The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games. There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

Is there a reason that companies like NISA don't make their games available for digital download? I mean, they could be making money past the point that their limited runs sell out.

GameFly is very YMMV on any special editions. Some people got the bonus DVD with BlazBlue when you kept it.

Hey as long as it doesn't lose them money, they should be releasing those if only for the goodwill it will bring them with their fans. But then again, I don't feel like NoA particularly cares about us fans this gen.

I don't really recognize half the games ya'll are talking about, but it'd be nice to see them on shelves, if only to play something different.

Nintendo should consider releasing some: Professor Layton has done wonders for them. So strange can = $$$.

And how many international corporations do you run? Making a profit, garnering good will with the fan base, and eliminating those petitions that have gotten quite a bit of attention among gaming media outlets could only be good for NOA.

Considering they have a pretty barren release schedule between now and the release of the WiiU anyway I can't see a good reason not to release them unless they're waiting to polish them and release them as WiiU titles which would be a major draw for the system at release I think.

The prices have dropped on three Aksys games on PSN - Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, Gladiator Begins, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus are now $9.99 each.
 
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume is $10 on Amazon. I am not sure if that is new or old. CAG is not working correctly for me at the moment.

hmm seem to be about 12-17 bucks on amazon and stuff to me. Tnx @slowdive for the valkyrie profile info though. I'l get a backup copy

I was just wondering if you were a troll or the just a really obessive compulsive hoarder with a japan fetish? Why would you need a back-up copy of this game? Have you even played the copy that isn't a back-up?

And i'm starting to wonder if some people are trying to troll me. Not really sure why your being such an ass. Why would i need one? Because im a collector. I like to keep one sealed and one to open and play if need be. I also tend to like RPGs a lot, and Japan is the only place that makes 'traditional' RPG's anymore. This thread is for Japanese Niche games isn't it? Not sure what your doing bitching about people having a Japanese 'fetish' in a thread geared towards Japanese games o_O

yes, because having a good collection spanning back to the NES games is just stupid. Why play a classic like Suikoden, when i could just be rocking the biggest generic FPS then trade it in immediately. Who would want to be able to play great games from all the eras when I could just blow 60 bucks on a new game, play it real quick, then sell it off. That way i have nothing but the latest madden or some dumb crap at all times. *Rolls eyes*

I passed on pre-ordering that when it was in my gold box. Thought 40 bucks was too much. Is the pre-order bonus soundtrack actually a pre-order bonus? Or just something that all the first batch or so will have packed in regardless of pre-order or not? If it is really just a pre-order bonus i guess i may have to get it

I don't understand the need to have back-up's of games you've never played. What need can you foresee of replaying this game if you aren't even sure you'll like it? And realistically is there even any time to replay all of your back-up copies down the road when so many new games get release every year, which you presumably buy back-up copies of as well? It's a question many Cag's have to ask themselves about their backlogs.

No offense meant, I just thought your posts were odd, and wasn't sure if you were actually serious with some of them. I'd like to see a picture of your collection. Have you posted any on here yet?

That was worded badly. if need be refers to a game i can get a really good deal on, or one thats part of a series i like, or just one that i think may be rare down the road. If i can, or if I feel like it, would have probably been a better choice of words. I will probably get to most of my games eventually but i have such a massive backlog, and i like replaying older classic games so much that it will take quite a long time. Im getting some custom shelves built to store my stuff, as its getting ridiculous right now. I'll probably finally take a catalog of what i have at that point. You speak of a backlog like its a bad thing.. to me thats not a backlog. Thats a collection. I just counted Just the Xbox 360 games alone that i have sitting in the bedroom on the console tower that i havent opened/played yet and there are 118. Thats Just 360 games, and not counting the ones i have in boxes downstairs, or packages i havent opened yet.

I'm not sure how you didn't mean offense when you called me either a troll or a hoarder with a Japanese fetish o_O But whatever. I'm just not sure why people need to talk trash to others with different tastes. I dont talk shit about people that trade their games in right after beating them. I enjoy collecting these things almost as much as i enjoy playing them, and like that i can go and play great games from different generations

My collection is scattered all about and not organized yet, but if youd like i could borrow a buddies camera and take some pics of the mess i have at the moment. I'm not joking or screwing around, I just seem to enjoy gaming in a different way than most people who seem content to play and trade their games away so they have nothing to hold onto.

You are right about one thing. I do have a bit of OCD about my game collection =P I dislike how messy and disorganized its gotten. Ive been in 'collect mode' for too long and need to start sorting and organizing a lot of the stuff

for those interested in Trinity Universe, you can get it from the online UK stores new for roughly the same price as it is used in the US. those places usually offer free shipping as well (even to the US)

Agree. He constantly posts in every new thread lamenting whether he should buy something now or wait or whether something is going to be better than something else or how he just doesn't know what to do about something. Who the heck cares? We are all here looking for deals and if you aren't contributing by posting deals, confirming deals, telling people what stores have what in stock, etc...at least have the courtesy to just be a lurker and stop wasting everyone's time. I wish he would just go away, but sadly, he lacks the self-awareness to realize that he contributes nothing by posting constantly.

Right. I would be surprised if you got any of the extra stuff. The game case, maybe. I'll admit the UK sites are a more appealing deal. The difference between the prices is pretty small, compared to what I thought looking at the Amazon prices, so you really don't save much going used.

ya gamestop online is pretty shitty, you never know what you are going to get

i've never had any problems ordering through thehut, zavvi, or game...and its new

i was surprised to see they had ar tonelico - i cant recall finding that for below msrp anywhere
 
Great, I just ordered Ar Tonelico Qoga from Gamestop, saw that it was available in-store near me along with Hyperdimension Neptunia (both with case+manual) and tried to cancel within 10 minutes of ordering.

Gamestop.com gave me an error message, so I e-mail them to cancel the order. I stop by my local gamestop, buy the two games, come home and call the hotline to force a cancellation on the Ar Tonelico order.

The guy on the phone tells me that he can't cancel the order, it's already being shipped up. This is within an hour of ordering it online and being prevented from using the cancel button immediately after ordering. Fortunately, apparently I can return it in-store and they will refund shipping costs too. I guess I could always sell it for more than the $49 it came to after discounts (I mean, it is going for $65+ on eBay but that depends on whether it comes with a case and manual).

But seriously, I can't cancel the order within 1 hour of placing it?
 
Does anyone know if Amazon is offering the limited edition of Fate/Extra? I just noticed on Aksys's site that they will be offering one, and checkd which i had pre-ordered on Amazon, and it doesn't say one way or another. I think it's just the regular edition, since its 29.99 msrp, but i dont even see an option for the limited over on Amazon. It would be strange if they havent listed it yet with a release date of 11/1. Where can you get the limited edition?

Hey at least you can return it and get shipping back. I'm actually surprised they're being cool about that. Still, an hour after ordering is a bit nuts. I guess thats good though? Means they ship stuff out fast i suppose
 
^id be interested to know when the Fate/Extra LE comes out and where as i pre-ordered it too and would rather get the LE if they have one.
