Can you sign up in store for the Shop Your Way Rewards program? The website is down and I need to sign up before (or on?) Wednesday as I am getting Gran Turismo 5 and want the $25 gaming coupon.

Yes, you can sign up at any register throughout the store.

Better than blindly spreading false/misleading information about a subject you couldn't know anything about. The dude had a legitimate beef with the requirement of the SYWR card and you came down and white knighted K-Mart by insuring him they don't sell information!

It probably won't...but even so, I'm definitely getting it just for the coupon alone. Could probably resell it for 50 bucks on CL or even full retail on eBay and just keep the coupon.

Thanks, so if I sign up for SYWR Wednesday and buy Gran Turismo 5 immediately after, I shouldn't have my problems getting the coupon? Or is there some sort of delay in activation?
 
Can I go to my kmart and request a new SYWR card? I never received mine through the mail yet. Could I just say I lost mine and need a new one.

I made the mistake of signing up online when you could get the card the day you sign up in store.

My personal opinion is I really don't care if they track every purchase I make. If it means there are more things available I like to buy or they send me information for things I might be interested in then it is really not an issue. I look at it as a 2 way street really. You cannot expect better service without giving up some information. Its mostly paranoia IMO.
 
No DKC for me. Stopped by around noon. The game wasn't in the case yet, but the lady in electronics offered to check the back. She came back empty-handed and said the truck with the game would arrive Saturday (?), but I was welcome to use their phone to call other retailers to see if they had it (?).

I went to Target and bought it. Sorry, Josh. :(

Pretty bummed as I'd been saving my $25 coupon from Enslaved, skipped other good deals along the way, specifically to use it for DKC. Now I don't know what I'll use it for. Nothing on the Thanksgiving/Black Friday list really appeals to me.
 
What's up with this? Are we moving into needing a card for every purchase?

There is no delay. When purchasing you can even comment to the cashier to make sure they select "enroll with sale" so there are no possible issues that come up.

both of the kmarts around me dont have donkey kong. disappointed yet again. will the deal still be valid during thanksgiving/black friday?
 
Forgive me if this has already been answered.
What sort of time window do I have with these two $10 gaming coupons?
Are they good through the weekend? Month? Year?
I am planning on going to get DKC 4 on Wednesday, hopefully hold on to the coupons for a good gaming deal .
Say,... Black Ops(Wii) for $39.99, use the coupons and shell out $19.99.

I stopped by Valecia (in CA) store to buy a copy of DKC. They DID have it, but I just came back home empty handed 'cause I was told by the clerk that SYWR system was still down as of 12 PM PST and I would not be getting any reward-specific deal (in this case, extra $10 coupon) until the system is back up. Oh well, I guess I will just go back later this evening or tomorrow afternoon.

Btw do we have any ETA for the system back up?

I just talked to a SYWR CS and was told as long as you have your PIN and member number you can still use your points till the card arrives which takes 4-6 weeks for some reason. So you can print a temp card from the site and change your pin there as well.
 
:cry:Struck out at both local stores (#3435 & #3363).

Didn't find DKCR in the case. The Rep looked everywhere and couldn't find it. He even checked in the computer, but no stock showed up for his store. He did say the other store had 6 in stock.

Checked with the other store and same problem. Nothing in the case and unable to find it in the back. I mentioned how the other store checked inventory and that they're suppose to have 6. He checked and verified they should have it but still couldn't find it. Another rep thought they were all sold yesterday:roll:

This is the first real stock issue (as in NOT having it in stock) I've experienced since I was trying to get Plants vs. Zombies. Eventually got that, a few days after release though.

All I can do is hope that they get more stock or find their inventory.
 
hey i see that using sywr card is now required to get your coupons to print is this limited to one coupon per card for the same game or are you allowed to buy say 2 copies of gran turiosmo and get 2 coupons?

haha don't worry if it ain't there tuesday or wednesday (which it prolly won't be) i'll prolly head back there on saturday to avoid the crowd. they also seem to get a lot of each title anyway (and i only get ps3). lookin for jam, gt5 and splatterhouse this week, will wait to next week for sly collection so i can use up some coups...they had a bunch of them so i ain't worried bout it sellin out

I got your PM and will get back to you tomorrow once I get to work and can see what we did and/or didnt get. Having said that, NBA Jam has been an issue at all Portland area stores to my knowledge as we never got it on Friday as planned and according to receiving we dont receive shipments from UPS or FexEx on the weekends so the earliest Beaverton, Portland, Gresham, Tualatin and Oregon City will get it is Monday.

My local store never has stuff in stock, they started this reward program why don't they loet card holders order the deal online if they want to make a sale?

Never got a card either--probably won't either. But yeah, they can look it up with your phone number but I don't think they'll let you use any points without a PIN. You can definitely earn them, however.
 
Had mixed results today but ultimately it worked out.

Store #4717 didn't have DKCR. The guy who was working in that department does not normally work there. He did tell me that 4 other people had asked about it today. He offered me a rain check and said they may receive it tomorrow. I declined the rain check. They appeared to have some of this week's releases out in the case, but not all of them.

Trip wasn't a total waste since I found an Epic Mickey case and picked it up. I was able to use my SYWR card points to buy it.

Next I went to Store #9758. This store is small, much smaller and cramped then #4717. I found the Electronics dept tucked away in the corner. Each aisle is wide enough for one or maybe two people to navigate. There were THREE employees working in this department... anyway... they had every new release available including about 10 DKCR copies! Almost all the games in this store are displayed with the binding facing out. They had a lot more games in general than the bigger, cleaner looking store I went to first.

Long story short, I picked up DKCR at the second store #9758. I received TWO $10 coupons as promised after providing my SYWR card number. ONE issue, I wanted to use my SYWR points for this purchase, but for some reason it wouldn't let me (even though it worked at the other store a few minutes before). Guess I'll save them for my next purchase...
 
I was able to pick up DKCR today, and I signed up for and received a shop rewards card before placing my order. I had him scan my shop rewards card when I placed my order, and I still only got 1 $10 coupon.

Can anyone help?

Yeah, it's called e-mail Josh like everyone else has been doing when only getting 1 $10 coupon.
 
NO DCKR in Frederick, MD Store #3131. Nice guy never seen in the department did offer to look said he never heard of the game and said maybe it was out next month. When I showed him the sticker for the promotion on the case wall he was very confused. Said maybe it would be in on Black Friday. I informed him that Nintendo often releases games on Sundays and he said he did not know that. He said nothing was in the back in the cage. I don't know what is going on at this store but now 2 weeks in a row product is not on the shelf for the day of release and it is starting to get old.

Damn. Batman: Arkham Asylum for only $15 on Black Friday. Please let these deals be online as well with free shipping cuz I hate having to deal with the frickin' mob scene on Black Friday. :pray:

Not sure when you'll get the chance to get Epic Mickey for $5 ever again, so I'd go for that.

Personally, I'm doing the same thing and going for the $5 Epic Mickey (if you are getting the standard.) It may end up being one of those things that stays MSRP for a long time due to it being Disney and Mickey Mouse.

Hmm that's strange. I got back an hour ago from visiting the K-Marts in 34th Street and Astor Place. Lightning didn't strike twice for me at the 34th Street K-Mart when one of the electronics clerks said they didn't receive DKC:R so I had to go to the Astor Place one. God I hate going to that one. Even worse, there were the two cashiers I had to deal with yesterday on finding NBA Jam (funny thing, lo and behold they had NBA Jam for the PS3 behind the PS3 games display case. New releases are on Tuesday, my ass).

Luckily, I found one copy of the game behind the display windows where the Wii games are located so I grabbed one and proceeded to checkout, scanning my SYWR card, then scanning my $30 worth of gaming coupons and then paying the difference (before that, I asked nicely for assistance and received a bit of a snippy comment from one of the electronics associates there. To paraphrase, "can't you see I'm just getting in? I have to put away my cashier register drawer." A simple "Okay can please wait for a moment while I settle in" is too hard to say in the retail business nowadays?)

Anyway, the two $10 coupons printed out for me just fine. It sucks to hear people still having trouble even with scanning the card. And I apologize to Josh when I said he dropped the ball a few pages back. I didn't realize it was another department who decided to link gaming coupons to SWYR card accounts.

So the good news is I did manage to get a 2nd $10 coupon. Bad news is that it won't take effect until 11/28/10 through 01/08/11 so can't use it on Black Friday. Plus in order to use this coupon, I have to remember to let them scan or enter my SYWR number.
 
If this helps anyone looking for Donkey Kong Country Returns, I found mine in a red Nintendo anniversary case on the far side of the register. There were about ten of them in there and zero in the game case. I thought it was odd to have so many games openly displayed like that when they're so protective of the newer games.

Did both your coupons have that date, or just the 2nd one?

That's strange if the different coupons have different dates. I only got one but it goes active on 11/25.

To date, including today, I have never been asked if A) I was a member B) would I like to be a member or C) my card (if I had one) to scan. I have gone to K-Mart once, if not twice a week and not one employee has ever asked me. And this isn't just electronics - customer service, the front registers, no one has ever mentioned it. I just find it odd since the chain seems to want to push this card yet I'm not even sure if the employees know it exists.
