This "first" post will have current KS campaigns that are currently live and I am following or backed. Obviously this is all very subjective since I started this forum, but feel free to mention others that might be of interest. Obviously I am sticking towards video/ board games, but always open to suggestions.

Also another good site to check for Board Games is Gamefound

Live (backed):

Hidalgo - A Co-op Cozy Adventyre Game on Don Quixote's World (12 days left 239% funded)

Live (watching)

Hopetown-A Psychogeographic CRPG (23 hours left 417% funded)

Animation VERSUS (8 days 545% funded)

Monsterpatch: A Cozy-Monster Collecting (9 days days left 1871% funded) found by FamedGuardian

Abxylute One Pro - Your-All-In-One Everday Handheld (15 days left 6855%)

Quote from the update about the backer survey:

"QUICK UPDATE ON BACKER KIT: Before we head off into the weekend, we also wanted to give you a quick update on the implementation of BackerKit. We are now planning to deploy the form that will allow you to provide your mailing address and other information pertaining to your reward tier (e.g., the name you want to appear in the book) sometime in the next two weeks. We will provide another update when this happens."

Sometime in the next two weeks, so by February 14, 2025.

Back on November 14, 2024, campaign collaborator Josh Harmon wrote, "We’ll be finalizing our Backer Survey and sending that out soon."

I guess "soon" means three months.

Still on the fence if I want to back Chernobylite 2 or not.

The first one still sits in my backlog. The concept seems interesting. I could just wait until it actually goes on sale, not like there is any special add-on for backing the KS. I also prefer physical over digital games. I like the box (and yes get off my lawn )

Update (02/07)

Josh

"We’re preparing to send out our BackerKit survey, with the first batch of emails expected to go out Wednesday, February 12th....randomly assigned 5% of backers at each pledge level getting them first..."

After we’ve confirmed all is good with the initial batch, we’ll send out surveys to the remainder of the backers, which we expect to happen on Thursday, February 13th. So if you don’t get the survey on Wednesday, don’t fret. It’s coming, and it’s coming soon. We’ll post a quick note here when the survey has gone out to all current backers....

If for whatever reason you haven’t receive the survey by Monday, February 17th, when you (and we) expect you will, please leave a comment here or reach out and we’ll investigate to make sure you get it. (And please double-check that it’s not in your spam folder first!)."

Stumbled upon a new one today, Mayhem Brawler 2 (see above for link).

Decided not to back Chernobylite 2. Nothing really there for me to go "I have to back this". Maybe by the time 2 gets released I will have beat 1. I own it currently (one of the many in the backlog).

Both Chernobylite 2 and A Place For All My Books are almost over

Cant believe I didn't see the Ps2 anthology book. I am sure there will be a chance to buy it at retail when it comes out
Maybe? I will post the link to Geeks Line below. I have one of their books that I bought directly from them. They are really well done and packed with information.

I can say that it has been impossible to find the one they did of the Playstation 1 Anthology. I saw it once on ebay and should have snagged it. Currently there is a French version on ebay (last I checked).

That's why I jumped on the PS2 Anthology.

Course the wiating on that KS campaign has been insane. Feb 2024 the update said "later this year" and now in January they indicated "released to you very soon"

Not worried there though becuase I have seen the quality of their product.

Stars Reach just launched, mix of FTL and Strafiield....seems overly ambitious, but hit funding in first hour

Will probalby get funded in one day. Initially I am skeptical becuase I doubt it will work on the Steam Deck....and I don't care for Xbox.

UPDATE: It does work on Steam Deck...trying to figure out controls...see later posts lol

It says they are "planning free-to-play", if it is subscription based I am out. Only 2 games I ever played that were subscription based, EQ and WoW.

Will keep it in listing incase others are interested.

Just posting this KS here and see if I can not drum up some support. Or maybe this is futile and I am the only one reading this forum

I think it is an interesting concept.

There is only 22 days left and it is at 55%

For those of you interested or with significant others in your life this might be the perfect gift. It is called the Happily Ever After Soceity and it is a book about Romance Novels. I am not backing this one because my wife is (it's her first KS that she as backed). I also added it to the main posting.
.

Asked a question to Star's Reach about the Steam Deck (through KS) and they respsonded within 24 hours. Impressive considering they really don't need my one donation given how much they have raised..

If you read the main post you will see I have moved this to "backed"

Sadly, KS isn't great for videogames because many end up not delivering. You're much better off with boardgame campaigns from well known publishers that deliver I'd estimate 95% of the time. In fact, Gamefound is the superior platform now with an actual company behind it that produces boardgames and now videogames themselves. I've spoken with Marcin in the past and he's a G; awesome dude who cares about the community. Wonderful publisher and incredible games to boot.

CDPR has done great things there. The Cyberpunk game is still in pledge manager phase I think. You can get in on that until it's closed.

A) Glad people are still checking this out
B) I think that is why it is important to be picky with what you decide to back
C) Star's Reach is the first game I have backed and the people there have been very responsive
D) appreciate the heads up on Gamefound, always interested in new sites

In the end, you don't have to back something on KS because (I could be wrong) if something is great, it will get a traditional release (like Everspace 2 and Chernobylite 1). Some things that may not be the case.

I started this forum to get the word out about EGM....yeah that's been interesting, but morphed it into other KSs that I thought could use publicity.

Update: I backed Star's Reach and got an invite to play test within 24 hours of backing. Their people have been super response (Hi Niina if you check this out).

It loaded up on Steam Deck and I have to wait for an open Play Test to see how it runs...but the main screen came up🎉🎉

Update: I got into the game, but couldn't figure out the controls...all i could do was use a jetpack to fly straight up lol

Will do more tinkering, but looking to the SR community for guidance

Update: on Star's Reach...switched controls to keyboard and mouse (which I do not have currently), but I was able to move around. The speed is crazy and found I had some sort of grapple tech..plus I hit the side of a mountain and started to climb....there is fall damage, but your health regen...ran into some flying things, but have yet to figure out weapons so I ran....thankfully the speed is great lol

The EGM campaign missed another deadline: On March 4, 2025, campaign collaborator Josh Harmon wrote,

"We've always planned to release the PDF version of the Compendium simultaneous with the physical book. What we said was we were pushing to get the Digital Archive access out to backers who pledged for it by the end of February. Obviously we didn't quite make that deadline".

True, although I thought I read that they were trying to time to digital and the physical at the same time (ish).

The campaign has missed many deadlines, but at lesat they are communicating now. (just look at the KS campaign for the PS2 anthology....that one has missed deadline after deadline and now the most recent update saus "soon" 🙃

If you look at the comments section, as of 18 hours ago, they are STILL accepting backers. At some point you would think they have to turn that option off just to get caught up. Think how many people per day are still backing that are not commenting on the KS page?

NEW KS campaign posted in main line above

Elusive

Release is 2027 and I did message the developer the following:
'How is the amount you are looking for (which you already supassed, congrats!) going to sustain a company/ game that on Steam says not listed to release until 2027? Call me skeptical, but that seems like a crazy amount of wait time between the end of a campaign and the potential release of a product"

reply (within a day)

"We're a small team working in two projects at the same time (we're finishing Mika and the Witch's Mountain free extra content now) and Elusive need at least two years to reach what we would like to achieve with our current resources.

So the more, the better to have a stable situation for our team during this period ^^

Have a nice day!"

I just thought of this while making this post...maybe KS is a good way to get the word out about your game. If a developer already has the means why not post a campaign...the money is just bonus, but the aord of mouth could be priceless.

Or is that just crazy thinking?

Some of us have said this before… first ever kickstarter. I almost didn’t back the EGM one yet it broke my streak of never supporting any kickstarter, as Josh was communicating with me directly and we negotiated a special role for me. That being said, I expected the February deadline to change though the… scammy feeling of taking donations after the deadline isn’t right to me. I’m still considering contacting them for a refund since I saw it was on the table before.

I do recall Josh stating you could get a refund so I started scrolling through the Comments section on KS

Wouldn't you know about a month ago (according to KS) found this reply from Josh:

"Happy to issue a refund if you'd prefer that. Don't want you to feel like we're going to hold your money hostage...I hope that when the update arrives it reassures any major concerns you have, and if it doesn't, I would be happy to get your pledge refunded. I'm really not trying to be snarky with that. It's an earnest offer, because the one thing I don't want is for you (or anyone else) to feel like you're in a situation you're unsatisfied with."

Now to be fair, this was during the time when there was no communication. Since then I feel like they have been quite upfront about everything. It will be a "happy little mistake surprise" when the EGM book appears:p

UPDATE: so apparently there was some sort of legal battle here....

In short: "Frogwares, developer of The Sinking City, won the right to sole publishing and distribution of the game after accusing Nacon of breaching their agreement and falsely claiming ownership"

I just watched the trialer for The Sinking City on Steam. Now I am not much of a horror game person, but I am very intrigued (alos if you back 2 there is an option to get a digital key for 1...don't know if get that right away or upon release)

And it is Steam Deck verified🤯

I've not played the first one yet. I recently got it in a bundle with 3 Sherlock games for $18 on Xbox. The bundle is currently $119 now

I have the first one on my wish list and waiting for a price drop (PS5 or Steam) currently. Might just grab a physical copy off eBay 🙃

WOW!

Sinking City 2 funding jumped 170% in one day. I hereby take full credit for getting the word out :ROFLMAO:

I have to say with SC2 and Elusive the people running the campaigns have been responsive and knowledgeable bases on their answers to my questions. Still on the fence with those.

Can't keep backing games...it's like building a future backlog considering my current backlog:LOL:

Also, it's not really being "cheap" and getting games on deals.

However to quote Obi-wan "from a certain point-of-view"....

Follow me here. I spend the moey now (let's say $50), by the time the game releases I will have forgotten about the $50 and get the game for no money out of my pocket at that time. Brand new game on release day for free; from a certain point of view.

Kind of like killing Luke's father, but he (Obi-wan) didn't he just allowed for the situation in which Anakin was changed into Vader. Do a deed in the present (or a galaxy far, far away) for a future villian... (too much of a stretch??)

Justsome updates for you that are not following the main posting...

Mayhem Brawler 2 has 2 days left to fund

Happily Ever After is @ 96% with 9 days left

I found a physical edition of Sinking City 1 and should be in my hands with the week, now when I actually get to playing it is a whole different story (currently playing Dynasty Warriors Origins and really like the set up for it...but I digress

Happy Backing!

I backed Elusive this morning. There was only 16 Early Physical editions avaliable at the time. Now hopefully LRG isn't the ones producing the physical format :ROFLMAO:

Sinking City 1 is $4.99 on the Nintendo eShop. I snagged a physical copy (PS4) that arrives today (for $12 on ebay) for those that want to see what Frogwares has made before

One Kickstarter-related bit of news is that Asylum finally got released today, almost 12 years late, which is absolutely ridiculous. The initial advertised release date was December of 2013.

I have Kickstarter games from ages ago that are still waiting release. I do think Delver's Drop will release someday, and it's Kickstarter was in 2013 as well I believe. I don't care at all about the game anymore, but I may see the actual game maybe even this year. I don't do very many video game Kickstarters or Kickstarters in general anymore. I mainly do board game ones and usually for games I love getting new releases (my baby Innovation got a new ultimate edition....please stop with these editions haha). I think I only have Point Galaxy as one coming up because I want Cascadia Kickstarter editions as well, and they'll offer them for purchase after the Kickstarter is done.

I'm still waiting on Hex Heroes to release on Wii U- a game that was designed around the tablet. Glad I didn't put any money down on that game! At least the KS comments are mildly amusing.

This is similar to KS, but focuses on board games

I guess at least it came out?

I did message the Elusive developer and they seemed confident on the March 2027 release date. I realized by then the PS6 will be out and being a look new shiny console person and turn my nose up at previous generation I will have left the PS5 behind by then 🙃

There was an update for the EGM KS (the one that started this forum).

Apparently there are many that have yet to fill out the backer survey. They also have a preview up of sorts and lots of talk about the digital archve, which I personally could care less about.

New KS Campaign, seems interesting. I will have to look into this one more still.

Abxylute One Pro - Your-All-In-One Everday Handheld (30 days left 5019%)

Why is their goal only $1,285?

$1,285 is never going to be the difference between something getting made or not, so what BS is this Kickstarter campaign playing at? I haven't looked into it.

I thnk it is similar to the new KS campaign I posted in the main heading above called Hopetown (from some of the guys behind Disco Elysium). In (Hopetown) they openly state that this is to show interest to Investors to fully fund the game.

I liked Disco Elysium, but I am wary to back anything that the anticipated date is 2028.

I don't know if there are fees from KS based on the amount you are attempting to raise (sort of like how eBay charges more based on starting bid (unless eBay has changed their rules. I haven't sold anyhting there in forever). Also it does look more impressive with a 5000% funded versus a 135% funded so maybe that is part of it too. Create your own bandwagon?

As far as the device iteself, it appears to be a streaming device like all the other ones that are out there. It is their 2nd interation of it.

I can understand that from the campaign creator's perspective but not from a backer's perspective. The backers assume all of the risk for what benefit exactly?

In other Kickstarter news, the fiasco that is the SpaceVenture campaign released the game in early access on Steam today. I've wondered how many backers have died since the campaign started in 2012. Here is a related comment from four days ago from a backer:

"About 10,000 comments ago Bonds used a variant of the Drake equation after factoring in the average age of The Two Guys' core demographic and adjusted his results for a male majority (because of our lower life expectancy). The conclusion he came to was that more than a quarter of those who invested in the project had likely died since 2012. Based on backer interaction I'd gather that fatality rate has increased exponentially. I'm sure Mark and Scott are banking on their prospective audience dying off so that SpaceVenture can fade into obscurity."

Elusive 2 from Abraham Cozar in the comments section stated this (today):

"Hello everyone! We noticed that Kickstarter is not charging your contributions as it usually should, so we contacted their support team. We're waiting a response. Thankfully, there are 14 days to collect the payments, so there's time."

Makes me wonder what happens if KS can't collect the money for whatever reason?
