Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.

Looks pretty good for a free app!!

Does anyone else play Qrank? It would be great to actually compete against real people rather than Joe Q. Public.

http://appshopper.com/games/qrank

If so, search for LRM, I come up as Muncie. (As in the city in Indiana.)

Also, I know I'm late to the party, but Minigore is great, I'm assuming there are more levels to unlock other than the two survival ones. I find the new levels in Angry Birds to be difficult (which is a good thing.) Also, the Implode update where people are uploading their own levels is truly spectacular.

Wait for a second opinion. Fire Thief thinks everything is great!!

I almost bought a 101 games in one app, that FIRE THIEF said was awesome. I waited 2 days and at that point he said it was terrible.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad he enjoys everything. I wish I was easily amused with crap games, I would spend a lot less on good quality games.
I've had that guy on ignore for months now. Every quote of his reinforces that it was a wise decision.

You, on the other hand, come up with some awesome deals/recommendations.

UGH I'm pissed, I thought it was a great deal and bought that 101 games in 1. Big regret but it was only .99 I guess. You dont get all 101 games right away, you need to earn them by playing the previous ones. All the games are simple too, way too simply and doesnt respond very well
My advice is to get rid of that horribly outdated thing. Yuck.
My advice is for you to be nice...what if I told you to change your creepy looking avatar? How would you feel?

Click on their user name above their avatar and theirs an option to ignore them

just picked up an ipod touch for the first time. looking for some good games to play anyone have a top 10 list? I did pick up plants vs zombies, angry birds and zombie smash - so far so good. any good fps games? thanks.

@ 107proof: I was considering getting raging thunder 2. Wish there was a lite version. I've been really in the mood for a good arcade racing game. So far I've tried the free versions of asphalt 5 and fast and the furious but still unsure. Also the makers of raging thunder 2 are making a game called either deliverace or deliverance (can't remember for sure) which looks pretty good so I may wait for that. Let me know if you end up picking up RT2.

Motocross Challenge, an Excitebike "inspired" game that was originally going to be for the GBA, finally got released as an iPhone game, and got a very good review at touch arcade. Intro price of 99 cents. I'm downloading it now.

http://toucharcade.com/2010/04/26/m...view-an-excitebike-alike-years-in-the-making/

Will post initial thoughts later today.

QUICK comment: seems fun, it's essentially Excitebike with tricks, but the tilt gauge is f-d in my first try of the game. It thinks I'm holding it at an angle when I'm holding it straight and so far I see no option to calibrate. Perhaps it auto-calibrates when you first start the game. I'll experiment more.

Thank you for this, I had no idea you could put people on ignore. This thread has become enjoyable again.

Avoid the FPS. Trust me, they suck.

As for the best apps, man, go in this moment and download Spider: The Secret of Bryce manor; it's a damn masterpiece. In fact, this may be the only iPhone game that I think would be considered to be amazing on any platform.

Also get The Creeps! (Tower Defense with great art and replay value), Hook Champ (great platformer/timing based hybrid with retro visuals), Orbital and Beneath a Steel Sky (point and click retro game with excellent story and music)

Sword & Poker and Space Miner are good.
he might be annoying but the ignore users feature is stupid as hell
I don't know how you could think that. Are you his alt or something? :/

I hadn't thought of ignoring the ol' Thief either, but it is indeed better to have less inane endorsements for games and more real discussion.

was wondering what the battery life is like on everyone's ipod touch. I've got a 3rd generation, and it seems surfing, playing games straight for about 2 hours drains it more than halfway already on a full charge. i just find it weird since it says you can watch videos for six hours. any thoughts?

I second the recommendations for Spider and Sword and Poker. If you're into baseball, I find Baseball Superstars 2010 to be an amazing game.

In other news, despite my philosophy of not buying >$9.99 games on the iPhone, I decided to say screw it and bought Chaos Rings.

I've also got a touch (32gb), and the battery life is horrendous. Playing games uses a lot more of the CPU/GPU than watching moves/playing music. I love the device, but the battery life is simply laughable.
The battery is not one of it's strengths...conversely, the ipads battery lasts an extremely kong time
no that sounds impressive.
tilt to live new update out with 2 new game modes
Tilt to live is officially one of the greatest games available. :applause: I was expecting the additional game modes to be available as in app purchasable content. But NO... they provided it FREE!!! Freakin sweet!! I am number 9 Globally on Gauntlet.. Granted, I am sure I will fall quickly as more and more people download the update.

that's disappointing. i use it to listen to music, but was hoping it'll be my pimary gaming handheld. sucks.

Yeah, my classic 80GB ipod's battery life is GREAT. My 8GB ipod touch...not so much. Even on the days when I just use it for work, i.e. just looking at the calendar and my contacts, the battery is often drained by a 1/4.

Looking forward to my ipad coming Friday and hoping the battery life for it is all it's cracked up to be.

No, I was talking about my iPad...my touch battery blows, last a couple hours at most..hasn't stopped me from loving it and playing a ton of games on it, to the point I pretty much only play apps

Well, with the recent Tilt To Live update and so many other games I have picked up for free or $0.99 I have plenty to keep me busy. Also, with all the great deals recently, its hard for me to justify spending $2.99 on a game. I will hold out for more reviews to come in and possibly a sale price. Its a new game so most new games drop their price fairly quickly to gain more visibility and popularity.

Getting the $1200 13 inch MacBook Pro. 16Gb iPad.

I get $100 off the Mac with my school discount...

No, get this. I don't have money like THAT but there is this credit card you can sign up for in the Apple store. It gives you 12 months to pay whatever you want off. You pay however much you want per month. It's 0 interest if you do it in that first year! So I did the math. I pay only $150 a month and I can have both of these beasts paid off in exactly a year! This also includes iWork and a case for the iPad! This is just awesome!!! I make a little over $800 a month so 150 is nothing... That and my $30 phone bill are all I will have to pay every month!!! I plan to buy a digital camera next week and then a PS3 in 3 weeks... Then in 5 weeks I will probably be going for this deal!!! Yes!!!

Jailbreak, Voice Onrush was great for free. A real nice game. Controls need work and the ending gives no closure at all, but still it is a dang good game.

Wow, I am sure I am older than most in this forum. But young man, This is no special deal, this is a standard Zero interest card that is available everyday of the year. The kicker is, if by chance you don't pay it off in the zero interest time limit. on the 366th day. All the interest that had been building up on that card, will now be owed by you. You could end up paying Hundreds more than you imagined. So I understand you are young and it is a good way to build up credit. Just be careful. My advice to you is, Don't buy more than you can afford, you must have self control. If you do decide to go this route, make your initial purchases and call the # on the back of the card and have the company put your account in a "payment only" state. Then Cut the card up. This way you will not be allowed to purchase any more items and you wont be tempted to put any more items on the card. The more you charge, the less likely you will pay it off in time. That is what they are hoping for. Once you pay it off, call the company and CLOSE the account.

Credit cards are convenient but can get out of hand quickly, especially when your young. Don't screw up your credit when your young, it will haunt you the rest of your life. Use control and be sure you pay it off before your year is up.

Good luck.

Well, my parents will also help me to make sure I don't screw up like that. But making over $800 a month... and all I have to pay is $180 a month... It's full proof. It can't go wrong. Some months I will even pay more to get it paid off faster. =]

If your only expense is $30, then I would put at least $500 a month toward it to get it paid off as soon as possible. or, just save that money for 3 months and buy it outright without having to get a credit card.

Listen to this man. Also, depending on your credit and self control you may not want to close the account, but that's a different issue.

On topic, I also picked up Motocross Challenge and it's been pretty fun. Solid, updated, Excitebike action.
