Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight - Free Online Concert w/MCR 8/22 1:30PT
But wasn't LP good because it had rappyness?
Yeah, but with the first album, I got the feeling that they were a nu-metal band, with some rap in the background to add some variety. A.K.A it was like 75% Metal/25% rap and with Meteora it was like 50rock/50rap, with the rock part being much lighter. I just really liked the heavier sound of the first album.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up "Reanimation" yet. Usually people that like rap better prefer that one. I can't say I ever disliked any of their songs :D

FM was also much better than LP (again, IMO). Then again, I do lean towards hip hop in general...
Well whatever you wanna call it, I just hope they have it in their new album. A

little "Just talking fast and using simple rhyme schemes" doesnt hurt, right?;)
When it's done by talentless hacks, it sure as hell does.
Shinoda is the best part of Linkin Park, and since he's not on here, it completely fails to be interesting.
You sure? I just heard him on the local rock station yesterday talking about how him and Rick Rubin produced the album... I heard the song too, it's pretty good. I've been a Linkin Park fan for a while.

I'm not into rap or anything but I did prefer Reanimation over regular hybrid theory. Also I loved Fort Minor, "Right Now" being my favorite track off that album

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to check that out today. Being a huge LP fan that I am, I really want to get the $99.99 bundle but fuck that price sucks.

I meant to say he's not providing vocals on the track himself, just Chesthair.

Oh yeah.. well whatever, as long as it sounds good.

was "Chesthair" a typo or an attempt at a poor joke?

Here's a little clip from one of their new songs "Given Up"

Wow! That's very different sounding. I wonder if there will be a lot of stylistic variety song to song, kinda like the Light Grenades album for Incubus.

I'm not really a fan of his vocals in that song.

I heard that a couple days ago. There was a link around to go to their site and make a ringtone from it. It also had a bit more of the song to it.

I remember seeing it on their Myspace profile. Go there if you want to find the link.

The more I hear What I've Done, the more I like it. I was a little scared the first time I heard new LP, but Given Up sounds bad ass, especially towards the end of that clip.
Hmmm...I've tried in both IE and Firefox, and I cannot get those to come up.
Hope this helps...

I think you should change "Given Up" to bad quality on your heading for it. I really could barely hear the song thru all the noise.

"No More Sorrow" sounds awesome.

One thing I'm saddened by is that it looks like Mike Shinoda is really taking a step back on the vocals. Oh well at least we still kinda have Fort Minor.

My bad...try this one:

From what I've read on LPtimes.com

This is taken from a German Magazine that reviewed the album:
The album is 45 minutes long.
"Wake" is 01:30 long. ("dark instrumental track")
"Given Up" has raw, heavy riffs.
"Bleed it Out" is one of the fastest tracks on MTM.
"Shadow of the Night" has guitar sound like U2, and the rythym is like Nine Ince Nail's "Closer".
"Valentine's Day" is the slowest track on MTM.
"The Little Things Give You Away" is 06:30 long.
"In Pieces" has a progressive guitar solo.
"In Between" is described as a rather boring song
The rest of the songs is rated from good to very good.
4 ballads, 2 hip-hop tracks and 4 heavy and aggressive tracks; over all the album is poppier

Looks like 2 Hip Hop tracks...although not enough of Mike's rapping, he will be providing vocals on other songs by singing or backround vocals and like you said, there's always FM!

God, I want to play some Yu-Gi Oh and drink some Mountain Dew now.

In all seriousness, considering these guys get as much backlash and bad press and critique as Creed, I'm impressed they're still around and going strong.

damn that's so awesome, im so excited for the new album, can't wait

Found this on wikipedia:
"This will be the first Linkin Park album where Mike Shinoda sings lead vocals for a full length track ("In Between"), rather than rapping."

"Mike Shinoda will perform rap vocals on only two tracks this time, "Bleed It Out" and "Hands Held High". This is a significant decrease compared to previous albums. Mike claimed, "If I was gonna rap, it had to be great, it couldn't just be there for the sake of putting it in." The rap vocals on the album are reportedly much closer styled to Mike Shinoda's side project Fort Minor than his tradional Linkin Park verses."

You got a problem with people who drink Mountain Dew & listen to LP as they play Yu-Gi-Oh? :D

So far everything I heard of M2M sounds pretty awesome. I like the level of variety between all of the tracks, while still having that LP sound. Can't wait for it to hit.

I used to listen to LP way back in 8th grade, but then I realized they suck and made a break to escape the corporate diarhea assembly line. If I hadn't discovered Morrissey and Marr, who truly opened my ears to the world of real music, I'd probably be headbanging to My Chemical Romance and Senses Fail. That being said, Re-animation still holds up pretty well, and I'll most likely give their new album a listen. Thank god for OiNK.

So far, I like the first half of the CD, its a little different from their old stuff but good different. The second half of the CD is slower, its basically ballads...takes time getting used to but I'll grow to like it. Personally I don't see anything wrong with them sticking to what they did in the past. Some fans maybe disapointed with the new sound, but bands always need to try to branch out to grow as band and as musicians.

Fez, you're so alternative. ;)

Also, thanks for the update LP. Hope Linkin Park can remind me why I listened, and loved, Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

Love it, felt like it needed one more fast paced song since the latter half of the album is indeed ballad full. I'm sure there are some great b-sides

I love Linkin Park, but I had no idea they were coming out with a new album. Then again, I don't really follow anything music related.

Come this Tuesday though, the album shall be mine.

Hybrid Theory ftw!

I sure hope so. After all, they stated that they wrote over 100 songs and everytime a song sounded similar to their old stuff, Rick Rubin told them to scrap it and start over. Mike and Brad stated that they have a hard drive with all of those songs that didnt make the album. Maybe we can get a MTM B-sides album a few months later :D
IMHO...I find Linkin Park nostalgic...and its that good kind of nostalgic...
Your username does not match your musical taste. REPENT!!!!

I am loving it.

Sure, I kinda wanted all rock songs like Meteora, but even the slower stuff is good.

Figured it would take some time to grow on me, but after one complete playthrough, I already love it.

Not up with Meteora and Hybrid, but a damn good album nonetheless.

Thanks Linkin, the Given Up video is on there too, just watched it. Chester can really scream and hold it out for a long time as well.

Just checked out the Given Up vid. Damn, he actually screams that long live, I thought for sure that the screaming on the CD version was edited to make it seem longer. Whoa, they never fail to impress.

EDIT: Anyone know of a (Free) program that rips the audio out of the video. I want to have these as just mp3 live songs.
