I got tons of the WD Lunar stuff. Both PS1 CEs, both PS1 guides, both SCD releases (I think I have 3x variants for Lunar 1, most prized being the disc 7 variant), both SCD guides, the puppet, and some poster (I think it was originally from the PS1 SS guide offer mail-in or something). I always wanted to buy a bunch of shit from WD's website but alas, I was a poor kid and that stuff is insanely expensive now.

Would post pics but don't think I can dig out most of it since there's construction at my place and it's all crammed in a room.

The actual games themselves for modern systems are made okay and all just at full prices along with full shipping prices as well. As long as you don't expect games to be fully complete at production and can wait 6+ more months usually past digital release date you're good. The collector's stuff and other random stuff is usually heavily delayed (everything is delayed regardless) and can have quality control issues.

We just need to treat LRG as it is...just another ESRB game manufacturer taking games others don't want to put the effort themselves to produce. I usually lose interest by the time I get an LRG game in the mail which usually means I got the digital cheap and immediately sell the physical, just don't care anymore and sell, or still have interest and likely went digital anyway since it took so long to get to me. I do open LRG product when it's stuff I want to play. This is similar to Kickstarter and I usually try to get evergreen stuff on there, so it's good whenever it gets to me.

I really wish people would stop buying their merch and collector's editions.
They’ve managed to be a sort of hyper-capitalist speedrunner. It’s no longer about their original plan but rather “what makes the most profit”. It’s disappointing that cutting corners is plainly seen as necessary, it’s no longer about making a profit but making the absolute most profit possible in the circumstances.

They could have kept manufacturing just their physical editions of games but that wasn’t enough, they had to increase profit margins with side merch which eventually flipped into even the releases themselves just being about margins. Why pay to have a niche 3DO pressed as a CD when we can just throw it on a CDR burn for it? It’s so much more profitable that way.

It just keeps getting more and more disappointing.

Phantasy star universe was pretty fun offline mmo for the story mode. like .hack series but more customizable for your main characters build to a degree. They still couldn't use race exclusive stuff but got a good portion for each of the 3 classes. I loved the hell out of just sniping monsters in it.

I wouldn't mind if they made another one of those. If they were smart they'd try to cash in on cross plat between phone pc and game consoles. Kinda like genshin did as that probably makes decent money while being free to play if they decide to go that route. Though the series does not have that many established characters so I'm not sure it could support a gacha.

I need to get around to finishing up the psp anime they made someday.

If you ordered Mario Kart 8 DX with all the DLC from VG+, make sure to check the back of the case to confirm you got the correct version:

Watched this entirely too long video on LRG. My takeaways:

1) Sell high demand games for March-September when customers seemingly have more cash. Games in the October-December quarter tend to sell the worst (holiday cash crunch) so may end up holding value better than others.

2) Even for numbered releases, they only have exclusive rights for a short time. Developers retain rights to have games reprinted after with other publishers. He said not very common.

3) They print hundreds of extra copies beyond the preorder amount to cover unforeseen circumstances. Those are eventually sold in store, at conventions, etc.

4) Admitted for a period they were selling anything and everything and it was bad. Said they are focused on quality now. “We need to sell games that people actually care about”

5) Mentioned he doesn’t care about anything after the sale. Later said luckily they hired someone that cares about shipping games out.

Pissed that Tomb Raider trilogy on sale with steelbook for $30. And here I am having ordered that collectors edition with the guns from LRG for the steelbook. Granted it is an alternative steelbook, but still. Still haven't received it and the price difference is insane.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Raiden NOVA looks like all they did was reuse Raiden V assets to make a new game. I think everything in the game was taken from Raiden V. What is weird is that Raiden V seems to have better graphics than NOVA. Looks like Moss put no effort into making this game. I love the Raiden series, but I think I will probably stay away from this.

The Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind Deluxe edition with steelbook is only $50 with $5 shipping direct from Atari!?!?

How can they afford to price it so low, haven’t they heard you can add at least $25-30 to the price when you throw in a steelbook?!?

Edit- I missed the trading cards, trading cards included with a video game release? The logistics for that must be truly mind boggling.

You also forgot there will probably be a Rita's Rewind Anniversary Edition and then a Complete Edition and probably another edition later too.

That's what I'm worried about. The Deluxe Edition looks cool, and I'd like to get it. During an AMA last month Digital Eclipse said there are no DLC plans, and I know this isn't dotemu, but I can't help but feel like there will be since other beat-em-ups in this vein, Shredder's Revenge and Streets of Rage 4, had significant DLC added.

I figure with these kinds of beatemups and fighting games and what not, if the base game is enough as is... I can likely just deal with not having the dlc built in. Like Shredder's Revenge had plenty of content as is. So I wasn't tempted at all to replace it. If I want the DLC, I'll just buy it digitally on sale later.

Wario64's post on this said this is expected to be released in standard retail. If so I would prefer to get it from Target with 5% off and free shipping, or BBY with the free shipping. Just glad its not being released by LRG where they charge crazy shipping rates now (used to be under $6 for 4 standard games, now its over $10).

VGP is buying games like any of us. Isn’t it the same as the old LRG way? First come, first served? People don’t get outraged at VGP for selling out because they’re just the reseller though.

VGP rarely sells out quickly, though. Persona and Grandia are the only examples I can think of. Everybody was freaking out about Lollipop Chainsaw for a while and they've still got plenty of copies on each platform.

I'm not saying VGP is getting special treatment, I just found it funny the marketing emails I got from VGA had games ready to ship and my updates from LRG were for delays.

VGP has gotten some items weeks to months before regular customer’s, they get ones that have long been gone, and they buy at cheaper rates. They are more a business partner at this point, so I’m not saying it’s special treatment, it’s a different relationship. They are not just buying games like the rest of us though. What would be the point of them buying and selling at the same price if that is what is going on?

I just want Pokemon Arceus with 003 revisions to come back in stock/available again at VGP.. I missed it the last couple times due to "fun" health problems distractions getting in the way of my actual problems of collecting too much stuffs ha

Trying to get the 004 Revisions for the Scarlet/Violet bundles myself... I had no business missing the 2nd round, but somehow I did 😒

I keep hearing about NS cart revisions and also learn there existed these revisions for older games, even dating back to the GC they were apparently very common (Melee apparently had a few). I still don't fully understand why these different revisions exist and why some are better than others.

I think they're just reprints with game patches included on cart so no downloads needed iirc

1. Bug fixes, dlc included, drm removed, removal of controversial or inappropriate content (ie Fire Temple song in Ocarina of Time or Hot Coffee in GTA San Andreas), any combination of reasons may lead to a revision update.

2. People seek them out because of completeness, having the odd version, speedrunners may use older revisioms due to trick possibilities or game manipulation (for example, I think the Famicom version of Mario 1 is "faster" than the NES version.)

I think in terms of current collectors, its mostly to have the most complete version on disc/cart or having a version that is future proof and doesn't require a patch to play or a portion of the game downloaded from the internet.

Edit: Revisions have been as common as the Atari in the 70's. The most commonly known revisions are the Greatest Hits types releases.

What was inappropriate about the fire temple song in ocarina of time?

Speaking of the original let's you fish using hover boots which I never knew at the time. I'm still mad I missed that because I sunk hours into fishing.

It wasn't inappropriate, but controversy came from it. The chanting in the song resembled a Muslim prayer and there was allegedly pushback by that community. In reality, Nintendo just has a strict no Religion policy so they removed it.

It’s a sample of an Islamic call to prayer chanting Allahu Akbar in repetition in a fire hellscape temple, with other Arabic prayers, some that translate to "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah." Of course Nintendo changed it for any number of reasons. A few years before 9/11, not good. At a minimum it’s cultural appropriation, the conspiracy theorists and jingoists can and did come up with what it was at its worst.

Well, got an email earlier today that Yakuza Kiwami, at least the Switch version, is delayed a month into April. Not a huge delay.
