SWEET...about to head out to Kmart to see if they actually do have a Red Wii as MyGofer says they do. We'll see how accurate it is.
Yes it does. But that's a big difference from firing someone.
Any product kmart carried, featured in the ad, was in high demand, and ran a special deal on should probably be high priority to get out on the shelves, whether it's call of duty or dish soap or vaccums or a slow cooker.

Just needs some training of management to keep their employees on the ball.
Just needs some training of management to keep their employees on the ball.
My guess is that good managers all have looked for something "better".. not to say there aren't good employees working for Kmart (CIP: Josh) but I know if I was looking for a retail management job Kmart wouldn't be on the top of my list for employeement. Since Kmart still has a need to fill they end up hiring anyone who looks remotely decent on paper.

Hey... If I use the 25,600 points earned from a PS3 purchace of Black Ops towards a PC purchase of Black Ops before Sunday, will I get another 25,600 points for the PC purchase?

IIRC, You'd still get the 25,000 bonus (Cause the PC version gets it too) but the base points would be adjusted since you're using points to purchase it.

so $60 - $25.60 = $34.40 x 10 = 344 points base. So instead of 25,600 you'd get more like 25,344. If that makes sense? Just like other Rewards programs, you don't get rewards for using rewards.
She needs to be fired. I can understand about being ignorant towards video games if you're not interested, but really, it's not that hard to ensure that product gets to the shelves when it needs to get to the shelves, regardless of whether you're knowledgeable about what that product is. Her carelessness undoubtedly cost K-Mart at least a thousand dollars, if not more. Hopefully there's still people looking for it and will be able to purchase it through the weekend.
Damn, maybe the UPS box just arrived that day? You have no clue where this box came from or what if anything happened to the shipment. Have someone fired at store level? What is the corporate procedure in shipping/receiving the product? You guys are way too hard on store staff (rudeness aside, which is unforgivable ...ever) I was at a well run store on Sunday with staff members who care... on that busy day at 10 am not only was there only one staff member in the department but she was then told corporate was directing all electronics departments to process layaway orders! I watched as this poor gal politely went from slow to a literal crawl at processing orders... oh did I mention not only are all the games in locked cases but all consoles must stay in the back in a locked cage... so yes, every time a wii was bought or a game sold, she had to go to the locked case or cage to retrieve each item... I asked if she could just bring out a few red wiis and put them in the cashier booth...but no, she could be fired! I have not been in K for quite some time (all are at least a half hour one way now and I had not even been 50% successful in getting the deals listed on morning one...) but back then and still now...staff members work in fear of losing their jobs and mention it... it's just weird to hear this at three different locations... so please be gentle with unrude staff members many do care but are just overwhelmed with duties ...
Perhaps if these complicated deals are to continue, patches, preorder oops I mean coupon prerelease boxes, coupons with purchase, stacking allowed coupons on the same item, buy this get $$ off another in this list ... the store manager should be sent the details in advance and be responsible to informing all staff and cashiers... then they will see missing patches, games on release day, etc..and can react with corporate before a customer is disappointed, waits 30 -60 minutes, or is asked to make a second trip to spend $$$.
and don't get me started on the shopper rewards mess! I hope all departments stay away from new deals using this until after the bugs are fixed and customers are made whole (there is a bunch! today I called for a third time about the wii points, very nice lady told me thousands of customers are calling each day ...)

I agree, people need to be more respectful to anyone retail. It's a great time for getting stuff on sale but it's a nightmare to be on the other side when someone is all "Up in your face" about why this-this-or that isn't perfect.

Goes back to the discussion from 2.0 that too many people (CAGs included) feel a sense of entitlement when it comes to the service/retail industry.

Can anyone confirm for me that I'd get another $25 in rewards points if I bought a second copy of Black Ops? I bought the game on Tuesday, but now my cousin wants the game and he doesn't care about the bonus. I apologize if this has already been covered, but I'm in a bit of a hurry and only have an hour window to stop by Kmart today. Thanks

it's really hard to be irritated with the electronics staff during layaway season. It really puts a strain on their department.

Vlv723 can attest to the fact that we see piles of Wii, DS, and other systems at our stores some mornings, and they are gone that night.

I know I was on here Sunday saying I was through with this store (and I likely am for Sunday releases), but I'm going to cut them a LITTLE bit of slack until the layaway rush dies down).

I got two copies and got 2x rewards. One xbox and one ps3 if that matters.

Thanks confoosious! He wants a PS3 copy (same as me), so hopefully that's not an issue.

I just think it's a lack of organization. If they had planners for how the glass cases should be stocked with new releases it shouldn't take more than an hour to stock new releases. And that's being generous, most weeks it's not as many titles as we see here in the holiday season.

It just seems like none of the employees are prepared for anything. Like they just walk in every day and management gives them zero direction or communication on whats going on.

I think I might pick up Medal of Honor too if I can find a store that still has call of duty in stock. I think it should go for $15. I'll play the SP and trade it to gamestop for $20 before that deal is up.

Is it just me or is the stopyourwayrewards not working properly? I'm trying to register my member # for online access but the system is not recognizing it for some reason...

My understanding is that they DO have some requirements for the Glass cases and how they should look. I've been to a few different Kmarts while on the road and they all tend to have the same stuff on the top. I asked an employee who had been there for years why they didn't allow them to use the empty spots to fill with games they have a few of/etc. She says she wasn't allowed to put them there.

The other issue is older games. Since they have SOO many games that are quite old for the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 etc it becomes harder and harder to put in newer games when hoards of older games fill the case. One store I was in had 2 rows of every system and the sad thing is that NONE of the games behind the front row were the same. Unless a customer was looking for a SPECIFIC game and did research on a UPC or KSN they would have to have an employee dig through all the games just to check.

I'm just curious as to way all these older games aren't discounted heavily to push out a lot of the stock and free up some room. If I were Kmart I'd rather shove them all out the door for super cheap rather than hold onto them forever for the POSSIBILITY someone will come and stumble across it.
Epic Mickey CEs - We are getting about 3 -4 per store...basically similar to the stock level we had for Halo Limited Edition.
Can you confirm that this includes stores that typically don't receive ANY CE's from a majority of titles too? The store I go to didn't get Fable 3, Fallout NV, Castlevania, SWTFU2, or even CoD: BO CE's but I'm super excited to get my hands on an Epic Mickey CE for my wife for Christmas.

I wish his superiors would give him authorization to reveal one Black Friday deal to us as a little tease, maybe let him post a poll or something in the topic about what we'd like to see a deal revealed for and then list three things that are getting deals on Black Friday and we'd vote for one and he'd reveal the price and/or game coupon deal for it.

A man can dream anyway ^_^;;;

Awesome I'll be picking one up. Too bad the CE doesn't come with the special paintbrush nunchuck or charger for Epic Mickey.

Josh has explained he only has so much budget to work with.

He would rather use that budget to get us awesome deals on new games, increasing the revenue into his department, and then he'll start working on the clearance once he is alloted more budget.

He has already started to clearance out some newer games. They aren't the stupidly low prices they once were, but a lot of those games are still the cheapest out of any other store, like Nier, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Dragon Age.

Ahh, I guess in all my time reading this thread I missed that portion about the budget. I'm glad he's using his budget that way then.. cause I'm more interested in the newer stuff vs the older stuff. I just thought it would be easier for people to have better experiences if there was a modest amount of games in the case rather than having them basically EXPLODE when you open them.

Hey Josh, does KMart ever have stores send items BACK to the Warehouses so they can sell them online or ship them to a store that has a good purchase histroy of that item or low inventory of those specific games? I'm sure some of the more "up to date" stores who have less clutter/inventory wouldn't mind getting some of the older stuff to fill some of their shelf space/boost sales.

From an inventory auditor's experience, a lot of those under-selling products and such get RTV'd, or Return to Vendor. What happens AFTER it gets marked out is anyones guess.

Hey, SHC did you receive my email I sent a couple of days ago? I only ask because I sent a few hours before you said that you'd respond to all emails by yesterday night.

Maybe it's like Toy Story 3 and all the unwanted video games get donated to DayCares or something and end up living happy ever after.
Does anyone know if Sly Collection is available at the store right now? thanks
I would imagine there are a lot of factors to think of here. They shipped on Tuesday (not released), so if they were shipped cargo, or by a carrier that operates on Vet's Day, they might have made it to the store. You'd probably need to convince someone to get it from the back (since it is after Tuesday and they've pretty much finished loading the shelf).

After all that, you have to factor in the fact that it's AFTER Tuesday, so they person working electronics likely thinks it is something that comes out next week, and will refuse to sell it to you.
Wow, the DLC codes from the CoD hardened edition are selling for a lot on ebay.
i havent even redeemed mine yet. It's 4 maps! wtf. That's worth $50? If you're gonna spend $50, why not just get the prestige edition for a little more?

Any word on the specifics of the Maijin deal and whether or not the launch MSRP will really be $40? If that's the case and we could get a $10 or $20 coupon, this would be a day one purchase for me for sure.

I was surprised, I put mine on ebay when I saw the prices and it sold for $45 within 15 minutes.
I was surprised, I put mine on ebay when I saw the prices and it sold for $45 within 15 minutes.
I can't imagine they would cost anything more than $15-$20 when they get released for the general public on XBL or PSN later on. Even then you're still making money!

Yes, all stores will get at least 2...I think I generally say 1 in X stores will get them if they are really limited. We haven't gotten enough for 1 per store of any CE since Halo.

That's the point man, being Activision you know they will be selling these separately, I'll just rebuy them when they are $20.

Some stores might have it already but you wouldn't be getting any deals on it. The coupon starts Sunday

That's the only reason I'd ever buy a hardened edition is for the maps. But I have a ton of PSN points left from the buy a $20 PSN card get a $10 one... back when you could chain coupons in the same day... glorious!

It might be that but having these complicated, two part/three part deals is the issue imo...
TRU has issues with much less complicated deals and the video game department does not have to deal with cell phone plans (on Sunday staff member spent over 15 minutes with an elderly shopper about the various pay as you go plans and this was before she was able to help myself and three other wii customers), TVs (customer wanted to know the difference in models and what that meant in layman's terms), home phone systems (lady brought in a loose battery from her system and needed a replacement)...
All these duties are in the hands of (usually) one person at any time... and now you are asking him/her to find the Mickey boxes and explain it is not a preorder, locate a box of "patches" delivered earlier in the week, remind them which games will have a discount if bought with another, explain the shopper's reward system and why or why not the points are not appearing...
I read these deals and just shake my head in wonderment... any staff member that gets all the details weekly on top of the responsibility of the rest of the department has to be the exception not the rule...
Corporate needs to work ONE shift on Saturday in a store and then rock n roll with deals with that eye opening experience under their belt...

Correction: Game consoles are gone by the afternoon. The layaway line on Tuesday was out the door...seriously.

And I'll mention it again, there are idiot customers who doesn't buy anything in electronics want to check out at electronics and not at the front end which puts more strain in our usual trio in electronics.

Then you get people calling asking if a system is in stock or the layaway department calling to bring an item from electronics to their department...it's hell and I don't blame them for their customer service lately.

And speaking of Tuesday, it was really a mess: Lots of unboxing to do and it's not really their faults for not doing it. I waited almost an hour and they could not find Black Ops. I had to drive to the next KMart 80 miles away to get my copy. (I work in the field so I had a service call nearby :D)

Kinda sad though how I live in a bigger city than the other place: The KMart in the "middle of nowhere" had more Red Wii systems than in my local one and they still sold out (mostly in Layaway).
I wish medal of honor wasn't so bad. I would pick it up for cheap.
MoH isn't bad. I liked it, actually. The campaign was much more fun than the one I'm playing through in Black Ops right now. The amount of profanity hurled at my screen during Legendary would make bikers and sailors blush. I'm only doing it now out of a stubborn sense of completionism, not any semblance of fun. Fun does not involve brain-dead squad AI, horrible checkpoints, and Super Snipe-o-Vision enemies. It is most definitely a Treyarch Call of Duty. And all of the same annoying problems have carried over since Call of Duty 4, and not been fixed. The moment endless waves of enemies are removed from COD forever is the day I openly convert to Kotickism, worship of our divine overlord, the Almighty Dollar.
I'll help everyone who purchases Black Ops and Enslaved to get credit.

However, the price change happened last Friday and stores have 7 days to activate it.
Ah... this explains why the price wasn't changed. Shucks. I know there's nothing you can do after-the-fact if I didn't buy it because of the old price, but will it show up in future "Buy X Get Y for ___ off" events?

FYI: my kmart had the enslaved price adjusted today finally ( in Idaho). It wasn't when I was in on tuesday, just wanted to pass along that update. Cheers!

Any chance at a DSI XL mario kart bundle on Black Friday? I'd love to pick this up for my Dad (who travels to Switzerland 3-4 times a month) but 180 is a lot

Is there a way to limit quantities on the really sweet deals? I went to the local (12 mile drive) Kmart on my lunch break today to pick up Black Ops for 360 and when I got back to the games some bung hole was buying up all the 360 copies (I saw his receipt and he bought 14 copies) so I had to settle for the PS3 version. kinda pisses me off to see people abuse the system and ruin it for the rest of us.

Were they purchased all in one transaction? Or separately? If separately, I wonder if the points were in effect immediately. If so, likely made out pretty well.

At some point, the manager should just step in and say "we can't sell you that much." and tell him to go ahead and call a lawyer if the guy continues to be a douchebag.

Thats fucking ridiculous but hey he'll make some money off it if they dont cancel his SYWR account. If the points get posted quick I hope for him he spends it quick.

SHC, do any of you have a complete list of the budget video games the ones that have a different barcode/sticker over the original upc. Could you post it?

I mean the games like $10-$20
PS3 $20
Saints Row 2 (greatest hits)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3 (greatest hits)

Xbox 360 $20
Sonic Unleashed (platinum hits)

PS2 $10
Shadow of the Collossus (greatest hits)

PSP $?
Coded Arms
Lumines II

I bought two copies at two different stores and at both locations points came up instantly. In fact, at second store I bought CoD on one transaction and turned around immediately and bought a red Wii with the points from the CoD sale. It was awesome.

My guess is that this guy bought one CoD for $59.99 and bough each other one at ~$33 with his points to resell on ebay. Likely after each sale he will pull $8-10 per copy after fees. Not really worth the time or effort for most of us, he might just be the cheapest gamer though.
