Indiana Deals Thread

When I used to work at a video store I had a similar policy. I'm just now getting used to being back in Indianapolis, but I love being back. This is my home. Do any of the Indianapolis CAGs ever get together?

Well, I'm going to flat out admit that I have seen great deals at Meijer, but I'm kind of keeping a little quiet about them. If people want to know what PS3 deals I saw, you can ask me in private (I tend to do want to say too much or I'll be seeing hoarders take everything just to sell).

As for Indy, I was there on Wednesday, but not for long. I don't go there all the time (like 2-3 times every month), but my Dad goes down there a lot because of a certain situation with my older sister (she lives in Indy). There's a SMALL chance I'll get a job in Indy, because a few companies down there have my resume, but it's more likely I'll end up in another state (such as the D.C. area, Florida, Chicago area, Ohio, Pittsburgh area, etc.). I actually hope to stay in Indiana, but haven't had much luck finding jobs around here.

Like I posted in my blog, I did go to the job fair at my old college (in West Lafayette, IN) on Wednesday and it went really well. I just hope to finally get something.

I just wanted to tell Indiana CAGs that the good news is I finally got an email from a company wanting to do an interview with me (they are located in Indiana). I really hope to get it since it's in an area I really like, and it will keep me in the state of Indiana. If I have no luck, I may end up in Illinois.

Good luck, what kind of company?

did not have time to run to Ill road in fort wayne but LIMA rd

DS games

Track and feild 9.90
AIr port something 9.90
Megaman starforce 2 14.90
Locks quest (got last copy but aking back ) 14.90

they had 1 copy of persona 3 for 14.90 (not worth it to me)
Nope.

I didn't pay too close attention to the DS/Wii stuff at Meijer, but they didn't have much left.
yea the one on Lima the only cheap PSP game was Tennis 3 and some other game drop dead fred or something like that .. neither was worth 10

after looking more at these games and at the massive backlog i got i might take all of them back Thursday beside the AIRPORT GAME... i found that game fun and is worth 10 bucks...

If locks quest was 10 i probally would of kept it but not worth it for 15

All right, which CAG after Thursday afternoon went to Sears and hoarded all the $4.97 games for PS3/360, such as Formula One: CE, Dynasty Warriors GUNDAM, NBA Street Homecourt, Tenchu Z, etc.? I went there today and noticed everyone of them was gone.

I stopped by the castleton Meijer and the only good things they had on sale were some 75% off copies of Command and conquer 3: Kane's wrath and F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate. They did have about four copies of the collector's edition of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King at retail price ($79.99???). Also a rediculous number of the lunch box special editions of Fallout 3 for both PS3 and 360 at retail price (69.99 I think).

Also stopped by the Castleton Circuit City. Games are marked off 40% now and pretty all the good games were gone. Did see two special edition copies of Saints Row 2 and after the discount I think they would be about $40. Also some NCsoft time cards for cheap. But the big surprise was the rediculous price they wanted for the regular edition of WoW at $40 before discount. As far as I could tell all copies of Wrath of the Lich King were gone, but then again the organization they had at the store was terrible. Finally I will still say the TVs are overpriced. When they want $1800 for a 46 inch LCD TV when you can get the same price or better online...you can guess they were not moving TV sets.

Gregg in Indy. It was an opened box display model though. The prices are even higher than Stucky Brothers in my area (who has crazy high prices usually), which is sad.

I got a 37" LCD from Stucky Bros's a couple of months ago. Their prices were the same as everyone else, and they price match. (and they're a warranty center for LG and Toshiba and have pick up service if your TV breaks)

You guys do know that 120 hz is a rip off right? Also, NEVER EVER buy a display model TV.

Case in point, we didn't have a signal going to our TVs for the last five hours of the day today. Some have a nice feature where the No Signal indicator floats around the screen but some TVs (LG is one of the brands) just sit there as a nice static image for hours. We turn those TVs on at open and turn them off a few minutes before close. Most days that ends up being 12 hours straight.

Know why? Because we don't really give a damn about displays that we don't own. It's true for any display of any kind. I've doing my best to discourage anyone from buying displays but people still want them. My boss and I have a running joke that people want displays more when you warn them about it the same way dudes love skanky whores even more after they get a nasty STD.

Every single TV in my household is open box.

I actually like having 120Hz. While most things it would make a difference for, a few things I have it does.

There prices aren't as bad as they use to be IMO. Best Buy and CC seem high IMO.

The following were available at the Greenwood Target today:

In the clearance section

Singstar Vol 1 with 2 microphones: $29.98
Disney Sing something or other $29.98 (I was unfamiliar with the game but it looked to be based around their current crop of "Tween" shows and not their animated classics)
PS3 Guitar Hero Aerosmith- 25ish
Haze- 19.98
Too Human- 19.98
360 Kung-fu Panda -no price tag
A bunch of Rock Band 1 bundles for $99
Miscellaneous EA sports games that I can't recall the exact details for

Still in the main cases but marked with clearance stickers:

360
Tomb Raider Underworld, Soul Caliber IV, and Brothers in Arms- 41.98

PS3 Farcry 2- $29.98 Unfortunately, the 360 version of this is still full price at 59.98

I would have jumped on Farcry 2 if it were the 360 version. As far as I know that is GREAT price on the PS3 version and they are pretty much technically identical, but unfortunately the people I'd play it online with only have 360s. That is a decent price on Too Human if you missed Wal-mart's earlier online sale of the game. Unfortunately, I just picked it up used through Family Video.com

The SingStar bundle is still cheaper at Meijer if you can find it, but is worth watching for another price drop. Haze can obviously be found cheaper elsewhere.

We literally made a mountain out of the new Guitar Hero World Tours we got in from the Columbus CC. We got at least a dozen of the 360 version and almost that many of the PS3 version.

We also got a crapload of Yoga Mats, Wii Fit Sleeves, Zappers, Steering Wheels, and Sports Kits.

I think we also got in the Garmin 260 but I tried to avoid the camera/GPS section like the plague today.

I keep waiting for the Greenwood CC to drop the price on GH-related accessories. My wife and I have been watching the desk-top drum kit, mostly for the foot pedal, but it's been stuck at 20% forever. :\

i got around 8 games im going to be returning to Sears come around Friday

2 def jam icons
1 nba homecourt
3 Ps2 junk titles

and not sure off hand what the other 2 are will list them when i get back just a heads up if anyones going overt here this weekend

Hey guys, I'm going to be doing my rounds around Greenwood as well. I read in another post that Deals the dollar store has $3 Original Xbox games so I was planning on stopping there and seeing what I could snag. I'll let you know what I get when I return.

Hit up Greenwood and here's what I err..... didn't find haha. Circuit City was pretty bare to say the least. They had probably 10 total 360 and ps3 games in the whole store condensed on the left hand side wall. Very slim picking for console games and they were 40% off. Still had a decent selection of pc games, forgot to check what % they are though. Tv's were still 25% off and had quite a few. If your in the market for console games though, I wouldn't waste the gas. Hit up Best Buy. Seen a few new markdowns for 360. They had Blitz: The League 2 for $20 and Samuri Warriors 2: Empires for $20, everything else looked the same. The thing that confused me the most was that they were sold out of the 4000 Microsoft Point Cards for $50, but they had a few of the 4000 cards with GTA 4 on the front of them for $45, lol. Don't hold me to this but I'm about 95% sure they are the exact same thing, so why the cheaper cards were left is beyond me. Next I went to check out Deals which is right across the street from the Best Buy to see if they had those $3 original Xbox games, but they either didn't get any or they sold out quick. I checked the entire store, including the food aisle just to make sure, no dice. Last, I hit up the Target clearance. Still had the same old stuff. 1 copy of Last Reminant for $41, Unreal Tournament 3 (360) (I believe $27 but not 100% sure on that), Fracture $20, Tomb Raider Underworld (360) $41, had 2-3 copies of Disney Sing It for ps3 but didn't check price and 1 copy for ps2, and still had 2 Rock Band 1 complete bundles for $97. From all of those stores, I walked away with nothing haha. So I went to Gamestop and bought Zoids Assult for $30. Not a deal but wanted to get the game, since only 1601 people have played the game in the world haha. Anyways, game on, and happy bargin hunting!! :)

Damn. i was on the south side last weekend and stopped by Circuit City specifically hoping to find a 4000 point card. Didn't see the GTA cards. Were they with the other video game stuff or in another area? Also, were they in the clamshell packaging? I may have to make another run down there.

Anyone able to spot anymore Singstar Vol. 1 (PS3) anywhere on clearance? I briefly saw two on clearance for $41.98 at the Southport Target, but that's a little more than I wanted to pay for it. Also, no Mercs 2 (360) clearance sightings?

I snagged a Mercs 2 for $14.98 over the weekend at the Glendale Target. They probably had around 8 - 10 left. Their clearance section was pretty decimated and I think the only reason Mercs 2 was left was because it was still in the case with the rest of the 360 games. I've seen the Singstar set at either the Castleton or 116th/69 Target, but I forget which one and I'm pretty sure it was still at the $41.98 price. I've also been looking for a $9.98 of Fracture (360) or Too Human and it seems like the stores on the north side still have them both for around $20.

I was visiting the lake house in beautiful Rochester IN last week and at the local Walmart they had on clearance 2000 wii points cards with classic controller sleeve for $15.

i think there are about 10 left

No problem. I actually stopped by there tonight. They had 6 copies of Mercs 2 left for $15, but they had moved them from the case to the clearance endcap. Rest of the endcap was titles like Endwar, Fracture, NCAA Basketball 08 and a couple others, all for $20 to $40 each. They also had a couple of the Singstar packages in with PS3 accessories, but they were still $41.98 each.

Sorry for the late response. They were in with the 360 accessories and were pegghooked and loose (no clamshell).

There wasn't any Mercs 2 at the Greenwood Target either (was looking for it too). Looks like we'll have to take a drive if we want it for cheap.

Got Mercs 2 (360) for $14.98 at Glendale Target as maxfisher mentioned. Four copies left as of Friday afternoon. Also decided to grab FarCry 2 (PS3) at the same price. I usually like getting games for the 360, but that's too nice a price to pass on a good looking game. End War (PS3 - game only) was also $14.98 on that endcap, but there were only 2 copies left. Thanks for the heads up maxfisher.

I wonder if they can even sell those or if they're just out by mistake. Don't they have to activate at the time they scan them? I'm going to be about 20 minutes from that store meeting some people for dinner tonight, so I'm debating whether it's worth leaving an hour early to try to snag some cheap points.

Glad to be of help. That's really weird on End War. When I scanned it last night it came up $29.98. I guess maybe we've found a Target that does drops on a day other than Monday? I might have to stop on my way home to snag a copy at that price.

Glad you found it Steve!! Also, I just went and picked up one of those point cards and it looks like they weren't even touched from the other day. They are still in with the 360 accessories on the bottom shelf. When I got there today they looked like they were pushed back and it looked like they were gone. But they still had a good 9 or so, and it rang up priced at $45. The guy in font of me had 2 gift cards and I always forget to use gift cards, and I had a Best Buy card that was dated 2006 at the bottom that still had $9, so it came up to like $35 and some change haha.

Damn my poor reading skills! I thought your original post said the cards were at Circuit City, not Best Buy. My bad.

I believe thats just a Circuit City issue. I buy them out of the clamshell all the time and haven't had a bad one yet, and just activated the one I bought today from Best Buy and it credited my account.

Its ok, the Best Buy is literally 3 blocks south of Circuit City, on 31. But you were wanting that 40% off, Best Buy doesn't have that. Sorry to get your hopes up man.

Ah, my poor reading skills got screwed up on your big post above. I was skimming your post and didn't notice the switch from Circuit City to Best Buy.

This is nice...some activity--and helpful activity at that--from other Indy CAGs. For a while we only had a few posting. Nice to hear from you guys. I wonder if we have enough here to do a meet up or something? Maybe with the Fort Wayne guys like TMK can be in town? That'd be interesting.

Who knows, I might get a job in Indy. The only reason I'm slightly hesitant about it is because I'd be living near my sister, and I know she would constantly bug me to do stuff for her.

I'd be down haha.

I haven't been an active deal hunter since my move back to Indianapolis but I would definitely be ready for a meetup. I'm a Northside CAG, not the Greenwood area.

my cousin was in talks with ipfw about holding a meet up/game trade there... its their final year there and was told they might be able to get a room in the union hall for free
