Indiana Deals Thread

So here is a question to ponder.

I know here in Muncie we are forcasted for 10-14 inches up until tomorrow morning.

With it being a week before Christmas and TRU, BB, and Target having Wii's in stock tomorrow. Do any of you think people will actually be stupid enough to wait out for hours in almost blizzard like conditions? Or will the weather be bad enough to drive people away in the morning to the point where you can walk in Sunday afternoon to a bunch of Wiis?

I went to the Meijer last night to scope the games out. The only deal that I thought was particuarly good was Persona 3 for $30. There were still 2 left last night. If some of the other games drop more I'll bite, especially on Tony Hawk's Project 8 for XBox 360. I doubt they'll survive long enough with it being the XMas push and all.

I drove by that Family Video last night on my way from the lights show at Franke Park and saw the mess of cop cars, police tape, and the dead body laying covered with a tarp in the parking lot. I'm not sure exactly how it all went down though.
I think he was talking about the shooting. ;)
see that is what happens when you dont get much sleep LOL you misread what people want to know.

im guessing that was the ill. road one. I probally would of grabbed persona 3 for 30 just for my collection.

Greenwood Meijer didn't have any Persona 3 or Odin Sphere. I picked up Jeanne d'Arc, Metal Gear AC!D 2, FF IV, Sigma Star Saga, Beyond Good & Evil (PS2), Psychonauts (PS2), Tomb Raider Legend, and Kingdom Hearts II for pretty cheap. This Christmas will be good for the cousins again. I love these holiday sales.

If anyone wants to trade the Jeanne d'Arc for Odin Sphere or Persona 3, hit me up. I'm willing to throw in another game from my trade list.
So what's this Meijer sale?
Meijer clearanced out a whole bunch of games. The best finds were Odin Sphere, Persona 3, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Not only that but yesterday they were taking 10% off all clearance prices and you could buy 1 one get one free on all last-gen games priced under $20.

I was out of town over the weekend, but around Thursday of last week the Southtown WalMart had a big bin of $10 games. I picked up Chicken Shoot (Wii) for my kid, and 2 copies of Brain Age 2 for gifts. I was at the Coldwater and Apple Glen Wal Marts later, and neither had this bin up. Thought it was weird. Friday the bin was picked over. Lots of PS2/Xbox/PSP stuff left, but Wii and DS titles were almost all gone. All the Brain Age titles were gone.

I remember seeing:
Scurge: Hive (DS) and Scurge (GBA)
Flash Focus (DS)
Brain Age 1 & 2 (DS)
Chicken Hunt (Wii)
Elite Beat Agents (DS)

If I play it too, am I a masochist?
It was just a stocking stuffer...kind of fun when combined with the Zapper.

I wonder if devopers who are going to support the Zapper will think though the design and start letting you choose to use the nunchuck trigger instead of the B button on the Remote. I know people are panning the Zapper, but I think that there are a few developers who might be able to do cool games with it.

I could see House of the Dead or Area 51 being remade into budget releases for Wii.

For $10, I'd play it too. I figure that if I get entertained for an hour at that price, it's money well spent.

Do any of you guys around Fort Wayne know of any good ways to get rid of some guides? I'm wanting to see if I could sell off some of them since I need some space in my closet. I'm thinking I could try McVans, Village Books, and Hyde Brothers books. I could also see if any CAGs in the area want them as well.

I'm looking at getting rid of :

Call of Duty Finest Hour
Counterstrike
DOA4
Def Jan Fight for NY
Doom 3 (Xbox and PC)
Enter the Matrix
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus
Final Fantasy X (Cover is torn up in a few places. garage sale find)
Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (sealed)
GTA: San Andreas
GTA III
The Unauthorized Halo 2 Battle Guide
Mortal Kombat : Deception (sealed)
Need for Speed Underground
Pokemon guide for Yellow, Red, and Blue
Pokemon guide for Gold and Silver (Versus guide)
Pokemon guide for Emerald
Pokemon Colosseum guide
Psi-Ops : The Mindgate Conspiracy
Saint's Row
Scarface: The World is Yours
Shadow the Hedgehog
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Star Fox: Assault
The Darkness
Transformers the Movie
Tron 2.0
The Sims Online

Do you think I could get anything for these? I kind of want them gone and could even sell them off as a large bundle, if any of you would want them. I'm thinking about trying McVans and trading some of the better ones. I might be able to get $3 or $4. I've gotten that much there before. The rest I might try at one of those book stores. Do think that could work?

I may want the Goldeneye : Rogue Agent, Starfox Assault and the Sonic and the Secret Rings guides. PM me what you'd want for all three and we'll see if we can work something out.

mcvans will only take RPG guides and give 2 to 3 bucks for them..they will even only give 3 bucks for xenogears and suk 2 guides LOL

they got 100s of the Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (sealed) cause i was trading in all of the copies i got off best buy penny sale years ago

might be intersted in Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

also they wont trade for the better guides.
You could maybe move some of them on switchplanet.com. There are some book traders there.
never thought about switchplanet. then again i got around 500 pts there now. site seems to be dying with the caps they put on items

I've never heard of that site before. I'll check it out, but I would like to avoid doing a lot of shipping if possible. I'm wondering if I should put a bundle of them on craigslist? I really think I should try village books and maybe a few other book stores in town to see if they would take them.

for whats its worth. I had a bunch of school books a couple of months ago and was trying to sell them and every local book store I went to didn't want them and while I was there I asked about guides and most said they didn't carry many try mcvans. I dont think I asked about selling at that time. but most stores had like 10 or less. good luck

Check and see if Disc Replay does books.
Try Atomic Hobbies & Comics too.

I imagine most places would be more likely to give you store credit than cash.

I've already asked Disk Replay and they don't . I really don't have any idea about the other place. I've been in there a few times, but I don't think I ever saw any games.

They carry a handful of Xbox and PS2 stuff, along with all kinds of systems and accessories. Last time I was there they had a dreamcast, n64, and some xboxes.

Opps. I meant to say that I had never seen any game guides at that atomic hobbies shop.
Sears has a ton of copies of Elite Beat Agents for $5.97. They also have some other cheap games still.
are you talking sears in glenbrook mall?

may have to go over tomorrow and see

last time i looked Mid oct they did away with all of their cheap games

The bin is still there at Sears, but there wasn't a lot of variety in it.

I was at Gamestop at Glenbrook today...they have a used copy of Chicken Shoot for $36. Someone really needs to figure that one out.
They were behind the PS3/PSP games (not on the side accessories and 360 stuff is).
thanks will hopefully stop today. might grab fish tycoon over at CC for 10 and run over to sears. beat is still red at mcvans so its top level might be able to get a good game cheap

Anyone looking for Half-Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1 for PC?
I already have both, so I have gift subscriptions from my Orange Box that I'd sell/trade.

You guys ever run into the "too many small giftcards" paradox after the holidays? I have a bunch of $15 Gift Cards, but never to the same place. So unless they have discount games...I end up sitting on them until I need to buy something there anyway.

I didn't get any giftcards, but I understand what you mean on small ones. They can be annoying.

I was at Value City two days ago and actually saw some interesting games near the register. They had PSP Capcom games for $20 (like both Mega Man games, Monster Hunter Freedom, both Classic collections, etc.). Also had PSU on PS2.

While I was at Meijer on Jefferson, they had Jeanne D'Arc on PSP for $17.99 on clearance. Persona 3 is gone.

I just got Super Swing Golf on Wii for $20 at Sears. I still saw a few interesting games on clearance, but not as much as before.

Anyone here locally in fort wayne who have Extra copies of the

MAD MONEY BOOK that came in the mail 1/10 2008

i will be interested in trading for the Golden corral coupons.

THere is also a BUY 3 get a 4th game free from disc replay..

if anyone has any extra Golden correl coupons let me know. I will trade for them
I've never had Golden Corral. Is it like Ryan's? I used to eat at the latter ages ago.
Yes, same American Buffet concept.
I've never had Golden Corral. Is it like Ryan's? I used to eat at the latter ages ago.
i think its a lot better then ryans (then again i was only like 1o to 15 when ryans was around)

they got pizza. chicken. steak, fudge, ice cream, salad bar. fish. meatloaf. more stuff all you can eat for 7.xx before 4 or 10 bucks after 4pm

the trick is to go around 330pm that way you can sit there until 4pm and get the better food they put out at 4pm and only pay 7 instead of paying 10.

we usually go every other saturday.

its 100000000000x better then the crap ponde? (on coldwater) has now.

Sounds good - I'll have to take the kids when we're up that way...but every time I hear "buffet" I think of the one in Vegas Vacation. Ew.

I have computer parts to sell in the Ft. Wayne area.
If anyone is intersted. I have a mATX mothherboard, Core2Duo 1.8 GHz CPU, 1GB of DDR400 RAM, and a 7600GS AGP video card. I'm trying to move it as a kit. This was my former gaming rig. If anyone would like info feel free to PM me.

I got the book but no golden coral coupon. mannn...

sorry

I've been doing a little cleaning and decided to go through the guide list. I got box of guides to get rid of. I want to try and sell them off as a bundle. I thought I'd ask here since I'd rather not ship this if I don't have to.

Here's what's in the box:
Counterstrike
DOA4
Def Jan Fight for NY
Doom 3 (Xbox x2)
Enchanted Arms
Enter the Matrix
Final Fantasy X (Cover is torn up in a few places. garage sale find)
GTA: San Andreas x3
GTA III
Need for Speed Underground
NBA Live 07
Pokemon guide for Yellow, Red, and Blue
Pokemon guide for Gold and Silver (Versus guide)
Pokemon guide for Emerald
Pokemon Colosseum guide
Project Gotham Racing 3
Saint's Row
Scarface: The World is Yours
Sega Dreamcast Codebook Winter 2000
Shadow the Hedgehog x2
Splinter Cell
Tron 2.0
The Sims Online

Do you think I could get someone to bite on that? I thought I'd offer it to you guys first. I might also try McVans, but I'd feel odd taking that big box in. If I have to, I'll try the trading boards here and at Digital Press.
I've never had Golden Corral. Is it like Ryan's? I used to eat at the latter ages ago.
I think Golden Corral is like a buffet. I see them all the time.

Don't remind me of Ryan's. I had it once and didn't like it (Ft. Wayne location shut down though).

Yeah, you can see about trading those games in. Although, I usually didn't have very good luck selling stuff to McVan's for credit or whatever, so I stopped using them. That was a long time ago though (like 7 years).

went over friday . seeems mcvans dropped their buy guides to 50 cents to buck each and mostly only want RPG guides.

LOL xenogears they offered 4 bucks and they had one sitting on the floor for 40

Guess I won't be going there to get rid of those guides. It looks like I'll have to sell them on the boards or try ebay.

Speaking of McVans, I've been needing a part time job while I finish up college. I've been thinking about applying there, but I imagine working for that place would only be a little bit better than working for GS, which isn't saying much. Too bad there isn't much part time IT stuff besides somewhere like Geeksquad, which I want to avoid.

I'll check again with my boy and see if he wants any more of your guides.

As far as part-time IT goes, you may want to check Qualx or Banctec. They contract with Dell to do on-site stuff, so look into that.

Oh - thought I'd ask - anyone else going to see Rambo when it opens? I'll probably go see it on the 26th.

Us Fort Wayne area guys ought to have a Meetup somewhere. I know it was kind of discussed before, but nothing came of it.
FW guys need to drive down to Indy so we can all join in on the fun.
I'd like to go down to Indy sometime, but it'll cost too much for me in terms of gas and other stuff. Don't they have a Fry's in Indy? I've heard that place is pretty good and I would be tempted to spend a lot there and a few other places.

By the way, do you Indy guys have any good thrift stores down there? Up here all we have are some goodwill stores and a salvation army store. I'm stuck going through those till yardsales start up again. The pawn shops up here suck as well. They're just the chain types ones that don't accept any old gaming stuff.

A few non-Goodwill/SA thrift stores, but nothing that stocks games. Fishers has a McVans that has a fairly good stock of old things, but of course they ship between stores. The non-chain pawn shops are hit and miss of course, but there are a few of them in the area.

As for Fry's its in on the North side on I69, and its as good or bad as you may have heard.

good luck getting a job at mcvans. almost everyone whos worked there been there for 5+ years cause they do nothing but stand around all day .

the only way to get fired is to piss off dave (owner)

that is why you always see the same people working in the stores. who in the hell would quit an easy ass job like that
