I am going to be so poor
Just a head up but has anybody check ebay to see how many auctions there are for model trains. My point, trains are huge. My dad collects high end Kato types and I have a small collection myself.

If Lego continues with trains and gets road names like BNSF, Conrail, Rio Grande, Etc then watch out. This could possibly get more people into collecting Lego trains.

I am going to get this set and hope more are on the way!

I don't think so.

Train fans like trains that don't take 15 batteries that need to be changed every 4 hours. Also LEGO has already down several trains that never sell that well. This set will be at least $100, most likely much more and it doesn't run or come with track.

LEGO has already down a few trains you have mentioned...

Some summer prices...

The Creator lighthouse is $40, the Kingdoms Farm is $70 (much better than the City Farm for $90 years ago), the Atlantis temple is $70, and the biggest space set is also $70. The SpongeBob sets are $15 (should have been $13) and $20.

Toy Fair 2010 starts on Sunday so we will get all the summer sets, and hopefully the prices, with some surprises.

Not many surprises here, but I thought some of the USD pricing information could be new…

Heads up - saw the Winter Village Bakery for $38.49 at the local Lego store today. Picked up one of the two that were left. Not the most awesome discount, but a discount nonetheless. :)

Happy hunting!

Did you spot the other commet about minifigs……

3 new series---- 48 figures, (3x16)

So there will be a series 6 out there… we know of 4 and 5

Fail on the prices on those sponge sets but I was right! :p

Glad the temple of Atlantis is only 60 & the kingdoms farm

I'm hoping for a b1g1 or b2g1 for TRU at summer!!

I really like the Kingdoms and Creator sets for the summer. Really can't wait to start on a mini Medieval Town! The Star Wars sets are also amazing. Hate the heat, but I can't wait for the summer.

Does anyone fudge around with the Lego Digital Designer? I was really impressed with the program! I can't wait to finish a few "modern" homes I'm working on to post on here. Would love to get some feedback before I place an order. I personally thought this was the easiest way to get going on creating my own models instead of buying tons and tons of various bricks.

That has been speculated for awhile now, that we will get four series this year. I think it's over kill but whatever. They will come out January, April, July, October and maybe repeat next year. I rather have them twice a year and ship them to K-Marts and Walmarts and Targets, or at least in Western Mass!

I care more about the sets because honestly the minifigures in the themes LEGO comes up with are really nice!

I think that press release is referring to series 3 thru series 5 when it says 48 new minifigs, since it also mentions several other currently available sets as well. Though I don't doubt we'll see a Series 6.

The worst piece of news I saw in there is that the Ninjago Fire Temple is going to be $119.99. Jeez, such a cool set, but it should have been $100 or less.

48 never-before-seen LEGO Minifigures

I don't think a press release like that would state the ones already out.... They would word it a bit differently if they were saying, "continuing on Series 3, expect 32 more never seen...."

Lego says no pics before release... yet throws out "never-before-seen" ?

Anyways, excited either way, the minifigures are probably what... pennies to make, and they are raking in now $3 each?

You're probably right, I just figured "never-before-seen" was marketing talk for "not released in regular sets". If they are talking about Series 6, there's always the off chance they'll be showcased at the Toy Fair (though I'm not getting my hopes up on that one).

Press releases aren't the best way to get info, it's just bragging. I would bet we won't see series 6 yet, but you never know. I want more pictures of the aliens and knights, those themes rock.

While Walmart clearance has likely dried up most places, I noticed this week that prices actually went up slightly. The Construct-A-Buzz is now $13 (was $12), and Space Police Undercover Cruiser went up 50 cents to $15. I was hoping Walmart would give them another drop by now, but guess not.

Oh, and thanks a lot bigdaddy for keeping the Lego news flowing. I am excited for this summer.

I like the new maersk train, I'm sure I'll pick it up. Have any of you had a chance to take a look at the new ship up close? I've only seen it at the Lego Store and it's a bit pricey, I think it was $120.
I just found new in stock Indiana Jones at my local Toys R Us. Very Nice. Very odd. Thats Toys R Us for you.
Not really, TRU is so damn expensive some sets don't move. I know a few around me still have the Temple of Doom, Venice Canal, the one with 2 planes & Ambush in Cairo.

I own the boat.

It was $80 6-7 years ago and I don't think it was worth now. Nevermind a 50% increase. I forgot the boat was $120, that probably means the train is like $180.
I just found new in stock Indiana Jones at my local Toys R Us. Very Nice. Very odd. Thats Toys R Us for you.
You must referring to 7195 - Ambush in Cairo. I've seen an abundance of these at 2 of the TRUs in my area recently and at MSRP too! Had to pick up a few.

As far as the Collectable Minifigs go. I remember at BBTB 2010 (correct me if I'm wrong Crane) when the VP of Marketing was talking about them, TLG had discussed possibly going up to at least series 7 depending on how well it does. Obviously, it's done quite well for them so we just might see a Series 7! Seeing how some figs have been somewhat repeated, I'm not sure how far TLG can go with this.

I was really hyped up about BBTB 2011 because of the Scratch & Dent sale at the LEGO store, but it's not happening anymore. Apparently, LEGO will no longer offer the S&D sale for any of the LEGO conventions because, as they have recently advised to BBTB, it no longer makes business sense to offer such a big discount. WTF?! Really? LEGO can't offer a special sale for loyal fans attending a convention for LEGOs???
I don't think so.

http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=10170-1
I knew that Lego had done some trains but not those. Thanks for posting link. I dig that BNSF.

About more people collecting lego trains, I was referring to some dads or grandfathers, who collect model trains, that might be more incline to buy kids lego sets if they trains.

My 4 year old daughter and I love to play with the two latest lego sets. I dig running the trains. She likes role playing with the figures. It is a lot of fun and a great way to spend time together.

Well I will be picking up the Spongebob sets for my daughter. They are a little overpriced, but first good sale I will jump on them.

We bought the Spongebob Orange Bus and Rocket over 2 years ago for my daughter when she was to young for them. I ended up selling them both on Amazon this past Xmas when prices for new sets were crazy. Ended up getting $170 for 2 sets I paid $40 total for in 2008. What can I say at the time we really needed the extra cash. Truthfully I felt a little guilty about buying then resaling the sets before she ever got them. However we bought the sets because we thought they were cool originally, not because she picked them out. Besides if I had every set of spongebob in front of her and let her choose one it would probably be the Heroic heroes set because she loves the episode.

Collectors are nuts in the secondary market! The one and thing I paid a lot of money for was for the gold c3po, I think I paid $90ish for it. I look at it like this, if I didn't buy it when it was around, I really didn't want it in the first place but to each it's own. Really makes it tempting to buy certain sets as investments. One Star Wars set I missed out on was the Droid Gunship, they discontinued around the time I started collecting again.

My Police Station order from BN arrived yesterday--that was pretty fast. They never got back to me on price adjustment though.

The Walmart and Kmart clearance "deals" aren't in my area. At K-mart especially, the sets are marked up 20-30% higher so the clearance price is like regular price.

Stupid Target.

They finally marked down HALF of the SP3 $100 space ship to $70. It's still not $50! It's been months and it's still not $50.

Oddly enough Target restocked the shelves, very nice amount, and they did get the SpongeBob sets from a few years ago back. Guess Lego made more or found more and are bringing them back for the two new releases.

Borders just sucks.

Tried to score a Fallingwater set with the 40% coupon, but they had them priced at $129.99! What the F? Star wars sets like the T-6 Shuttle were $74.99. They also had about two boxes of Series 2 Minifigs at $3.99. No wonder that company is falling apart. They love keeping inventory, apparently.
I wonder if that is a teaser of whats to come, I can see them making Bionicle/Hero Factory type Transformers Lego.
I'd bet money on it that MegaBloks has the license for the Transformers, and that that is a MegaBlok thing.

I just built my Galactic Enforcer yesterday and it is an awesome set! too bad the cockpits dont open up on hinges or something.

Nice, I only saw it once even at full price. Glad I grabbed it when I did. It's a nice little house. BTW, I belive Special Edition and all of the similar phrases mean exclusives. SE is Target. TRU has another one, Limited Edition maybe. I forget.
Huge YMMV, but Target had the Lego City House Special Edition (8403, also not sure why it's SE) on clearance for 19.98. The other clearance sticker on the box said 39.98 so it's definitely been marked down a bit. Below is the link to the set, doesn't look like it's sold on lego.com anymore.

http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-4517710-City-House/dp/B003F7TSOE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297414409&sr=8-1
Info on the transformers image...

Hasbro Inc., the No. 2 U.S. toy maker, is joining the building-block fray with a new line called Kre-O that's compatible with Lego and the similar Mega Blocks. The first products feature popular Transformers characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

Kre-O, launching in the fall, is intended to grab part of the booming construction set business that Lego dominates. While total U.S. toy revenue rose 2 percent to $21.87 billion in 2010, according to the NPD Group, building set sales jumped 13 percent. The line will launch with 12 Transformers sets. Hasbro plans to expand Kre-Os to its other brands eventually. Each Transformer set comes with two sets of instructions so the same bricks build the vehicle version of the Transformer as well as the robot version. Prices range from $6.99 to $59.99.

Kre-Os are one of thousands of new toys that will compete for the attention of kids, and parents, on display at the American International Toy Fair trade show in New York, beginning Sunday.

Well I'll be damned. Wasn't there a lawsuit or something going around against Lego for holding a Monopoly or something or other.

I bet the 13% increase is from husher, :whistle2:#
Word.

TRU has most of the new SW sets for 25% off this week.
I wonder if this could affect TLG's Star Wars license, since Hasbro makes a killing with its Star Wars figures.
Why would it?

However if it did that would who be great. Lego could sue Hasbro this time.

Border's is finally expecting to go bankrupt this up coming week.

I was thinking "Shit, I need to use my Groupon", then remembered that B&N.

I haven't ordered yet because the Apple Tree House is now 26% off on Amazon, if it goes above 40% I'll buy it there and then the plane from B&N.

(Shity) Toy Fair pictures from a shit site (it keeps crashing on me, too many people). So shity it's almost not worth looking at.

http://popculturenetwork.com/mediagallery/album.php?aid=718&page=1&sort=0

From what I can tell the press release prices are wrong. The medium size UFO I thought would be $20 is $30, the big base was supposed to be $70, it's $90. The walker thing is $20 for 167 pieces. No wonder why LEGO sales have gone up, they keep lowering the piece count and increasing the price I will no longer buy any. Thankfully the two smaller sets are less than $10

The site is so bad!

I'll be in for that Fishing Boat, especially at only $20. The Harry Potter Forbidden Forest "battle pack" is a pretty good deal considering the minifigs it includes for $12. And finally, the Millennium Falcon will be a "must-buy" for me considering how much I like those iconic original trilogy ships (and I don't have a MF yet).

The pictures aren't quite as good as the popculture site--but it's not crashing.

The UCS Lightning McQueen set is the cheapest UCS set of all time at $29. A lot of good stuff, LEGO's really nailing it this year. Seriously, it ALL looks good--even the NinjaGo stuff.
NinjaGo is just way over priced. The site is loading slowly for me, but it doesn't crash. (edit - Nevermind) I'm waiting for FBTB, they have the best pictures normally, and it's flickr so there are never issues.

Anyone noticed there is a medium sized police cabin thing in the advent calendar set? You build part of it every day or something?

I was hoping for a surprise set or sets. We know there are NASA sets coming out this year, besides City Space, but they weren't shown. They are most likely an exclusive theme, but it would be nice to see something we haven't yet. Did anyone even see pictures of the Star Wars advent calendar that should the other 12 days?

The site also has Creator sets which the other one I think forgot.

Alien Conquest is awesome, same with the Creator houses, and Kingdoms. Plus almost every set $13 and under is a great set, Harry Potter, PotC, Kingdoms, AC are all REALLY nice sets.

I'm glad City sucks this year, saves me money.

Oh god... paper?!?!

I totally agree, I love all the smaller sets and glad they didn't skimp on any of them.
I'm glad City sucks this year, saves me money.

Oh god... paper?!?!

They couldn't use pieces?
lol paper... funny maybe it's the same material as the sails... I'm thinking that Jack would go through the waterfall for something... maybe two rotating plates would work.
^There are the "solar panels" pieces that are the same size as the paper waterfall that would work fine.

The fishing boat only has 64 pieces!

Look at this boat...

Only $5!

I think I'll be buying all the $5 sets, the AC one looks great, the Atlantis one is great.

FBTB.net pictures... (Probably the best we will get)

I was really excited about the Harbor but $90 for 551 pieces my interest is kind of killed.

Also, little disappointed to find out the $20 boat only has 64 pieces. Not quite as good of a deal as I originally thought.

Is it me or has the piece count to price ratio seems to have gone up. I expect to pay a premium on license sets, but not the city. Any original harbor, marina, fishing boat interest I had is now gone since I would have to find them at least 40% off to get them at a descent price. It makes it easier for my wallet since 3 of the 6 sets I was considering for my daughter are now off the list

Fishing boat 64 pieces $19.99 .31 per piece
Marina 294 pieces $49.99 .17 per piece
Harbor 551 pieces $89.99 .16 per piece

Edited to compare the new Spongebob where you expect a small premium

Glove World 169 pieces $19.99 .12 per piece
Heroic Heros 95 piece $14.99 .16 per piece and it has 3 mini figs just like the Harbor set
