The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!
Right, because a game that is going to keep you entertained for around 25-30 hours isn't worth spending the money on...
When I can spend $5~$10 and get an equally lengthy (or longer) experience of equal or greater quality, why must I pay more for forced restrictions?

This is Cheap Ass Gamer, we're all here to get the things we love for the lowest price. When I have received 2 or 3 games for $30 total that will last me three times as long as one, it's hard to justify $35+ on a handheld title. I just got Okamiden for $14.50! I got Infinite Space for under $20. I can get classic PSone games or equally awesome RPGs on my PSP for less with no fake inflation due to market limitations.

I will apologize for wanting to save money and also having a fair crack at a game without scarcity inflating the price of the game past the MSRP... for USED.

Radiant Historia is tied with Legend of Heroes for my favorite RPG of the year. The game is fantastic. It is worth the money, period. As you said, we're here to get things for the lowest price. If you are interested in having this extremely quality experience, that IS the lowest price.

Finding it for $35 will be rare (it was $20 on sale once and I missed it, hence another aversion to biting). However, now it's $40~$70.

Hard, hard justification because I save the price range for games I absolutely need to play Day One, last game being Skyrim.

I'll just keep vigilant, but my days of paying large amounts for RPGs are gone. Very few have ever lived up to big ticket prices. The only one that I felt was at least worth big dollars to experience was Panzer Dragoon Saga and even then I felt the need to sell it afterwards to not limit the supply (and to justify a $100+ game!).

Wish I had more of an interest in TitS. I don't think it'd be my cup of tea, however.

So apparently El Shaddai was a lighnting deal for $15 today, would've bought it at that price. But I didn't expect such awesome lightning deals from Amazon after black friday.

When the hell did they add it? I checked the lightning deals at about 10am and there were NO listings for games. >:l

Got home just now and saw my copy of Persona 2 arrived today. Unfortunately it was the dreaded bubble mailer. However, despite waiting for me all day resting inside the front screen door (and even dropping it trying to carry a handful of mail up my stairs @_@), I can't really lose sleep over it. Outside of a small crease and dent on the right hand side (crease is from the top to lower middle), and a tiny tiny ding on the top left flap, the rest of the box looks great! For being in a bubble mailer, I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised!

Ok, ordered Zelda: SS bundle a few hours ago, so let's see how that one fairs. ^_^;
I hear ya. they never listen
No, at one point they listened. I ordered mine when it hit $30 a couple weeks back and it came in an A0 box.
Natsume is under this thread right???

Found a Freedom Wings for only 7.99.

Flying RPG might be the hottest thing since the Forever Lazy
Where'd you find it? Not much of a deal if we can't get it :p

Digital sales are rare to repeat quickly. They happen, but not for a while. Sega just did two cycles of sales, I think they are done for a while.

Buying the game digitally will be one more towards convincing Sega to bring out VC3. While buying an out of print VC2 UMD will just make someone richer.
I didn't have a PSP last month and I had not decided on on getting the Vita at that time, you think this is still a good buy at 22.49 or do you think this will drop again? UMD still looks high
I grabbed that VC2 bundle, after searching in the PSN store , it looks like it's not supposed to be in there but it is indeed. I think I'm gonna grab Lunar and Y's Seven as well, Nall would want me to do so....

My copy of Innocent Sin is bruised enough to annoy me but not enough for me to send it back. I cannot believe that Amazon is still sending this game in bubble mailers after all of the complaints that it received.

I am considering taking revenge on Amazon by ordering a bunch of dollar items individually with my Prime membership so that Amazon loses more money on shipping than the profit on the sales.

So as long as you order more than one game from Amazon, it will be shipped in a box and not a bubble mailer? Two regular games would fit in a bubble as well.

Why should I have to buy more to trigger appropriate packaging?

amazon has a "all you can eat" type deal with deliver company so they don't lose any money. If you do enough stupid things they will just band you.

You can take your business to gamestop.

I've actually ordered cheap posters from Amazon before to get my CE's shipped in an appropriate box. I did it with the Ys Seven premium edition and it worked like a charm. The item arrived in perfect condition, no thin bubble mailer.

This doesn't always work, though. Sometimes Amazon will ship items separately if they're located at different warehouses.

Semi-off topic, but does anybody own the Ar Tonelic Visual Book released by Udon/GUST? I am wondering how it compares to the two artbooks issued with the first two PS2 games. Does it have the same art, etc. in the Visual Book?

If anyone is interested Persona 3 Portable is under 20 bucks again at amazon and a few cents cheaper fulfilled by amazon by a 3rd party seller

I finally found a reasonably priced Radiant Historia copy. Very excited to get it in the mail. Hoping to find some kind of deal on 3D Dot Game Heroes. Also something for Disgaea 4, although I haven't played any others in the series.

It's $14.99 at Kmart (clearance). Can't guarantee your nearest store will have it, but it's been languishing on shelves near me.

Did you find Radiant Historia on eBay?

Surprised 3D Dot Game Heroes didn't go down like last year or even earlier this year...it stayed around the $13.99 range for awhile.

--
Ordered Fate/Extra LE...figured that $27.99 is pretty good. Surprised that it went lower than the previous BF/Cyber Monday pricing, so I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes down lower to $24.99. The only one I wish I jumped on is "Solatorobot at $19.99 when it was on sale.

Still waiting for Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage to drop down to $14.99-$16.99.

I actually got a new copy of Radiant Historia from Gamestop a few weeks ago. It was gutted, sadly, but the case was in good enough condition, and everything's there.

I was surprised to find I didn't really like the game very much. I doubt I'll finish it, so I'm probably going to sell it.

Is it really that rare? Only reason I found one at a Gamestop was because I was driving 3 hours to fly out of Charlotte so I did an online search and found one spot on the route.

Wow, prices jumped up fast. Amazon was JUST selling it for 19.99 and had several hundred copies. Now they are all gone everywhere? Hmm ...

Tell me about it... missed the $20 deal, thought it might return at the holidays and now even Amazon Warehouse is selling it $50 used.

Eff. Me.

i bought Dragon Quest V before the reprint for like 60 bucks and then a couple weeks later the reprint came out for like 19.99 amazon. man that was one of the worst mistakes ever

For those wondering, I found it on http://homefieldcards.com/ ... completely random and they had 1 used copy in stock for about $30. I think I just got lucky. They sent me a message earlier today saying they've put it in the mail, so I'll let you know how the service is when it arrives.

Yes, I was the flip side of that one, waiting and being rewarded with the 19.99 price.

On the other hand, I don't have a Skyward Sword bundle and missed the Amazon restock due to a power outage ... hopefully that one comes back!

The one I got at Gamestop was $30 which seemed really high at the time, but I was willing to pay it since I was about to be stuck on an airplane for several hours. Looks like I should be able to sell it for at least that, despite it being opened.

I really had no idea it was so rare until I saw the AWD price. :( I'm going to search my local game stores and see if I can find a copy.

As for Disgaea, you pretty much need to only get one game in the series, and that will last you a very long time. I've dumped a good 300 hours of my life into the first two games without even finishing the story. Leveling up and getting all those rewards is so addicting...
Does the Fate Extra LE from Amazon come with the same stuff that the Aksys store sells?
Everything except the bonus booklet thing (so I think it's a soundtrack and "artbook" which is really tiny). I heard the booklet is better than the "artbook" really, but I couldn't be bothered paying the extra + postage from Aksys.

I found a Radiant Historia (original run) in a Gamestop in Texas when I was over there in June, gutted and the outer box was a bit tattered but the game itself was still sealed. Another nearby store had an unsealed one, regretting not buying both.
What would be reasonable price for soundtrack version of RH. Someone is offering it sealed for $60, but sounds a little high to me
That's reasonable... I wouldn't sell my original print for $60.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll weigh the options then. Appreciated.

Glad I ordered a copy from Amazon when it was on sale. Still need to play it, though.

Yeah, it's reassuring to know that the music cd only has, around 4 tracks, totaling 20minutes, so it's not a huge loss to me. I do have the game itself sealed when it was $30.

Not sure if this is the place to post them, but I have some codes for Play-Asia .
I'd have used them myself, but the combination of divorce and black friday deals has wiped me out. Have some great holidays, fellow CAGers.

Just picked up a "used" copy of RH at GameStop yesterday, but fortunately it came with the case & book and everything was pretty much "new". Actually, the price tag said "New" but it was in their inventory as "Used" so I saved a few bucks.

While I hate a lot of things about GameStop, I have to say the guy that helped me went above and beyond the call of duty by spending about 15-20 minutes searching around the store for the game until he finally found it even though there were a few other customers waiting for help (though there was another guy working the register to help them).
