So if you hadn't followed my old thread, I bought an XBox 360 to get back into gaming. I want to shoot myself in the face. Here's a quick recap:

* Reads games with varying results (freezing, reboots, etc.)
* I've had to reformat the hard drive twice
* I've already had a RROD after about two weeks which was suddenly solved by taking out and putting back in the hard drive
* It sounds like a plane taking off
* The power brick is a BEAST that I struggled to hide behind my entertainment center

Is this really what gaming has turned into? Shit, I might just use a PS3 on my SDTV if it means I don't have to troubleshoot my console EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to play a damn game. So much for recreation.

Seriously, why all the hate on the 360? It's an awesome console with awesome games, and the only online multiplayer that actually works well. I'll never understand the fanboy shit. All consoles play games, so it should only matter what you like to play. I hate all the "Microsoft blows" and "Sony sucks dick" crap. Get over it, or get out of gaming. And, for reference, if I have to pick a console out of the three, I'd still pick 360, cause it's the only thing that has everything I want.

The newer 360s with jaspers sound a hell of a lot better. Still a good amount of drive noise, but basically silent other than when reading DVDs. I could hear the fans running on my previous ones. Smaller power bricks too, about 2/3 or so the original size.

And honestly, other than an RROD, which I grant are annoying as hell, I haven't had half the problems you've had, so you obviously got a bad unit.

??? I was speaking about OP trolling, I actually agree with your view

Did you buy it used?

If so, WHY? Why would ANYONE buy a next generation system used? Wait another paycheck and buy it brand new.

And if you truly want to feel old.. just think, almost all of the kids that started kindergarten this year were born in 2004.

Had mine for awhile an no issues. You either take shit care of your consoles or you bought it used. I highly doubt you got a new one, they're built better than what you described.
Jaspers are still pretty loud..
Did you also know that pigs fly?

Jaspers make no more noise than any other console.

Whatever, I'm just saying, to try both XBL and PSN, and you'll see what I'm talking about. And I wasn't being a fanboy, I was stating a fact. There's a reason people with XBL pay for it.

I own both thank you very much. Check out my GT too, I'm a gold member and have been one for a while now.

Oh, btw
Alright, fine, that comment was fanboyish. It doesn't change the fact that people hate on the 360 endlessly for no reason.
Nah, it's just some places that people hate on it constantly. Try going to NeoGAF, now there's a place full of hate for it.

Every system gets it share of hate. 360 for the RRoD, PS3 for online, and Wii for its abundance of casual games (I think). It's all good though, at least you manned up to it and admitted the comment was fanboyish, kudos for that. :applause:

I don't know, it seems like everywhere on the internet, even NON-GAMING sites, are just filled with hate for it. I don't understand because MS made a kickass system. I had one from 2006 up 'til july when it stated to overheat, but I also leave it on almost 18+ hrs a day. I now have a jasper and it's awesome. And yet, the hate is still there. I think people should just start randomly hating something else now.

I have a 360 and PS3 and I agree that Live is superior. Not a fanboy comment, just an honest opinion.

EDIT:
People only hate on the 360 because their mom won't buy them both consoles, or they had the unlucky misfortune of the RRoD a few times.

I know a few people personally that still have their launch 360's working flawlessly. It's a weird statistic.

My jasper is still loud, but about as loud as my 60gb PS3, so it's all the same. If you get past the hardware issues and hang in there, you'll get some enjoyment out of the 360, but it sounds like you would benefit from having a handheld system to compliment it and both the DS and PSP have a lot to offer.

Calm down, Xbot.

Do you own all 3 consoles? If you don't, be quiet. My roommate's Jasper is significantly louder than my phat PS3 and my other roommate's Wii. You probably don't know that, since you most likely do not own all 3. You're just pulling shit out of your ass.
I have a 360 and PS3
Mind telling me why you only have your XBL-ID listed in your info? ;)
Mind telling me why you only have your XBL-ID listed in your info? ;)
Does it matter that I do not have my PSN ID on my name? Trying to be a smartass of course, but I don't play on PSN. I had it up for awhile, but I never used it, so I took it down. I am actually in the process on selling my PS3 because I never use it.

Believe it or not, I've had my 360 Core system since the very first day it was launched and have yet to experience ANY problems with it at all. Idk if its just luck of the draw or what but my friends 360s have all had RRoD. That being said, honestly if you are tired of the luck of the draw system that seems to be buying a 360, then go ahead and buy a ps3 slim. I got my 360 first and my ps3 later but both are running fine though I do hear much more complaints about the 360 problem-wise.

I didn't care for the ps3 at first and almost regretted buying it but man, now I can honestly say I enjoy the ps3 more than my 360. I bought it when good games were scarce but now theres plenty to keep ya goin and honestly I've used XBL and PSN fairly extensively and while XBL has some features that are better than the PSN, the PSN is a perfectly fine online service, I rarely experience lag and being a poor college student, I really enjoy not having to pay for online.

Sony has overhauled the PSN ALOT since the beginning and definetly seems to be trying to cater to the demands of the players. Basically both are good systems, I do happen to have been enjoying my PS3 more lately though.

I do not own a PS3, but all my friends have one because they love ratchet & Clank. I have had at least a years worth of playtime on all three, and I can tell you that only my 360 has given me a consistant experience every time I play. That aside, I believe that almost everyone here would agree that, unless it's a pre-Jasper 360, 360's are just as quiet if not quieter. Please don't accuse me of not knowing what I'm talking about if you don't either.

Come on. If you were really that old you'd know that Microsoft is the Dan Snyder of technology companies. As a Microsoft customer you should be happy to pay a premium for beta testing their second foray into console gaming. Besides it's got XBLive! and Halo!

I personally own a 360 that was manufactured in 2006. It is loud as hell. I already know that the Jasper is quieter than the older models but I simply stated that they are still pretty loud. The Jasper 360 is still loud in my opinion when compared to my PS3 so I don't see why you had to make your stupid comment about pigs flying and your continuous pulling of the shit from your ass. It's so obvious that you're a 360 fan boy because I simply stated that the Jasper is still loud and you're just freaking out about it. I don't care what kind of "consistent gameplay" you get because that is irrelevant to that fact that I merely stated that Jaspers are still pretty loud.

But yeah, I'll just leave your precious 360 alone though, I wouldn't want you to go off on a tangent and preach about how much your love your XBL, "consistent gameplay", and Bill Gate's butthole.

Huh, you've got insomnia too. Well, you can take my comments any way you see fit. If you need to distort them to make you out to be the righteous, anti-fanboy, "can't all consoles get along?" guy here, then that's cool.

Oh, and just to let you know, hating on one console makes you a fanboy the same way that loving one console does. Just to let you know.

Well, good night, and I hope you get some sleep. God knows I need some.

I have whisper max fan on my system, and usually keep the nitro on. Keeps it extremely cool and ventilated. So, yeah, mine's probably the loudest, but I never notice it. I have my volume up or music going, and I might invest in some Turtle Beach X41's, so I'll definitely not hear anything.

My dreamcast is probably just as loud, if not louder than my 360. Some old systems are loud as hell too.

I have an Intercooler on my 360 because the system is a second hand Core system from around launch. It's so freaking loud, haha. The good thing is, it drowns out the girlfriend and helps me focus on me games. If only I had some more play time recently. :[

Wait what? Hate for the 360? If anything the media and internet are sucking Microsoft's cock for the 360 and lubing up their cunts to accept any and all fuckups on that console regardless of how catastrophic they may be. If anything Americans are the most lenient on the pinto of the console market reliaiblity wise.
Alright, fine, that comment was fanboyish. It doesn't change the fact that people hate on the 360 endlessly for no reason.
Oh god...
I'm not so sure the PS3 is that much quieter than my 360. Side by side mine seem about the same.
My 360 is a bit louder then my PS3 at most times. But, if I have my PS3 on for a while it starts to sound louder then my 360 (due to the fan spinning faster). I prefer the 360's consistency, because my PS3 scares the crap out of me sometimes - feel like it is going to blow up.

LOL, I like reading the post and just hearing the guy vent over his poor luck with a system turn into a fanboy war. Look guys, fanboy or not all systems have their issues and MS is infamous for their RROD. Thats just a fact. I personally have a PS3 and a 360 and both have been running fine for more than a year now (knocks on wood), but I must agree on some points.

360 is loud because after playing Borderlands last night it made my drive run almost constantly (should be fixed now that I installed it though). PS3 seems to keep the sound down because of its size (like placing something in concrete, although Im curious how it is in the slims.)

Live is superior to PSN (Paying for it sucks monkey balls)

Avatars AND Home sucks monkey balls (previously mentioned)

Oh and Im starting to feel old too because I miss the days of the previous generations where I never had any issues with my system (except NES and its crappy yellow screen/blinking). First time other than the NES I had issues is when my fat PS2 after a number of years and college dorm rooms, started having trouble reading the blue CDs. That was it. Now I gotta prop up my 360 and PS3 like they were porcelain vases or something because if I dont they overheat.

I just know that my first arcade system purchased in Dec 2007 got the "freezing" issue so Ms replaced that one. While it was sent away in May 2009 I purchased another arcade at BB has been fine ever since(knock on wood). My launch ps2's psu burned out about a year after purchase. Numerous friends of mine have had lasers burn out in theirs also. Some people get lucky and everything works for years and others not so much. However, I believe that :360: is very error prone but, it's very random.

Microsoft puts out shoddy products all the time, but they counter-balance this with some of the best marketing in the tech biz. Who else could get away with charging for Live and having an army of message board enthusiasts championing this decision? I will grant that even for Microsoft the RROD and other assorted 360 woes are an epic fail, but in the end they are just a chapter in the long history of shoddy Microsoft offerings.

Any day of the week you could google "Microsoft" and come up with more evidence that they just don't give a damn about QA.

I don't blame the kids for overlooking all this in their haste to get Halo or Gears, but an old-timer you should have known better OP! :)

Unlike some here, I don't like supporting companies that put out shit products. i.e. the corporation that puts out a crappy PC OS, an even crappier mobile OS, and recently a piece of hardware that has an abysmal failure rate (and they did this knowingly in a rush to get to market). Microsoft is one of the great examples of a monopoly. With stupid consumers who just buy their crap like lemmings, we will see a day when all products are sold by MS. And they will all be shitty. ALL HAIL MICROSOFT!

Fixed.

Seriously though, this thread has turned into a shit fest.

Yep, the fanboys really show their true colors in these threads, it's hilarious.

See now, if this was my forum, I'd give permission - nay, issue a decree! - that threads like these must be so bogged down in pictures of LOLcats that further flam(ebait)ing is impossible.

...

Cheapy, if you die eating a Windows 7 burger, do not leave the site to me.

I've had my 360 for few years now...my first problem with it was that it scratched two game discs (360 wasn't mishandled) and Microsoft wouldn't replace 'em, but they did give me Kameo since COD4 and Ghost Recon got messed up. Then came the RROD...twice. Thanks for putting out great hardware and even better support, Microsoft!

Thing is, this business is different from the OS biz. People do have options.

All I have to say is in the console biz Microsoft better get it's QA up to snuff or another American company is going to find out what it's like to get beaten by the Japanese.
