Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

Can't wait for Catherine. I wonder if the (((backlash))) will heighten as we get closer to release. There's already some reactionary shitpost up on Polygon about the trailer.

Are you referring to the prices on Figmas? because as far as looks go 2014 is one of the best ones! When it starts to go downhill is 12,11,10.

Also 17 has this really cute figure which is the one I decided to pre-order since the sponsored one was kind of plain.

So ebay is doing $15 of $75 order and I was considering either getting Idolm@ster Stella Stage or psn and getting it online. Cheapest way is $75 for the hk version and the jp version is $87. 10000 yen psn card is a little over $100 but I can get the game faster and have some left over for dlc. Ugghh cant make up my mind.

"A Merry Christmas Update with Presents!

Hello everyone,

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! We’re sorry it took so long to come back with an update. We originally planned to announce one last November, but the account transfers took time, causing a delay.

What does that mean?

Both Kickstarter and BackerKit accounts are now under ixtl, the parent company of Muv-Luv series. If you're wondering why this happened, it's simply because we have taken over the responsibility of rewards fulfillment and shipping, and the remaining Kickstarter promises. We need to know all backer details to make sure all the physical rewards are delivered to your doorstep without any problems.

What happened to the team?

As mentioned in the previous update, Degica has completed their part of the Kickstarter project and is leaving the team. We really thank them for all the work they have done over the years. We couldn't have made it this far without them.

"The Muv-Luv Team" is now composed of members from ixtl and the current Muv-Luv English localization team. Rest assured we're stronger than ever, and working at a faster pace with zero delays in communication. We're pretty excited for future projects to come.

Will ixtl send the rewards anytime soon?

There are only three remaining physical items at hand: the CODEX, Collector's box, and PS Vita. The CODEX was delayed due to formatting issues required by the printers, while the Collector's box and PS Vita requires the ROMs for both Muv-Luv titles to be gold master status before we mass-produce them. We are working closely with the translation team to fix the typos and bugs players are reporting.

Once these issues are resolved, we'll be sending more email reminders and updates as we approach the shipping day slated early next year. We have also recently finished printing the decals, and are currently in Tokyo Otaku Mode's warehouse. Feel free to take a closer look at the designs:

They better bring the 3 pack special edition over to the states. Sure sure I could always dig out my vita copy along with my Playstation TV but that is not the point. It would be nice to have all three games on one system. Next year is looking to be a solid year between these games, the P5 anime, and Catherine FB.

So we're supposed to believe that they are going through the trouble of making the game over for the PS4, but *not* selling it everyone who wants it? I call shenanigans!

Smells of the CoD 4 Modern Warfare Remastered situation.

 
It really hurt my soul seeing the P3 cast whored out for a dancing game, they look so out of place  :whistle2:​

Yeah the P4 cast were already quirky enough that a dancing game did not seem out of place. P5... maybe but P3, not a shot in hell. Whatever I'll still buy it because they know their audience. Seems odd they would go through all the trouble with P4:D not to release it later but I guess that is a way to ensure people will spend the most amount of money on the game.

Junpei definitely would dance. Akihiko, maybe. Fuuka (my girl) would if it would make her friends happy. Mitsuru and Shinjiro, not a chance. Yukari would probably ask to get paid. MC, more likely to stand in a corner and scoff at those dancing.

BTW: how awkward is Makoto (P5) going to be dancing? She is severely lacking in the "social skills."

I don't see what the big deal is. I respect transexuals, as I do all races, religions and genders. I don't use the word "trap" same as I don't use any other slur. Yet I don't see how a straight dude reacting with shock after finding a girl he drunkenly fucked has a dick is a problem. I'm pretty sure you would get the same reaction out of me.
