Just got my first ever VGP purchase today. Impressed with the entire experience. Prices were mostly good (only paid +$10 over list price for Animal Well, versus the extra $35-40 on the gray market), shipping was fast, and the games were packed in a perfectly sized cardboard box. Will definitely keep them bookmarked going forward. Fingers crossed that the 25% tariff on all things Canadian doesn't happen. Would be happy to give them more business!

VGP is unaffected by any potential tarrifs. Their main warehouse is in NY.

Re: tariffs. Keep in mind that a lot of times there's a minimum value for small parcels before tariffs get implemented. For China, it's been at $800 since 2016 (there was a 2-3 day period earlier in February where that minimum requirement was dropped, but the government reversed course and reinstated it). I'm guessing we could see a similar minimum requirement for small parcels out of Canada and Mexico.

Just adding on to this, for the consumer... even with issues with China... if you are buying from PlayAsia, they ship through third parties to get stuff into the states and the origin isn't really listed in the tracking. It ships through various hubs in the US before it ever is handed off to the USPS for delivery. So the slow shipping, should still work.

The bigger issue here is for LRG since they have items manufactured in China that go into the collectors editions of games (and possibly some of the merch and other random items). I'd imagine some of that will get a price bump.

My one issue aside, I’ve always been happy with VGP. Free shipping at $80 and they put it in a box?!??

Good point. I was speaking more from the perspective of an individual buying from VGP, Play-Asia, other international storefronts, etc.

Is there a list of countries that make game discs? I'm assuming there aren't any US locations, but maybe there are other low cost countries that LRG could use

For North America, it's Mexico. There's also one in Germany. That is, BR discs. CD I think has more countries and DVD as well... though much of that is Mexico.

Yeah, no need to worry about VGP. If you go back to your tracking you'll see they shipped from NY.

Yeah, I did note the Bay Shore, NY address early on in the ship process. Just wasn't sure if the business would be subject to said tariffs since they list as a Canadian business. I admit I'm not completely sure how all that works. Hoping you and others are right on that, given the positive experience. Will definitely be keeping tabs on their website, regardless.

Any thoughts on PNP Games in this conversation? Just placed an order with them too, but it's still in the shipping process.

I've had one order with PNP, and it went smooth and delivered quickly.

Yeah, I'm super late to the party on these Canadian sellers, but some of their deals are pretty solid, after accounting for currency exchange rates. I think PNP has a lower 'free shipping' threshold too. I did opt to pay an extra $3 Canadian for premium packaging (which I assume to be some sort of cardboard box). No LRG pickups in that order, and I can't recall what kind of specialty product they carry, but hard to turn down sub-$15 deals on more niche stuff.

I want to say VGP has an address out of Ontario, while PNP is out of Manitoba. Hoping this PNP experience is a good one too. Always up for widening my options on good retail deals.

I got my P3P CE a couple of weeks back, but site won’t let me upload photos. Got an XBox copy, but my CoA is for PS4. Had to contact LRG for a replacement CoA, but it hasn’t shipped yet.

Oh man... so I have to open it to see if I got the right CoA? I like to treat all my games Schodinger's Cat and leave them sealed and contemplate whether I have something fully intact/functional or if there's something broken or missing inside.

Eh, who am I kidding... it's LRG, of course the cat inside is dead.

Looks like LRG did lay-offs this week. Jared wrote their books and was their director of marketing. He previously worked at IGN, Kinda Funny, and Google. From everything I've heard he seemed like a nice dude, hope he lands on his feet. He certainly has a stellar resume, but it's rough in the industry right now.

I wonder which books were his. I think it's Jeremy Parish that's been doing a lot of the console anthology books for LRG.

His LinkedIn says "Writer, editor, and project manager for publications" and talks about him editing for the Press Run books, so I'm not 100% sure.

It's been so long since I've made an order with LRG I forgot this is how I feel after every time waiting for my order to ship,

I thought it would be more like...

I've bought several of them over the years and they're just okay. For gaming anthologies, I'd recommend Geeks-Line or Bitmap Books over LRG. Those ones have better layouts IMO, but the bigger benefit is that they tend to just put everything into a single volume. I'm not a fan of LRG publishing books that only cover 2 years of a console's lifespan. I have low confidence that they'll ever bother publishing all the necessary volumes.

Ooph they piece out their books like many of the games they publish (individual releases vs collections)? That is a hard sell.

Just to show how my mind works I probably haven't heard the name or even thought of Sigma Star Saga in... 15+ years, saw the post here and went "...that was the game with the oddly horned up character art, right?"

It was, BTW.

Did anyone here get their P4 Grimmoire Edition from LRG? One showed up in my eBay "recommendations" and I was a little surprised and doing a search, shows a lot of people listing theirs. Given I just get the P3 SEES Edition... kinda curious how so many people already have the P4 Grimmoire Edition.

Oh well this is a surprise... I remember getting the game on the GBA on sale and being excited for it and then never played much of it. Pretty niche game from what I remember.
So remains stuck on the GBA with bootleg carts? I mean, it's very easy to play that game if you really wanted to, so why pay for a "licensed" knock off?

I could see a modern port, but this is just weird.

Similar to me, finding a copy new/sealed ... being happy... but I didn't even break the seal on it. It's supposedly a pretty good game but another case of more money than time.

It is a good game! Played and finished it when it came out. I remember it having a pretty good story and the gameplay was too shelf for the time being Wayforward's work. If they release it for switch I will definitely buy it again.

Is the Persona 4 Golden Midnight Channel Edition still set to ship in March, or did it quietly get another delay?

The page still has March 2025... I haven't gotten any emails on delays or otherwise. My P3 SEES order was back in Nov 2023 and I just got it like 2-3 weeks ago so I'd imagine P4 will be something similar, so since that was ordered Dec 2023, it should be this month... but who knows (LRG prob doesn't).

What page?

Does anyone here happen to know roughly when the physical copies of Hi-Fi Rush are slated for shipment? I never pre-order from LRG since their retail store is an option, but they're terrible for not posting any sort of announcement on new releases each week at the store. Assuming once people start getting their shipped copies, the extras will make it to the store. Don't want to miss out on it like I did with Animal Well last year.

Yea, about that... Preorders never even opened up for Hi-Fi Rush. Went over a full year with no new information.

I can only assume that it switching hands from Microsoft to Krafton put a big recharge in things, but even before that things went radio silent who even knows anymore

Appreciate the info! Hope they're able to get it sorted. For some reason, I thought it went up for pre-order before Animal Well, and Animal Well has come and gone at the retail location. Had been to the store a handful of times last year, keeping an eye out. Saw Pentiment physically so was figuring it wasn't far behind. Fingers crossed it hasn't been kiboshed.

I see on the front page that the Sonic X Shadow Generations collectors edition is back up for preorder at Amazon. Not that it was a good deal in the first place, but considering the sales in the game now, including the PS5 version being $25 on woot, makes this even worse.

If they couldn't get it out by the game's launch last fall, they shouldn't have done it.

Does anyone know details about the Nintendo Switch Zelda Breath of the Wild with Expansion Pass on Cartridge.. I see there's 2 of em.. 1 from Japan and the other Korean.. do they both have English subtitles ? I see the cover has slight differences - if someone owns this game and could share details & maybe pics for reference I'd be grateful

I don't know about the Korean version, but I have the Japanese one and it's completely in English. I think it goes by your system's language setting.

I’ve never heard of this before. Was it announced and never released?
