

Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers

Puddle

Defender's Quest

Megabyte Punch

So really, you're getting ANOTHER game for free!
The Curse rep on Reddit hasn't commented on the GOG thing either

Better take your screengrabs now before they edit.

I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about this yet. There's a couple of people on GOG that talked about it yesterday with one implying that based on a previous situation where Curse ran out of keys and GOG had to issue more, that in this case they again had a finite number of keys which very quickly ran out due to the Humble Bundle and perhaps GOG did not want to issue more.

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/curse_premium_no_longer_offers_a_free_gog_game

Also the curse rep apparently told the one guy that the GOG code he had didn't work "due to an expiration issue". I know that some of those free GOG codes have been known to expire but it seems odd that these would given that GOG expressed the intention to continue this offer at least through the end of the year.

Well I guess I should have redeemed it on day one.  At least that did not factor into my purchase decision because I genuinely wanted three of the games from the higher tiers.  But that doesn't change how dishonest it seems considering that they are now trying to hide the evidence.

Is it me or does the video game industry (companies, devs, sites, etc) have really bad PR? This cursed thing just seems to be the latest, at the moment anyways. Don't try to hide evidence and the such, just say what happened and take the potential flak, it'll probably be less then they'll get now for trying to pretend nothing happened.

(say at the moment as it's possible they could still come out and be honest, but the way the industry acts seems more likely they'll probably think up of some BS reasons instead)

I don't get why people think they can hide, erase or otherwise censor things on the internet. Between search engine caches, Wayback machines and a ridiculous amount of people connected to the net at all times watching, do people seriously think then can get away with sweeping stuff under the rug?

I mean obviously they do because they do it but I don't get it. Did these people just get on the internet for the first time yesterday?

Did I always have an expiration date though? My suspicion is that they probably didn't expect 800 bajillion people to redeem that offer and pulled the plug.
Why does it always boil down to expectations with these corporate assholes. Can't they just assume a crapload of people are going to do it and prepare? Or just not do it at all?

The Google cache for that page has been updated as of about 5 hours ago. It could just be a routine sweep refresh or *puts on tinfoil hat* someone could have requested it.

Seriously, they are fellow Bay Area techie types so they know the drill with Google and I would not at all put it past them to have it erased on Google.

*Edit: It's still up on the Bing cache. Ha!

I've been saying "fuck Humble" since last year.

I wish they weren't a site anymore. Too many bundle sites, and these guys take their fame for granted to screw people over.

Edit: I still can't access my account with 72 purchases on it. Been e-mailing them and reopening cases for 7 months. In contrast, I opened a case with Indie Gala over an account I had with the same broken e-mail address, received a reply within two hours, and had my two accounts merged within two days. Anonymous should hack Humble and take that shit down.

Because hundreds of thousands of people should suffer because you can't get your games.

Overreacting much there? This is how comic book villains start out.

If it takes you away from your games, then yes. Your posts relating to me are always rude and bitchy. I imagine you as Cameron Tucker, pointlessly arguing everywhere in the most dickish ways possible:

He has a point even if it's a bit hyperbolic. They need to be called out on their shit. It's not okay for them to do whatever they want because they can because they're so huge.

And even if they went away tomorrow it's not like the universe would collapse. The unwashed masses can get off their ass and Google indie bundles and realize that other sites exist.

I'm not saying he shouldn't call them out on their shit, but when he proposes doing something that affects hundreds of thousands of people other than him, that's less him wanting to get the stuff he paid for and more like "If I can't get my stuff, then nobody should be able to!" (Cue supervillain theme music.)

I have no clue who you are. Really. ^_^

Foxhack it's the god damned internet people are prone to exaggeration and drama to make a point. It's not like Blade is going to walk into Humble's offices, hand everyone pink slips and shut out the lights.

Take a chill pill.

Yes, they do. They would only be down for a week at most, and everything would remain on their local servers. People wouldn't lose their bundles or purchases. The gist of what Anon does is to send warnings to companies, not to permanently cripple them, but to demonstrate mass disapproval and show them they are not as infallible as they pretend to be. I just want to see them be humbled, as they've been anything but recently.

Aw, there was a "Be Mad at Humble" party and no one invited me? :p

Yeah, that Curse thing seems par for the course since Humble "sold out". It's not like Humble can claim ignorance either seeing as they ninja edit'd the weekly page hoping no one would notice.

How hard is it just to put up a disclaimer saying the free game from GOG is no longer available? Why the dishonest shit instead?

If anyone should be blamed for this it should be that Curse site. They're the ones that ran out of keys, not Humble.

And that makes it okay for Humble to delete it off their page without comment, without notice the page had been edited in any way as if it had never existed?

I definitely do feel like Curse gets a larger part of the blame here, don't get me wrong, but the way Humble handled it by trying to re-write history like it never happened was unethical as far as I am concerned.

Oh no, Humble should have posted a notice about it. If they removed that without notifying anyone then they should be yelled at.

But the way that Curse ran out of keys, it looks like they weren't expecting for them to run out so quickly. Or maybe they didn't remember they even had that offer.

A HIMYM pic? You sir are my new best friend. Love that show. Have rewatched the entire series numerous times on Netflix. HIMYM, Boy Meets World, Big Bang Theory, and Friends are sitcoms I can watch all the time :bouncy: :whee:

How can anyone be mad at Humble right now with the 2K bundle live?

At least wait until the next crappy bundle before venting your e-rage.
