The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

wtf... NISA has gone to shit. Anyone gotten their replacment copies in for Danganronpa? I did.. the 'proper packaging' i got was the exact same shitty paper thin cardboard foldover... thrown in a friggin manilla envelope! I dont think it even really had any padding in it. It was kinda like the padded envelopes amazon uses for books and sometimes regular games but without the padding.

Naturally this copy was smashed too, but not nearly as bad as the first. I'm not sure what to do now. I guess i can call them again but not sure where to go from here since the lady claimed it would be packaged properly and that all future orders would be packaged well. Im honestly considering canceling my preorders with them and saying screw it. I know i have witch and the 100 knights CE preordered and 2 copies of demons gaze CE at least. THis just really sucks since NISA used to always package and ship their stuff well. Ive been buying stuff from them for years and really would hate to just write them off. But if they cant ship me their expensive collectors editions without them getting smashed then im not sure what else to do

did you guys who got replacments get them in better packaging? Or were they all crap like this? *sigh* this really sucks since theres nowhere else to get their collectors editions usually.
My replacement was shipped in a box from CA. Though I live like 10min from their warehouse so they may have just saved on shipping. The replacement itself was wrapped in pink bubblewrap and also had pink bubblewrap stuffed inside to prevent the box from crushing as well.

sounds like their old shipping methods.. WTF. the lady i talked to was very apologetic and assured me that this one would be packaged and sent right. I live in CA too. Norcal to be exact. Very disapointed that the bitch basically lied to me.

Missed out on the Go Hastings glitch but I will wait till next year to grab the new Atelier game. Partially to save money, partially because I have the other four games + the DS game sitting in my backlog, lol.

Now to decide what JRPG to play next or just wait till The Witch and the Hundred Knights gets released.

Yeah, my early replacements where sent from Texas before they got their act together and I also got one shipped in the small box within the bubble envelope. I think this was when they first spoke to the warehouse, and this was their response. Obviously this was just as crap as the first shipping method, so items are still being damaged.

I contacted them directly by phone after this, and then I got my replacement sleeve direct from CA in a proper box. Due to their "ticket" system on their website, and their lack of proper updates to it, I got another replacement sleeve and a full LE set for exchange just last week, as they overlap themselves, as they never make proper updates to each persons account.

Both items where shipped direct from Texas, and both came in their own BIG box with tons of packaging. The full LE replacement even came with a prepaid shipping label to return my damaged set. So I can say first hand, that TX is shipping properly, but I can't speak for everyone. I would contact them again, as there is no harm in having them ship another replacement(if they still have any), as it's their "dime" and "time".

At least he didn't call her a bitch; he's just describing her as one to us. Also, the video games are serious business thing is making a complete mockery of the point. Money is being spent, time is being spent, and a business is being run very poorly compared to how it usually is. I don't care if it's sealed containers of dirt and table crumbs, this shit gets frustrating.

The mockery is the idea that the woman he talked to has some supervisory power or is actually packaging the item. Maybe she shouldn't have made an assurance that she couldn't back up, but we need to show some civility if we're ever going to shake the misperception that people who enjoy video games are just a bunch of knuckledraggers.

Actually, all you can say is Texas shipped properly to you. I finally received my replacement on Saturday that had shipped out on Wednesday from Texas and it was improperly packaged. Just the same old box with a flimsy bubble sleeve over it. It actually was more crushed than the first time. They are going to send me another replacement and I have been assured it will be properly packaged in a different kind of box, but I'll just have to wait and see. While I think it's inappropriate to call anyone a name over this, the whole situation has been handled pretty poorly and it makes me question whether I will continue to support NIS LE/CE releases.

As long as he was civil on the phone, then he can complain about it elsewhere however he chooses, eh? And no, she should not have made a claim that she can not back up. That is horrible CS. I just don't think one should criticize someone else's point with a hollow mockery that ignores any strand of validity the original point may have had. Throwing shit on shit just makes a larger pile lol.

Flowery phrases aside, if someone is upset about poor service that's completely understandable. Jumping on CAG and throwing a temper tantrun like he regularly does just gets tiresome.

And no, I was not criticizing his point. Or yours. Just the delivery.

Yeah, that's totally fair! I just hate that phrase is really the main reason I responded to you in the first place; it's just so dismissive.

I'm still on the fence about pre-ordering JoJo's Bizarre Adventure on Amazon. Unless we get the same or more bonuses like the EurAsian version AND a CONCRETE release date, I'm going to wait. I sooo want to play as Baoh, especially since I recently got the entire series in print.

Hey everybody. I've been lurking this thread for a few months and finally made an account last week. Wanted to thank you guys since I got Atelier Ayesha (used from Gamefly) and Atelier Escha & Logy (pre-order from goHastings) for $20 each because of this thread.

I went to go look for Deadly Premonition Director's Cut (PS3) at Walmart and saw that it was either $25 or $30 (can't remember). It seemed like a bit much since I'm not sure I even want it. They had three copies when I checked, so if I changed my mind they should still have one. Anybody able to recommend it or describe the gameplay? I don't want to spend that much on something I might not like.

Also, I don't know what game that quote is teasing, but I like it.

Busty Ninjas and a Game where you strip vampires in Akihabara in order to defeat them.

Answered the survey. I think most of the visual novels I've played have been on a PC, so I should probably broaden my horizons.

Saw this on NeoGAF - Aksys has a survey for visual novels. I went with handhelds/consoles as my platform choices as I like to collect retail games and I won't get that with mobile/pc.

http://aksysgames.com/survey/index.php/636551/lang-en

More Visual Novels please. :D

Already done the survey, might as well port them over anyways with what they can, but its just a hypothetical situation, lol.

i voted for console ps3, lol

most of the visual novels are only ever release /localize on portables like ps vita in the west.

Hmm..Any good V PS Vita deals out right now? Preferably $120 or under post shipping unless it's a bundle. Suddenly realized I had a bunch of games I wanted to play on it such as :

Ys: Memories of Celceta

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (When out)

Demon Gaze (When out)

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends (When out)

FF X-X2 (When out)

Dragons Crown? Maybe..

Soul Sacrifice

Samurai Warriors 4

Toukiden Extreme (When out)

Mind Zero (When out)

God Eater 2

Amongst other games whose name I can't remember right off the bad. Tons of unreleased games so no rush for me. So my 3ds XL to fund my PSV gaming needs and cause the darn thing was region locked. Also taking some more recommendations to add to my list as I prepare to import games due to the 2-4 week arrival time of Japanese imports

Was going to add Monster Monpiece into that list but I'll have to rethink that because it doesn't look like something I'll ever want to be seen play. 0_0

Most visual novels are available for pc and we rarely get localizations. I hope people buy up the Blazblue one and show them that we really want visual novels, also that Hakuouki game for the ladies and everyone else (I have a pre-order for the PS3 version but unsure if keeping for now).

And 25 is uncommon for them new (I would know I have been tracking ayesha totori meruru and rorona since october) and I wouldn't bother with used as you get descrips like case has been chewed on/disc only. Who the hell is gonna pay for disc only when the difference between new and used is 7 at best?
Just to point out, while dips to the $20-$25 range are pretty good for the Atelier's, back around when Ayesha came out somebody (don't recall who in particular, maybe Play-asia?) was selling the first trilogy @ $13 a pop. New and everything. I was kinda peeved, as I waited around and figured $20 was as cheap as they'd go, and had a package with them shipping to me just when that deal hit. I kinda think NISA might've printed more copies to cash in on the interest peak at the time, so it's possible some more deals could come up.

yep that sounds about right but who knows if that will happen with these games since the rpg market isn't as strong as it was back then. I do remember talk of that happening along with other games that got infamous reprints (smt nocturne, dds 1 and 2 ect) along with stores closing and junk due to gamestops purchasing of other stores and downsizing.

Sometimes its just stores clearing their overstock though.  after all tales of graces and abyss were getting shoved for 20$ alot and even the xillia ce dropped to 40 for a while, go hastings was selling vesperia at 10 new as well.

I remember reading about the Blazblue one earlier. I was going to hold off on getting it since I've yet to play either of the fighting games (despite owning them). Then I read that it's a prequel, so I might get it close to release if I have some money.

You mean X-Blaze: Code Embryo, amirite! :3

My Danganronpa LE shipped late because I had to split an order. It shipped from Texas and was that cardboard thing shoved in a bubble mailer.

The condition is fine for mine though, it isn't damaged.

Ps vita tv needs to come to America already, I havent buy a vita yet because I wanted to play the games on my tv and have plenty of nintendo for on the go.
