The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!
This is a very messy port of the PS2 version.
I agree with that. My sister has the PSP version and I tried to play it and it was just slow and choppy. The controls also had a bit of delay for response times, from what I can recall. I think I only tried to play it for about 10 minutes and just gave it up.
If this box is as big as it seems, it won't fit into a bubble mailer.
Feel free to order from Amazon then.

A) It's not that big, and B) there are bubble mailers bigger than size 0.

I ordered it in store from Gamestop, so it's irrelevant. Also, it depends on your Amazon distribution center. I've never had a big box mailed to me in a bubble mailer from Amazon. Ever. The biggest item I ever had shipped in a bubble mailer was my The Last Story I ordered from the UK. That was from HMV.

I figure this box will at least be twice as big.

Yeah, you guys are acting like it'll be a 500 page encyclopedia (width). It'll be two 3DS cases stacked together roughly speaking. They are MINI posters and art books for a reason.
This is true me as well. Amazon ships all of the smaller CEs (like the Xseed stuff) in bubble mailers, or those equally bad cardboard wraps. The only time they use boxes is if the CE is large and doesn't fit in a bubble mailer. Gamestop ships hard cased games in bubble mailers but CE's in boxes, which is how it should be.

I haven't had a shipping issues with GS in ages but with Amazon nearly every CE and artbook I've received over the last 1-2 has been damaged.
I've always gotten CEs or larger than normal games in boxes from Amazon. I don't understand why everyone else gets bubble mailers.

It's just the distribution centers. It's up to them I guess. The same thing happened with the Zelda HH books. Some people had them packed in small secure boxes. Some people had theirs slide around with no protection.

I would prefer figmas too for game CE. (Saber Bride figma is awesome, so is WRS figma).

non scaled prize figure like this I guess is better than nothing, but to me not really display worthy.

I would imagine it would come down to how the IC guys set up the system for their facility. I know I can make things go into boxes by throwing a protection flag on it. (I work for a Staples Warehouse as IC.) Sadly, we don't have any video games at my facility.

I figured this'll be the best place to ask :p Does anyone know if Gamestop will be getting the limited edition of Muramasa: Rebirth? Or is it Amazon exclusive?

I swear I remember seeing it on the website before, and Aksys said that pre-order bonuses were for Amazon AND Gamestop... My guess is that maybe they already cut off pre-orders for it.

Yeah I'm referring to this edition (looks pretty sweet).

I prefer pre ordering from Gamestop over Amazon, so I was just curious if anyone knows anything about it.

Since the pouch and face cover would effectively render the awesome Vault case for my Vita obsolete, I have to seriously consider whether this is worth the extra $20. :whistle2:k

Actually, on the Aksysgames.com forums, Belarius (who is an Aksys employee) confirmed Gamestop will be carrying the Limited Edition but that they just haven't listed it yet.

Looks like people have already asked and they got ignored lol.
I'm thinking pre order from Amazon and just cancel it if Gamestop gets it. Looks like they recently updated the Amazon description with fancy pictures as well.

edit: Bojay with an epic ninja haha. Thanks.

Finally released more info on SMT IV

^*ahem*

YESYESYESYESYESTAKEMYMONEYNOOOOOOW

Also, it appears that Gamestop, Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy are all listed under that announcement, so you definitely have retailer options. :D Personally, I'm hoping Newegg has a $10 off preorder promo like they've done for other games in the past to make the $50 MSRP less painful on my wallet.
Could you play SMTIV without having played the other ones?
I think so. I've never played a straight SMT title before (only Persona), but I'm not letting that stop me.
So if you preorder now, you get this set or is it not up for pre-order yet?
This is for all first-run editions, so yes, you'll get this set if you preorder now, assuming where you preorder has Shin Megami Tensei IV listed.
So if you preorder now, you get this set or is it not up for pre-order yet?
All first print runs for SMT IV will be this edition. I got my preorder in a couple of days ago along with Xillia 2 CE and Deadly Premonition (no CE, but that's fine).

Hopefully the guide will be on par with the Demon's Souls CE one.

So going to buy that SMTIV love that series! :)

as for August......Pikmin 3 , Tales of xillia and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team all within the span of two weeks....OOOOUUUUCCCCHHH!!!! :(
Dream Team looks pretty sweet.

Now Nintendo just needs to bring over Mother 1 and 3 and we'll be set.
I would buy Mother 3 alone for $60.

picked up a copy of Soul Hackers for a friend. The box (first print le version) is actually sealed which is surprising. The only thing is the packaging of the plastic seems a bit cheap as it seems there is too much plastic.

Has any other first print le versions been sealed? Code of Princess wasn't. Not sure about Etrian Odssey IV (planing to order from Amazon or gs.com)

Etrian IV was sealed.

Definitely.

1 and 2 are in the same universe with the MMO set in between them.

3 was a different universe, but it had a character highly suggested to be from Pt. 2. So why was he in Nocturne's universe?

*Double tagging it.
For the ultimate sin of kicking God's ass at the end of Pt. 2. XD It's crack. His punishment was to be present for the cycle of death and rebirth of other universes and be powerless to interfere. Essentially getting to experience Judgment Day on repeat basically.

For anyone else who has played it, have you run into a a couple of shoddy localization errors in soul hackers? When I try to use a healing station and I don't have enough mag, I get a message saying MAG followed by a bunch of japanese characters. And when I was talking to a demon, one of the lines of text was completely outside of the text box. I thought Atlus was better than this.

Edit: Also, I'm in Algon NS with the MC and my demons randomly seem to be getting poisoned, but nowhere on the status screens does it say they are actually afflicted with poison, but they keep dying when i'm walking around. Is this the game or is it just me? Also what the hell? Is my magnetite supposed to disappear with each step I take?

good to know EOIV was sealed. has anyone seen it in a store aside from GS? A few GS I went to have a lone display (opened) copy.

Also the Code of Princess I got from Newegg was NOT sealed in plastic, just had a circle tape on the box. I believe it was also published by Atlus

Not really answering your question but my GS had 2 sealed copies when i bought mine last week. But this is a store with a few rpg fans as workers so they probably are the exception.

did you get a mini artbook and cd? yours was probably just the gamecase and not the first print box

Nope, it had both of those and the box sealed. I wouldn't have gotten it otherwise. Like I said, that location is good to jrpg fans.

I think it's worth noting that both of the atlus 3ds boxed games I have had the game case sealed with shrinkwrap, not the y-fold.

If they made Mother 1-3 in HD or released them as a 3DS collection do you know the amount of fucking money they could make. I don't see how they haven't done this yet?

It's like they are fucking stupid . I too would pay for Mother 3 whatever Nintendo wanted to charge.

Not that I've noticed yet, but I'll keep an eye out for them.

From the sounds of it, you're out of MAG, so the demons are taking damage. I think someone in the game says MAG allows the demons corporeal form or something like that. They're using it up as they walk with you. It's annoying. :(

If I'm low, I don't keep a full party with me in a dungeon, but if I know a boss is right behind a door, I'll pop everyone out for that.

Don't forget to account for demon personalities initially. You don't want them disobeying you during key fights. The game won't teach you about them until the 2nd vision quest, so just read the manual for a refresher every now and then. And I mean the digital 3ds menu manual, cause it seems to be the norm now for 4 page physical manuals these days, if any at all. >>

I'm with you there. A collection of these games would be a wet dream within a wet dream for some ppl out there.

They're leaving money on the table. When Nintendo goes bankrupt and EA buys the IP they'll put it out on every platform and turn it into an annualized series. We'll have Earthbound Dead Space. You think that pig kid is bad? Wait until he turns into a xenomorph. Then if course there will be xenomorph Blade.
