Please note that I do undestand that not everyone is an LP fan and if you simply don't like their past music or their current single please refrain from flaming and move along. I've loved this band back since back when they were called Hybrid Theory and I still have the same passion for their music now as I did back then. Their new single is titled "What I've Done" and its from their forthcoming album "Minutes to Midnight" which will be released on Tuesday May 15th 2007. The video to "What I've done should be appearing on MTV and Fuse starting April 2nd, so keep an eye out.

I will be updating this post as more info is available. Enjoy!

I've heard the new album, and I can say it's definitely different for them I don't really like it but maybe it'll grow on me. Meteora is still one of my favorite rock/metalrap albums. They play a damn banjo on this album.

They're playing Bamboozle. That's just weird to me.

However, their lineup for Project Revolution is fucking awesome this year.
Thanks man, LP is one of my favorite bands.

Really digging the new single, too bad we don't get to hear Mike till the new cd comes out though

video is up on itunes(music video)

Been looking for a CD quality rip. Thanks a ton. You're my hero

FYI: I hear that Mike is in the backround vocals on this single. Since I didn't have a good quality song I didnt notice. I'll check it out now that I have a higher quality version.

JK, ill listen to thier new cd
Haha. Snatchin' up all the vulnerables, eh? Music stereotypes are fun.
If you like a band, fucking own it. Don't say, "Hey, guys. I like this band. Please don't make fun of me".
You sound a little too rebellious, you must like one of those "punk" bands.

Please give the OP and me a break - as a linkin park fan, I want to rock out in my room safe in the knowledge that noones going to pick on me for being a fan of safe, slickly-produced corporate music product.

Now if you'll excuse me - the Pussycat Dolls song just came up on Hot 99 FM

and the My Chem Romance and Dane Cook threads were even worse

Downloading the single now. I've always been a fan of theirs. Hope the new one is as good as previous CD's.

Wow, it's about time. I was wondering what was taking so long. I haven't listened to the new single yet, but I am curious since people say they are going in a new direction. I loved the old stuff, but it's good to see band evolve too. I am anxiously awaiting May 15th now.

The song isn't what I was expecting, but it was still catchy and sounded pretty cool, and I'm DL'ing it as I type.

Hybrid Theory was an awesome album, and Meteora was even better. Hopefully Minutes to Midnight (which already sounds like a cool album name) will blow my mind, as well.

For kicks, I tried to listen to/watch the video. So they're socially conscious. That's wonderful. Less 'wicka-wicka' than I disdainfully remember. Fine. But it's just so damned...bland. So "Pepsi Smash"-friendly. Not trying to provoke, just an observation. Is this what's passing for 'important' music these days? I'm out of the loop...and thankful, I guess?
All original members? I thought they broke up?
All original members. They never broke up, they just wanted to do special projects. Mike Shinoda went off to do Fort Minor, Joe Hanh did a short film, Chester Bennington started work on a solo album, some songs are finished album was supposed to release in May but not sure what the status on that is now, the other band mates, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, and Phoenix (Dave Farrell) were spending time with their families and some had kids.

Definetly has a different feel to it. The video reminds me of Rise Against videos, with the random shots of animals and destruction and poverty and the band singing in the middle of nowhere, not sure if thats good or bad yet, just different.

The video is bad. Just bad. The song is Linkin Park through and through. If you didn't like them before, it won't change your mind and vice versa.

I have to agree, they are, somewhat, socially conscious. Which I like(At least

they care about whats wrong with the world insted of just yelling about

whats wrong with themselves). What i didn't like about the video has how

they used the open-domain footage, it just didn't transitioned that good. It

kinda reminded me of that one Michael Jackson song that I can't recall where

the song is good but the images of the KKK made it less appealing. But,

hey, there only videos and I can't wait for the release of there new album.

Go LP!

They have been socially consious for years, they just don't really like to advertise that in their music. They have helped by creating the Music for Relief organization (http://www.musicforrelief.org/) and they constantly donate to Art Colleges, and other schools as well as other charities. Some of the band members went out to the area where the Tsunami hit a couple years ago and they were helping out by bringing over a bunch of school supplies (as well as in New Orleans) and generally helping with reconstruction and painting of the new buildings.

Well, you learn something everyday. Thanks Prime.

I used to be a big linkin park fan, and then I met Pantera/Tool and old school Metallica. ;)
Anyways, Hybrid Theory was one of my favorite albums, I sort of like Meteora, some of it is way too rappy for me, other not so much. I like how with this song they went away from the rappy stuff, but still didn't go back to the raw metalness of Hybrid Theory, and are now an incubus-clone. Which is sort of good, I will still listen to the album.

But wasn't LP good because it had rappyness?
Mike Shinoda went off to do Fort Minor
Question - fan of the Fort Minor stuff or no?

Anyone else buy the Xexcutioners album just for the song with Mike?

Yes, love FM and yes on the X-ecutioners album, bought it just for that one song.

Do you have the link for that song? "It's Going Down" was it?

Its extremely easy to see the Rick Rubin influence in the video and song.
I'm a fan of Fort Minor and I too bought The X-ecutioners CD for the one song.

One Perfect Something

This is the 3rd track I've heard, and I'm very excited, as they have all been great.
And this sounds like Fall Out Boy.

What was the 2nd track?

Also beware of fake songs that are popping up everywhere claiming that they're Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight. Just downloaded what I thought was the full album on a torrent site and boy was I dissappointed to find out it was some other band.

Linkin Park records have always been keept tight wrapped to avoid leaks on the internet, when meteora came out, people from the studio had a group of people placing a ton of fake songs on the torrents and from what I remember, Kazaa Lite to avoid people from getting the album or songs early. They had an interview on the radio yesterday morning where they state that Rick Rubin currently has the only CD copy and that he's physicially flying all over the world for people to hear it, he said he doesn't want to send copies to prevent early leaks.

That is definitely NOT Linkin Park. There is only one track available from the new album and that is "What I've Done".
But wasn't LP good because it had rappyness?
I wouldn't call what they doing "rapping". They're just talking fast and using simple rhyme schemes.

I did the same thing, and most likely got the same tracks of you.

I wasn't 100% sure if that was them or not, but that song is on wikipedia as "expected" for their album. (Yeah, it's Wiki...I know.) But it definitely doesn't sound like their usual stuff. (Meaning it probably is another fake.)

Well whatever you wanna call it, I just hope they have it in their new album. A

little "Just talking fast and using simple rhyme schemes" doesnt hurt, right?;)
