Humble Bundle Thread

Is it still safe to just send a friend a choice game key for a game instead of sending them the url link they click on (and I think need to have a humble account)? I remember there being some issues with that a few years ago.

It's fine, if they ever banned anyone it was just people who did massive amounts of trading with resellers. It's of course safer to use keys because they can't track where or if a key was activated. But its also fine to use gift links if you're actually giving a gift.

I never use gift links. I stopped doing that after people started getting banned. I'd imagine it's fine to use gift links if you're just occasionally gifting stuff to people.. but if you're going through all of your bundle pages and generating gift links for tons of games I would think that has the potential to flag their system. I really wouldn't put it past them for that to happen. Also it's just better to generate a key in general because if you gave someone a gift link and they took their time generating the key from it, there's no guarantee that humble will have a key for them.. it could be out of stock and never get restocked

Yeah the way they let being out of stock follow a gift link is insane. Of course the stuff being allowed to stay out of stock for prolonged periods (sometimes when they do actually have access to keys, like with Roboquest) is even more insane.

Atari: Recharged Retro Revival

Centipede Recharged
Blackwidow Recharged
10% off Yars Rising

$10
Breakout Recharged
Yars Recharged
Gravitar Recharged
Missile Command Recharged

$15
Caverns of Mars Recharged

If you're a long time choice subscriber who doesn't pause, the dlc for expanded is actually cheaper if you don't use the coupon.

Decided to start out with the Recharge games. Edit: I'm an idiot. Asteroids Recharged does have challenges which makes it longer than I thought. Will visit them later.

Quantum Recharged has more content. A number of missions, some that get really hard. Good game overall, though. Berzerk Recharged also has missions, which I appreciate. Not too long of a game, but pretty fun, a little easier than Quantum Recharged I thought.

Atari loves to make most of these games free via Epic or Amazon Prime. And they've bundled some in one or more of Fanatical's charity bundles I think. So it's a little weird for them to put them in a regular bundle for $20. I already got the Atari 50 collection, just need some of the recharged games. I'd buy the $15 tier if it were $5 cheaper.

Damn, the last mission of Asteroids Recharged is ridiculous, but finally beat it. Probably spent more time on it than the rest of the missions combined.

Just tried Missile Command Recharged. The hardest of the four games I've played so far by far.

Not a bundle I want, but for those who do, looks like they're using some new tactic at Humble with limited keys available for early buyers on the newest bundle.

Not to give them ideas, but they probably should have picked some more desirable games if they were going to pull a stunt like this.

Hopefully it bites them in the ass, anyway, with late potential purchasers being more leery of spending the same money on less.

Could be they'll just move those games from the $1 tier to a higher tier once they reach that point, that would be reasonable especially since there's not very many bundles with a $1 tier these days. But there's been plenty of cases in the past of games being removed from bundles during the sales period, especially in the large charity bundles and often with no advance warning at all.

Still Life
Still Life 2

Limited key stuff is garbo and many of these are very old and have been bundled a lot. I'm mainly missing the top tier Agatha Christie games and Murder Mystery Machine (first time bundled games) and that's probably not worth $20 for those games for me.

Humble Choice for Nov. 2024:

Games:

- Lamplighters League
- Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
- Persona 4: Golden
- Cassette Beasts
- Karma Zoo
- The BookWalker: Thief of Tales
- The Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator
- Hexarchy

Coupons:

- 65% off Imperial Edition Upgrade for DarkTide
- 50% off Lamplighters League: Nocturne

I'm up in the air on this month. I own Darktide, and don't have much desire to play more. Lamplighters League looks interesting, as does the BookWalker. P4G, I know is good, but not sure it's for me. The rest, I'm mostly indifferent about.

Easy buy for me, since I wanted/needed DarkTide and Lamplighters.
Already own P4G, so...."meh" for me on that one. Great game and gain, for those missing it.
Rest are just gravy, +1's, or whatever.

At least two games have deadlines for redemption. Warhammer Darktide and Hexarchy have the same redeem date of basically a year and a month from now (December 5th, 2025).

The Imperial Edition coupon is a new highest discount, but only by ~$1. Since the coupon lasts till early January, I will think about it and compare with other stores.

Also, I tried DarkTide on Gamepass, but kept running into crashes a year or so ago. Hope they have fixed it since but could also just have been an out of date Gamepass version compared to the ease of patching a Steam release.

Seeing two Persona games in the Choice in a row makes me hold out hope that Persona 5 will be bundled eventually which I wouldn't have thought previously. Hexarchy and Lamplighters League are exactly the type of games I want to get from these bundles and since I already own P4G and don't care about DarkTide I can easily offset the cost. Hopefully they have another $89 a year promotion this discount season because I still consistently feel $8 a month is well worth it.

Some of the first ones I do want, so this is likely a buy. Bought P4G before in a bundle with P3P, so moot on that and bought Hexarchy on Fanatical a while back and gave up totally on it (I reviewed it and found it very, very shallow after a few plays). It's essentially a deck building Civilization game that plays quickly, but just doesn't feel satisfying. I got my few wins and was getting bored of the technologies, so I just stopped playing. I was mentioning I liked Through the Ages (with expansion for more variety) more although that is very dry to some people. Still an aight enough bundle owning two of the games.

Cassette beasts is a huge want but everything else is a pass for me for various reasons. Off to the trade thread then to see if I can make this month worthwhile.

If I wasn't already locked into that deal I'd consider skipping. Definitely not at $12.

I don't dislike the look of any of these, they just aren't on my radar. Two of them, including the headliner, are co-op games. I like them, but just don't play them anymore, so I know they'll be left unplayed.

The Lamplighter's League might be interesting. Anyone have any experience with that one?

Wow, another marginal month for many people I think. Lamplighters is interesting I guess, might be worth it. Humble really wants me to get into the Persona games. Hexarchy is the only one I'm truly interested in. Darktide is a good game, maybe I'll give that to a friend to have someone to co-op with as no one I know got it besides me when it came out.

Well if you decide to do that just know playtime can vary wildly depending on your playstyle and both what ending you go for as well as how much optional content you pursue.

As social links make up the bulk of playtime bloat due to requirements to unlock increase and max them.

If you just play casually it's probably around 45-65 hours for 4. 3 a little longer due to tartarus. 5 is by far the longest of them since it has more gated pacing with dungeons requirements being 3 trip minimums iirc.

If you skip s links entirely the games would probably only be 35-60 hours with minimum leveling/dungeon crawling.

Tldr they can be long or short depending on what you want to do.

I ended up biting on this one. Claimed P4G, Lamplighters (used the coupon for Nocturne, because in for a penny, in for a pound), and BookWalker. I have someone to give the Darktide key to. I'm debating Cassette Beasts - but if anyone here is interested in Karmazoo, Hexarchy, or Garden Life, shoot me a DM, and if you're a regular here, we can come to an arrangement.

In the past, I would defend Humble's bundles more than anyone else on this forum. However, the bundles over the last few months have been utter garbage. They have either been super niche, a single game with most (not all) of its DLCs, or bundles like this one, where the games are from a single publisher but full of bundled repeats. It looks like we will now rarely get a nice mix of games that are new to bundles.

Also, I have noticed that they haven't sent out their yearly 12-month humble choice deal. Mine expired last month and I didn't get any offers, not even a single month, or a 3 month offer. Are they still giving those out?

Only one more of those Atari recharged games to beat. Damn, Yars Recharged was hard. Now to see if I can finish Missile Command. Edit: and now I remember why I quit. This game is the hardest of them all by far.

I've dropped over 200 hrs in to the game, and have barely touched the DLC (mainly because my friend and I finished the main story before any of the DLC really came out). I'd recommend it for anyone that likes the genre.
