The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

that was a huge issue plus characters, controls, enemies, etc I believe it only sold about 40,000 at launch because it was so bad, they said they would fix the issues, but haven't heard if they ever fixed the japan version, I believe the release date for us got pushed back because of this so hopefully it means we get a fix version, but it also means what problems are still their means that they wont patch for us either, since the single player campaign is so short, not sure if its even worth it, their is a reason its 30$ new, meant mostly for online matches
Including downloads, Freedom Wars has sold over 300K copies in Japan. So from a sales standpoint, it was actually a big success for the Vita. However there have been a lot of complaints about difficulty balance in the game. There have been patches to try to improve the game, but I haven't heard about how successful they are.

Why you disappointed in the new Smash. It looks alright seeing the Treehouse footage today. Course i'm not a big fanboy who cries over characters missing or such. I just want to play with friends really.

Also Planetarian looks aight...need to get it sometime.
I made the big mistake of getting too much into the hype for the game and for the chance that certain characters could be playable, and while I got a few, I also have to deal with the fact that I lost my main character.

I don't cry over it of course, and I love Japanese games so I don't mind most of the choices, but it still really hurts. In the end, Smash 4 is probably best being another game in the backlog and I'm sure my friends won't ask me to play it for a while. I'll just try out some of the older fighting games I have in the meantime...if I feel like trying them LOL.

The news of Clannad being translated and of Elminage Gothic could not have come at a better time IMHO.

Really?

There's people who were wondering when people get theirs as they haven't received shipping notices or what to know when to expect it. Hence why I posted it.

Nice try jerk.

I'm glad someone else beat me to the Elminage Gothic screenshots and the news - thank you Asmith906!

I also *JUST* found out that Planetarian is live on Steam. It is 25% off for the first week and is $7.49 right now.

As if the news wasn't just getting better and better for Japanese games and visual novels. :D/ :D/

Which is just what I needed compared to the Smash news that felt like a crowbar to the nuts.

EDIT: Elminage Gothic is only $7.99 as another preorder bonus (only until the 18th), but so far I didn't see or hear much about the game other than information from NeoGAF.
Oh man that's awesome didn't realize there was a discount on Elminage. I got $1.99 from selling cards so it's only $6 for me. Also is the Planetarian game any good? Never heard of it before.

Elminage Preorder bonuses

The Elminage Gothic pre-purchase bonus content contains the following items:

BESTIARUM VOCABULUM - 118 page digital artbook displaying all the monsters & creatures from the game including monster stats

Official Soundtrack - Over 60 minutes of atmospheric game music

Thank you again! I looked right at the Steam page when I bought Elminage and didn't scroll down to see that a soundtrack came with it, oops.

Planetarian is a visual novel that is quite short but seems to be very well liked. It's a sadder tale like many of Key's other works (Kanon/Clannad/Angel Beats) and it seems, based on what I'm reading, like it still has that "reflection" effect where a serious event occurs and Key tries to get the reader to humanly and emotionally look back at what just transpired.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers here but still, I'm sure someone else here can help out more than I can.

Is it the same size in comparison to the Kingdom Hearts CE (if you happen to have it) ?
I don't have the kingdom hearts ce so can't compare sorry

If the kingdom hearts ce is like the FFX ce book thing (I think I remember reading here they were the same format?) then it's nowhere near the same size.

Holy shit, the Neptunia Re:Birth 1 Limited Edition is back in stock on Amazon, I just got one!

3 left in stock as of this posting.

I'm glad you guys were able to grab a copy

The Vita case is pretty nice, I gave the Neptunia rubber strap to my sister to use though.

Funny how all of a sudden new sellers have a listing for $350...$50 less than the previous one there.
I'm not even sure how many were available when it went back up for sale, all that I noticed when I ordered mine was there was 3 left.

No, it is not like that at all. The kingdom hearts ce is a small rectangular box... Akin to the size of the zelda skyward sword le bundle.

Lol..hopefully it pops in again for people who really want and own it instead of just planning to make a quick buck.

Still waiting on mine to show preparing to ship but i hope it does soon and arrives safe!

So... despite being a Platinum member for the past 4 years, I got no Smash Code. Anyone got extras? <3
I am guessing you don't have it set so that you get emails from club nintendo (go into notifications and then add yourself to their email list) if you had that on you should have gotten your codes as anyone that had that on and was a plat member this year (as in got the plat rewards already this year not currently a plat member) and had that on was supposed to get the codes.

You were absolutely right. I just enabled it. I wonder if they'll send me codes now.

Hey guys are there any Japan only ps3 games I should be on the look out for? I just got in EX Troopers and I'm going to order Gundam Breaker
Was it you that posted EX Troopers in the September Pick Ups thread? I hadn't heard of the game before now.

It looks kinda fun... but I don't know if I could appreciate it if it's all in Japanese.

yeah that was me. It's supposedly a spinoff of lost planet.
I read that. I'm reluctant about buying JP games that don't have English subtitles or aren't fighting games because I feel like I wouldn't be able to get the full experience of the game without knowing the language.

Can someone post the link for the Hyperdimension Neptunia LE that came back in stock at a cheaper price? And what was the price for it? I'm going to stalk that page until I get it now.
