Touché. Though, I think IATCG has stated before that he doesn't usually go for these kinds of new release deals. He's more of a clearance title guy. That's purely conjectural, though.
I bought two copies at two different stores and at both locations points came up instantly. In fact, at second store I bought CoD on one transaction and turned around immediately and bought a red Wii with the points from the CoD sale. It was awesome.

My guess is that this guy bought one CoD for $59.99 and bough each other one at ~$33 with his points to resell on ebay. Likely after each sale he will pull $8-10 per copy after fees. Not really worth the time or effort for most of us, he might just be the cheapest gamer though.
The reality is the best you can do on this (a non tax state) is $34.40 on the first used with points and then $34.65 after that. If you sell for $60 a copy with free shipping on Ebay (just looked and that is about right maybe a little high actually) then it will cost $7.44 in fees using Paypal + about $3.00 to ship. He could make about $14 a copy. Now if you live in any sate with high sales tax it could eat about 2-3 more dollars. It is a douche thing to do but at 13 copies you can clear $130-190 bucks. Maybe I should not have written all this...I am not trying to advocate for it just pointing out that its not trivial amount of gaming money. That was a best case scenario though. If he gets unlucky and sell for less than it definitely eats his profit.
Any word on the specifics of the Maijin deal and whether or not the launch MSRP will really be $40? If that's the case and we could get a $10 or $20 coupon, this would be a day one purchase for me for sure.
Definitely need to know this - otherwise I'm on the verge of preordering at Amazon or Gamestop (where I can use a $10 coupon). Josh, if you could just verify the $39.99 pricing and whether there will still be a coupon deal in that case that would be great - any $39.99 + coupon combo (though hopefully the coupon is $15 or so) and I buy it at Kmart. You don't have to tell us the amount of the coupon (just yet) if you can at least verify the price + that there will still be a coupon offer.

Maybe it's just the former manager in me talking. I didn't think I'd have to defend my position.
Damn, maybe the UPS box just arrived that day? You have no clue where this box came from or what if anything happened to the shipment. Have someone fired at store level? What is the corporate procedure in shipping/receiving the product? You guys are way too hard on store staff (rudeness aside, which is unforgivable ...ever)
You're way too forgiving to the store staff. They're paid to do a job that they're not doing. Without selling the product, that money doesn't go back into the store, which leads to the company having less money, which means less money to buy products and pay employees with. Her negligence will fall onto someone. You and I both know that the box arrived late last week. Black Ops was street dated and arrived at almost all vendors the weekend prior to launch. This "lol i dunno" excuse that K-Mart staffers seem to have in regards to the product that they sell has to stop. Did she seriously pick up a game box labeled "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and ask if this is the product he was looking for after he specifically asked for a game by the same name?

I was at a well run store on Sunday with staff members who care... on that busy day at 10 am not only was there only one staff member in the department but she was then told corporate was directing all electronics departments to process layaway orders! I watched as this poor gal politely went from slow to a literal crawl at processing orders... oh did I mention not only are all the games in locked cases but all consoles must stay in the back in a locked cage... so yes, every time a wii was bought or a game sold, she had to go to the locked case or cage to retrieve each item... I asked if she could just bring out a few red wiis and put them in the cashier booth...but no, she could be fired! I have not been in K for quite some time (all are at least a half hour one way now and I had not even been 50% successful in getting the deals listed on morning one...) but back then and still now...staff members work in fear of losing their jobs and mention it... it's just weird to hear this at three different locations... so please be gentle with unrude staff members many do care but are just overwhelmed with duties ...
Perhaps if these complicated deals are to continue, patches, preorder oops I mean coupon prerelease boxes, coupons with purchase, stacking allowed coupons on the same item, buy this get $$ off another in this list ... the store manager should be sent the details in advance and be responsible to informing all staff and cashiers... then they will see missing patches, games on release day, etc..and can react with corporate before a customer is disappointed, waits 30 -60 minutes, or is asked to make a second trip to spend $$$.

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand unless you're saying she was "too busy" to put out a game. No, it's cool, they had the weekend and all day Monday to prep it, and I'm sure the 12 or 13 hours they were open on Tuesday she was busy looking around at all the invisible customers or smoking a cigarette out by the loading dock or something, and on Wednesday, she just didn't quite make it to receiving the product that was supposed to be on the shelf over 24 hours ago, and even though she had been fielding customers all day asking about some Carl on Duty game, darn it all, she just couldn't be bothered to search the system to see if she had it in stock.

The store managers ARE sent advance notice and SHOULD inform the staff and cashiers. I'm fairly confident that notes and memos print out from corporate too, so there's literally no excuse that everyone shouldn't be up to snuff on these deals. I could understand perhaps stores being slow to adapt, but we're literally about three or four months into this program now.

My local K-Mart had a bumpy start with this program as well when it rolled out over the summer, but now they're on top of things, they almost always have product out on release morning, they keep up with the gaming coupons and they're generally a friendly store.

Coupon ignorance can be fixed, but this "Wow, people have been calling all day yesterday and today for this game, I'm glad I finally found it!" business has got to stop. That's why I made the original comments that I made.

Maybe I was a bit too hard on her by saying she should be fired, but someone definitely needs to either A.) coach her or B.) put her in another section. I would imagine that electronics have to be one of K-Mart's top grossing sections of the store and they needs someone who can keep up in that section in each store.

does the black ops 25,000 points deal only work in stores? i went to order online and it says i will only get 600 points.

That would be clothing as the top gross profit maker for Kmart by a large margin.

Anybody tried matching the Kinect deals at Best Buy?

I was considering Kinect + Dance Central, as I have a $50 RZ cert, but it'd be nice if they'd match the K-Mart deal for buying Kinect and a game and give $40 off...
That would be clothing as the top gross profit maker for Kmart by a large margin.
Wow, really? I figured there'd be more of a profit margin in electronics than anywhere else (I'm sure there's a huge markup on clothing but I thought that even with lower profit margins, more electronics stock would sell than clothing stock).

From my days at another retailer as well as a cousin who is a buyer for a national clothing store. The cost on a Retail $15 dollar shirt is around $2 after all costs are considered. Higher dollar clothes have an even wider margin. My cousin won't buy from her store unless it's at 75% or better and the store still makes money.
:bouncy:

Josh, I havent been to the threads here since Sunday, but I bought both the Red Wii on SUnday morning and Black ops on TUesday morning, with my rewards card, and nothing has showed up online.. Whats going on?

Picked up balck ops, got my points, used my $20 credit from sims on it, walked away with no patch.

i didnt want to be "That Guy" but i walked back to the counter and was gonna ask for my patch, the guy saw me and said "Forgot to give you this stupid patch"....

i died a bit inside, but its a nice FREE spankin patch

Most consumer electronics have almost NO margin. You're talking about anywhere from 10% to 1% margin on electronics. Most large electronics are sold at near loses after shipping, marketing, labor. As far as actual hardware goes that is - on stuff like cables, there's 1000% markup.

Bought 3 Copies on black ops one xbox 2 ps3. 2 for myself one for a friend and never got a patch. 3 copies 3 different stores. Bought one prestige, one regular, and found a hardened today. Not a big deal but 3 stores didn't even have them patches out?

Thats still better then people who bought the game and then turned around to return it in an attempt to keep the bonus coupon/reward points.

I am pleased to announce that my local Kmart electronic department is great. The lady that is usually there is helpful and nice to me. When I first started following these deals I went in there and had a problem but it was my fault because I was trying to buy more than one game with deals going on. I just had to ring them up seperately. I just whooped out my iphone and went to the kmart gamer blog and tlod her about the deals now she buys a few games for her son and she even told me about the black ops deal and how she suprised her son with the game. The games are always stocked and the lady is always helpful. Ill get her name next time maybe SHC can give her a pat on the back. Its the Brandon, FL store by the way.

just signed up for a SYWR card and bought Enslaved and Black Ops for a grand total of $59.38 after a $20 Fallout coupon...thanks a bunch SHC!!!

i completely forgot about the patch, but that's alright...i still got two games for under $60...

but i must say store 7395 in Washington, IL did a great job...No hassle whatsoever, signed up for a SYWR card got some questions answered and picked up my game. Dane in the electronics was extremely helpful and knew about the promotions going on for the game...I have never had a problem with an employee in this K-Mart, but Dane is definitely the best...

Hi, I'm planning to buy my first game which will include a gaming coupon soon. I was wondering is the gaming coupon deal only for that day or the entire week? Grazi.

Oh, I know. I'm assuming anywhere from a 1-10% markup on electronics whereas the other guy said, clothes have a huge markup.. we'll say 60% for this example. I was saying that I thought that even with that little profit margin, they still made more off of electronics because they sold more electronics than clothing, which I didn't think anyone still shopped at K-Mart for. Electronics has to be second, then.

It's good the entire week (until the next Saturday at close).
ok so im assuming since i didnt get points for my wii and black ops purchase, something si wrong?
Did you sign up for your card online or in store?

I'm thinking those that signed up in store are the ones having the problems.

I signed up online and got my BO point instantly.

Josh has (basically) said the website is fucked up so dont pay attention to it. If you're worried about it you can call SYWR help and ask about it. Josh posted the number somewhere in this thread. If they still dont help, get in touch with Josh.

Black Friday ads look pretty terrible to me this year. I honestly feel like Kmart's regular deals are better than everyone's "doorbusters". I expect Amazon may produce a great deal before all is said and done, but right now, I see no competition aside from Kmart for my Christmas gaming dollars.

I also have to applaud Kmart/Sears corporate office. They followed up with me today to make sure I was taken care of after the issue I encountered a month or so back. They really made me feel appreciated as a customer. That's the kind of thing that will keep me coming back.

I was able to use my points from Tuesday and the new bonus showed on my receipt. Zero issues. I didn't even have to tell Angie (I'm pretty sure that's her name) what game I wanted, she knows me well enough by now.

That's true. And you don't have to go stand in line at midnight for Kmarts weekly deals:)

So far, TRU's ad game deal is interesting, but the selection is REALLY limited. I would've done NFS and Goldeneye, if only they had included the GE bundle as one of the games.

Amazon may step up but they've been pretty pathetic with their recent Goldbox deals.

As it is right now, Josh has done such a good job on these new releasedeals that he knocked out the competition before they've had a chance to step into the ring.

But hey, maybe Bestbuy will surprise us

Wow. I think i finally found my good kmart. Totally organized store, has a person actually working in electronics, knew about the deals, rang them up correctly, and didn't act like they were ready to call me an asshole because I wanted to buy a videogame.

Josh I dunno if it's possible to give local associates a pat on the back for being awesome or stores for getting it right but store # 4376 in waukesha, WI was awesome and the cashier Adam was the best kmart employee I've run into yet.

I think for the most part the cashiers in the store I usually go are competent. But one guy actually outright guessed I was a CAG or something to that effect, which doesn't bother me in the least bit because the guy seems genuinely into helping people get the most out of their deals. He even reminded me of the Turtle Beach headsets.

That cashier did make a weird comment though about CAG. He was like, "Not everything on there is accurate." I was like, "But the representative there is the one who makes these deals."

I must say that I have become a family favorite. Golden Fries are crispy on the outside and packed with Ore-Ida goodness on the inside. Every fry is bursting with that great potato flavor your whole family will enjoy. Plus coupon was in sunday paper and be sure to show your SYWR card.

I noticed at the store that they entered the wrong ShopYourWayRewards account number for me.

They then refused to fix it because I used a gaming coupon on my purchase.

Again what is Josh suppost to do? He has no control over when and how the points post. FAQ does say it can take up to 30 day for the points to post. Just wait for the 30 days, and if they don't post then follow up.

Just bought Nba 2k11 with my rewards from black ops, ended up being something like $11.07 out of pocket.

Also after telling a cashier about the blog deals when i went in on tuesday, I found out today they printed out the list of $25 off games and taped it up by the register, so that's pretty cool.

Has anyone tried to exchange a game from the Black Ops deal if they used coupons at the time of purchase? I want to exchange Rock Band 3 for something else since Dell finally shipped my game and keyboard bundle even though it pushed it to next month. Since I've been busy with Black Ops, I haven't even opened RB3 yet. I would rather get a game I don't have than potentially end up with two.

Wow, one call and a 15 minute wait later, the friendly lady on the SYWR line fixed everything.

Good customer service is like a whole other world compared to shopping in a KMart store.

Edit: Alas I didn't get the CoD patch.

Tried to search but couldn't find it. Does the $25 discount off a game when buying Call of Duty: Black Ops work for Fable III Collector's Edition?
If it's anything like the past offers, it doesn't apply to CE/LE versions.
ahh...
I don't think you're been following the K-mart deals at all.
It is generally the other way around.
(CD/LE are included with the deals)
She needs to be fired. I can understand about being ignorant towards video games if you're not interested, but really, it's not that hard to ensure that product gets to the shelves when it needs to get to the shelves, regardless of whether you're knowledgeable about what that product is. Her carelessness undoubtedly cost K-Mart at least a thousand dollars, if not more. Hopefully there's still people looking for it and will be able to purchase it through the weekend.

Did she seriously pick up a game box labeled "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and ask if this is the product he was looking for after he specifically asked for a game by the same name?
There was no label on the box other than the "don't sell until 11/9" sticker. And it's not her fault in any way, she was actively looking for the box all evening until she finally located it wherever the OTHER people whose fault it is had stashed it. Think about this: There was a full-time electronics manager there from 8-4:30 all day on Tuesday AND all day on Wednesday, and s/he never put the games out or even told anyone where they were stashed. There was a part-time electronics associate there from 4:30-10 all night Tuesday night who either never found the games or never cared to look. So now, Joyce the helpful and reasonably diligent part-timer comes in to work Wednesday night at 4:30pm and keeps being frustrated by people asking for something she can't find. She keeps looking until at last she finds it, and she immediately brings it out and starts putting it in the cases. The fact that I happened to be standing in the video game aisle when this happened was coincidence. So it's certainly not Joyce who should be fired, or even re-trained. It's the full-time electronics employee who was there being asked for the game for 2 whole days and did nothing, and who was there when the UPS shipment was delivered to the store in the first place, who ought to be taken to task.
ok so im assuming since i didnt get points for my wii and black ops purchase, something si wrong?
Could be. Here's a question for everyone: On the SYWR site it states that you aren't eligible for bonus points offers unless you check the box to opt-in to receiving email special offers from Kmart & its advertising partners. I'm just curious as to whether litobirdy or anyone else who didn't get their points immediately printed on their receipt has perhaps not ticked that checkbox? When I signed up for SYWR account online, the box was NOT checked by default, I had to manually tick it.

I bought Black Ops 360 with Fable 3 LE today and got the $25 off of Fable 3 LE no problem. I've bought LE/CE editions in 2 of the last three sales like this and its always worked so I have no idea what you are talking about iPhone.

Others reported not being able to get it to work during the Vanquish offer, so it could be a YMMV thing.

As for issues with the Shop Your Way bonus points I recieved 0 at checkout for my Red Wii on sunday but when I bought Black Ops today I immediately got my 25k points on my receipt. So I have no idea whats going on (I realize it says they might not post immediately), but this worries me greatly that I won't get my points since one was immediate and the other not.

During Vanquish I bought the Castlevania LE and had no problems with the discount. Sad to hear others have had problems. Josh can probably inform us better but I would figure it is more likely a glitch then a YMMV thing.
