The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

Damn, how many of these did Amazon get, anyway? I finally jumped when it hit $18.12 a few days ago because it got its own thread here and (from what I'm told, didn't bother to go and look myself) a thread on Slickdeals as well. I figured there was no way it would stick around past that.

I mean, hell, I'm not going to bother to quibble over 23 cents, but I hope it doesn't drop too much more or I'm going to be pissed that I didn't wait longer.

It might be like "The Last Rebellion" and drop to $15.50 then shoot back up.

Yeah, I'm just shocked they still have the art books at this point. I expected the game itself would probably drop further, but jumped when I did to make sure that I still got the book. Guess I didn't need to worry about it after all.

You? I preordered in full figuring it would only increase as I knew I wouldnt play it for a year or so...

Still sealed with artbook and no chance I am playing it anytime soon.

The $14.68 for Trauma Team is a marketplace vendor, fulfilled by Amazon.

You are a dope if you at all want TT but don't get it for that price. Great, great game.

GS put Rune Factory 3 back up to $30 new. When it drops to $20, ALL Y'ALL need to pounce on that. An addictive, polished, charming game from top to bottom. It's my first RF but it is utterly fantastic.

If you missed this, it's worth checking the clearance section at your local Target. I picked it up at a store here for $5.04 this week. I still need to return the $9.98 copy that I picked up a few weeks ago -- the store here had sold out of it at that point, but then this week about six more copies appeared on the clearance rack at the lower price.

Hrm . . . I have the first Rune Factory for the DS, and Rune Factory: Frontier for the Wii. Picked them both up at the same time at an FYE that was closing last year. Honestly, I got pretty bored with them pretty quickly. Maybe it's gotten better with successive versions?

It's possible RF3 has gotten better. It sounds a damn sight more polished and with better combat, but, the root of the game is still the farm grinding and interacting with/questing for the townsfolk unless you really just go full bore DUNGEON CRAWL. If the gametype holds nothing for you, I do not know if it would be an effective game changer, but, hell, I didn't think I could like RF3 but then I tried it and 40+ hours later I'm still loving it.

Ahahaha. According to the "Power Saver Sale" thread, Rune Factory 3 will be $19.99 in the sale . . .

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290739

So basically, they raised the price so that they could put it "on sale" for the same price they were charging for it before. Stay awesome, GameStop!

Anyone knows if I order ar tonelico qoga from gamestop, will I receive the special edition or the regular one? Thanks.

Yeah, I think I'm going to pick up Ar Tonelico today. Like Hyperdimension Neptunia...only one store within several stores near me, got one. It's weird, before like Atelier Rorona or Deathsmiles, these stores used to get at least 2-3 copies in but now many stores are not getting a copy and Amazon, it's out of stock and sold expensively by a few third party. I would have bought it immediately but with all the Y's Platinum Editions going down in price, then the Aksys Games sale recently and then finding Radiata Historia, needed to wait a while before purchasing another game.

Went to Gamestop and today is their Powersave sale and I think this is the cheapest sale I have ever seen for 999!

Picked up:

9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors - Aksys - for $24.99
Ninja Gaiden 2 - Tecmo - $19.99
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - Sega - $14.99
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom - Bandai - $14.99
Enslaved - -Namco - $14.99

NOTE: Mine were not gutted, with the exception of Majin which was.

and I picked up Ar Tonelico as I think, like Neptunia, will be hard to find.

It is a deal, just a pretty old one. It's been $40 for a few months now, which is cheaper than what it goes for without the LE content at some stores.

It's been $40 at GameStop, yeah, but the LE is selling for more on eBay and other sites... If GS is really running OOS for it, definitely pick it up. It's pretty hard to find otherwise.
9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors just dropped to $24.99 at Amazon
Thanks. You just saved me a trip to gamestop.
lol 999 is aksys, not xseed

you funny
Thanks for the correction...hehe...I was typing quick, so people could jump on the deal but it seems that Amazon has price matched. Hope those of you who waited, jumped on this deal. That's pretty good at $24.99.
Nice price. Got it for $15 in december with a free copy of Yggdra Union.
I remember seeing that somewhere but cant recall. where did you buy it from?
Hm... I know this is supposed to be better than the DS version, but is it enough better to justify the double-dip if you already own that one?
I think you have it backwards. I thought it's supposed to be better on DS.

To my understanding, anyway, when they ported it to the PSP they expanded it, rebalanced it, and improved the graphics. So it sounds to me like the PSP version should be better, anyway. The question is whether it is enough better to be worth buying again.

^^^
THis. Im pretty sure the few reviews that mentioned it in comparison to the DS version said it was an improvement. I bought this ages ago with the free Yggdral union DLC voucher ... but never opened or played it =P

No idea then. I have both, but the psp one its sealed, else I'd find or myself =P

Knights in Nightmare:

I started playing the DS version when it came out, played 2-3 battles and stopped playing, never played it again. While I learned the basic gameplay, I didn't really understand the concept of it.

I brought the PSP version in Dec. Opened it and played non stop for a week. Got a lot deeper into it, understood the concepts much better - got half dozen character, learned to break objects to collect items, learned how to change characters during battles, did some weapon fusion and combining. Overall, I enjoyed it much better than the DS version.

I personally like the PSP version better because playing the wisp with the stylus on the tiny screen was tougher. However, setting up battles in the PSP is time consuming since you must scroll through the entire battle field of characters/enemies/objects to get to the thing you want to change.

$15 for KiN and UY is a steal, IMHO.
knights dropped down again, to 13.75
Ehhh i though 15 was pretty good. its better than being that person who waits for an even lower price drop, just for it to go back up and miss the chance....

I picked up a new copy of TU at BestBuy this week for $40 only because I hadn't seen it anywhere else figured I'd grab while I was picking up my $20 copy of Rock Band 3.

Not sure why this thread exists as a deals thread when new deals for specific games can and should be posted on their own in the forum, seems like a price catalogue more than anything else.

The three deals i checked out were all dead btw.(Disgaea 3, Little King's Story, Muramasa) Im guessing the op needs some sifting through.
Looks like there's one used copy of Trinity Universe in stock at gohastings.com:

http://www.gohastings.com/catalog/p...&departmentName=GAME&productVariantId=8564481

With coupon code WGF it becomes $38.82 shipped (without tax).

They should be reprinting this game someday, but just in case you're desperate for it and can't find it at your local Gamestop ($40 gutted and I'm guessing somewhere between $33 and $40 used since the website says $33 for used is an "online price only") or Bestbuy (According to this thread (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8351878) it was $20 new somewhere recently).
FWIW: A reprint for TU *may* have just happened. I was at my local GameStop yesterday morning to grab some B2G1 stuff and noticed they had TU in stock new. I asked about it and the manager told me that they had just gotten a shipment of several copies of it.

a few of my local Gamestops have new copies of TU. I actually picked up SEALED copies of Ar Tonelico Qoga, Hyperdimension Neptunia and a gutted copy of Atelier Rorona. It was a pretty good haul.

I've seen this as well. Smells of a reprint.
I've seen this as well. Smells of a reprint.
I saw a copy of it at my local store about three weeks ago. Is there a way to determine if it's a reprint or first version? I've been wanting to get this title but both this and "Last Rebellion" were low in my priority and only purchased LR when Amazon started decreasing its price. I was hoping the same for TU but never happened.
original post can't be edited, as far as I am aware, so it's pretty much a topic where you can post the company deals.
FYI Cheapy just last week implemented the ability to make the first post wiki-fied where anyone can edit it. I think if the OP were to wikify the post with the tool anyone could update it with new finds.
