Humble Bundle Thread

Just out of curiosity, has anyone received a coupon/discount on Choice recently? I'm not talking about the holiday yearly discount, but the $4 monthly discount you would occasionally get pop up from skipping. I haven't bought a bundle in a year and in that time was never offered any discount to maintain my subscription like I did in years past.

The last one I got was in like March, I think. Not positive.

Regarding that programming games bundle that was mentioned earlier -

Shenzhen I/O is a hell of a game if you're into its very very VERY specific niche: Assembly programming and wiring up low-level electronics/IoT devices (think Arduino Uno and the like). Good way to learn and practice both, as long as you don't mind learning from a PDF instead of an in-game tutorial anyway. Though I don't think there are many people out there wanting to learn Assembly.. 😆

I used to know Assembly, but that's been lost to time, and I'm sure I don't want to ever do that again. It is fun programming and having a little LED light up or something cause you put it in the on state lol.

I know a little HTML, or at least I did like twenty years ago, how long would it take me to learn to code a game for the NES in assembly?

If you're serious, probably doable in a few years if you spend a few hours per day studying and practicing.

As a kid, I went from writing my first HTML (the website's surprisingly still up) in 2000 to my first C++ game in 2003, just three years, so anything is possible... :)

I keep forgetting how inept Humble Bundle are. I was behind in unlocking keys and had about a 2 months or so of keys I needed unlocked. From one of the bundles (Choice October 2024....I forgot to activate it) 3 of the keys were exhausted, and they were exhausted keys in 2 others bundles. It's not like the other sites where you get a bundle and those are your keys.

I will also complain about Fanatical a bit since I'm about 2 months behind there too and I had a free game giveaway from the Winter sale. I redeemed the game already (revealing it and the key), but didn't redeem it on Steam right away. The game and another I got during the sale (was going to give that to CAGs) keys were already expired. I understand the giveaway codes being expired, but after I revealed it it should be available. It might still be, but I forgot to copy the code. Keys expiring and/or keys exhausted are just jokes and shouldn't be like that at all.

Moral of the story is reveal keys immediately especially for Humble Choice bundles or popular Humble Bundles.

Huh, I was considering buying Immortals on sale, but it seems like future bundle material, so I skipped. And Trepang2 would make the bundle worthwhile I suppose.

Not that I trust leaks these days.

A bit of a drought over at HB after the Nacon Motorsports bundle ended yesterday.

The humble bundle ship has been sinking slowly over the last few years. I guess that they aren't capable of producing bundles with several different publishers within the same bundle as they used to. Thus, the last few months had whole bundles centered around one publisher. When you bundle this way, it is much harder to put together bundles consistently. Unless they can revert to the old way, I expect a much slower drip of bundles going forward. Which may then lead to the company going under :/

I think most of the bundle sites are like that. More expensive and repeats galore over at Fanatical (though most times repeats happen it's cheaper bundles). The last few Humble Bundles have been a bit meh though. I mean Humble doesn't even have keys for lots of their monthly bundles (Crime Boss I'm still waiting for a key from), so it's a mess there.

I'll also add for their other bundles encore bundles are coming out more often now. I just saw Elf Quest complete go up today I think and Terry Moore I believe the other day.

It's gonna need the battle network collections and dive offline to be worth it if it's a high price (which it likely will be). I'm missing those, both X legacy collections, and the Zero/ZX legacy collection.

Choice:

Immortals of Aveum Origin (boo)
Trepang2
Total War Pharaoh Dynasties
Fabledom
Griftlands
Tales & Tactics
Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master
My Little Universe

Disappointed with the bundles lately. I think I've finally decided not to renew again when that time comes even if there's a deal.

Pharoaoh Dynasties is Steam actually. This is still an iffy bundle, though Trepang2 is a high want. I've beaten Tales & Tactics a few times and it's a decent auto battler. It's good for a few runs but becomes repetitive after a while. Griftlands is pretty good too beating it a while back when it was only on the EGS. Worst choice in a while though.

Not a horrible bundle for me, as there are several titles I've at least eyeballed before. For the price, I think I'll bite.

It wasn't just a minute ago. I was typing up a confused and unhinged rant about hamble living in my walls and spying on me but I just refreshed the page and now it's listed as Steam. Odd

You're correct, but they changed it. It originally said Origin when I loaded up the page and had its logo.

I just claimed the bundle and Immortals comes up as an EAO key for me. Ah well. I do prefer Steam, but I'll survive.

If that's similar to the Shogun titles, I'd give it some playtime. Thanks!
It's a 4x Grand Strategy RTS:

Wage total war across the ancient world from the Aegean to Mesopotamia in this free addition to Total War: PHARAOH. Challenge the Bronze Age Collapse by building your own dynasty and leading your faction to victory with new cultures, new units and dramatic new battle mechanics.

If that strikes your fancy, I'll send it your way. Let me know!

Eh, probably worth for me just for Pharoah, since there is no way I'd ever pay more than $3-4 for it on sale given CA's drama with total war warhammer3. That and Trepang2 looks good. Griftlands is not bad but that is another of the few Epic purchases I made several years ago and could have waited for the Steam version. The others look interesting at least. I played the demo of the Dungeon Master game 1-2 years ago and it was kinda meh, that is all I remember of it. Meh.

Decent bundle overall this month.

I was going to be a little miffed when I saw the Origin logo in front of those two games. If I wasn't already locked in for a few months, I may have skipped just because I'm not interested in growing my Origins library.

I hadn't head of Immortals of Aveum. Turns out it's a failed game from Ascendant Studios, which is made up of a mix of devs from Call of Duty, Dead Space, and Telltale Games. EA published the title, which cost $85 M to develop and $40 M to market. Almost the entire studio has been laid off since its release in 2023. The reviews are mixed. Here it is now (co-) headlining Humble Choice.

The other co-headliner: Total War Pharaoh Dynasties is a little confusing. It actually gives you Pharaoh which includes Dynasties, which is a separate install but is the most updated version. Seems like the original title was a buggy mess and they essentially started over.

The last co-headliner, or the assistant to the headliner, Trepang2 looks like good fun and is my only wishlisted game of the bunch. The rest of the games are 50/50 for me.

Also I have to reiterate ACTIVATE or trade/give/whatever the keys right away. Keys can and will run out cause Humble Bundle always oversells especially for monthlies. I'm still waiting for one from September and one from December. I forgot to activate the December one and the September...I just forgot to activate the whole bundle. Not a good feeling.

I was actually kinda excited to get Immortals and try it out but it's a damn EA key. Really sucks the life out of the bundle seeing as I already had trepang2. Bummer. Anyone know if there's a good Steam Deck launcher for EA titles?

Also the Destiny 2 bundle looks decent but not having any knowledge there is that actually everything destiny has out? For someone who's never played is that a decent entry point?

I do believe the full bundle contains everything for Destiny 2 so far. I haven't played in ages completing like the original main game and like 2 DLCs (the first 2 ones).

The two launchers I used were Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris. Don't remember issues with EA titles I seem to remember having problems with Ubisoft titles, under Heroic. Of course I set all that up back when the Steam Deck first launched so there might be better options available now.

And as for the Destiny bundle, that's pretty much everything there is. Just understand that the story/campaign content is limited to The Final Shape since that's the most recent expansion. All the rest of those packs are giving you access to gear, Dungeons and Raids that were released with each pack. There's tons of content here but don't expect one gigantic storyline as most of it has been vaulted away

Damn. Vaulting story mode content is wild. So basically I can get all the content but the plot and character arks will make no sense. I'd say that's crazy but from what I gather that's not the craziest mistake Bungie made along the way with Destiny

Yup, you'll need to google a video for the story arc (if you care to understand it all, lol).

Bungie def leaned heavily on FOMO but the vaulting came about from the file size becoming too big & bloated. Plus it was causing a lot game breaking bugs.

Yeah I recently learned that leaving monthlies was a mistake. Over the weekend I was going to install Ghostwire Tokyo only to see that they yoink'd my key. No warning, no refund. Apparently they snuck in and quietly added an expiration date to the headlining game several months after they sold me the bundle. Unacceptable.

Caring about plot / lore in Destiny is... eh, really not worthwhile anyway. I played from D1's launch up until the time the game went F2P. I enjoyed the gameplay (the pinnacle being multiplayer raids), but overall feel like I've played enough Destiny.

Edit: I was going to post something critical regarding the one character that I would genuinely describe as entertaining.. but it turns out they're doing something with that character & VA after all. Good for them.

I am working on a list of keys with expiration dates from bundles, most of which were from Humble. I have covered stuff from the last three years or so with the help of the community on SG. Maybe you all would find it helpful.

Another forum I posted it on with a different way to view it: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/CCNQO/centralized-list-of-keys-with-expiration-dates

Anyone else find it weird that they released the Destiny Bundle on the same day they released their monthly bundle? Especially since they didn't have a bundle to release today? I assumed it was because they were going to have another bundle release today as well....

Aveum is already barely over $1 on key sites, lol. Any chance this will be free on Epic? Do they ever giveaway EA titles? The magic FPS thing is kinda dorky, but the graphics look good.

Optimistic Humble might do a Total War bundle this year. Would be nice to get Troy and Three Kingdoms on the cheap. I only have Attila.
