Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight - Free Online Concert w/MCR 8/22 1:30PT

Just checked out the Given Up vid. Damn, he actually screams that long live, I thought for sure that the screaming on the CD version was edited to make it seem longer. Whoa, they never fail to impress.

Screaming for a long time rocks!!!!1

I used to listen to LP way back in 8th grade, but then I realized they suck and made a break to escape the corporate diarhea assembly line. If I hadn't discovered Morrissey and Marr, who truly opened my ears to the world of real music, I'd probably be headbanging to My Chemical Romance and Senses Fail. That being said, Re-animation still holds up pretty well, and I'll most likely give their new album a listen. Thank god for OiNK.

Ohh, a real music fan!
Going to see Morrissey on the 26th at the Backyard?
I'm probably going to all 3 Texas dates.

I like LP but didn't like the new cd. Not enough Mike Shinoda for my tastes and whats with the song where he's singing? I'll stick with Fort Minor.

I'm sure it will be a success, but it just didn't do too much for me. I've been a fan from before Hybrid Theory got big, but this album really didn't do all that much for me. I'll blame it on being to slow and ballad-oriented. Personally, I'm putting this one below Reanimation as far as my personal preference.

A legit copy of Minutes to Midnight has been leaked.. there was a fake copy floating around for the longest time. This may be old news, I dunno, but I heard the fake version and it sucked.. I haven't heard the real thing yet. The fake version had slooooow songs though.. I thought it was real at first, it was bad.

 I don't know what the hell is wrong with you, but yes, I play drums and I'm in two bands. Even if I didn't play an instrument, I'd still judge music, because, you know, that's what humans do: judge things. What I posted is just my opinion. I didn't attack anyone who likes LP, I just said they were a passing fad for me. Does that really deserve all the theatrics and hostility in your post? I even said I still enjoy Re-animation, and I did give the new album a listen through. Didn't do it for me. So let's act like grown-ups, agree to disagree, and never speak of this again.

Somebody at a different forum summed up the reason I hate this excuse perfectly.
Let's extrapolate this line of logic a bit:

Waiter: Sir, unfortunately, we're out of roast beef. But I've instead brought you our specialty, a shit sandwich.
Customer: But... but... I don't want to eat a shit sandwich.
Waiter: Well, unless you're a qualified chef, I don't think you have the credentials to make that sort of decision.
Customer: Are you implying that I need to be able to CREATE food to determine whether or not I want to eat it? This is SHIT. I know shit when I see it, and I don't want to put it in my mouth.
Waiter: That is exactly what I am implying, sir. As somebody with no ability in the 'food-making' department, you have no right to criticize. Now eat the shit sandwich or go home.

Airplane PA: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. I'm drunk as fuck and just did three eightballs off of the naked ass of our head flight attendant here and will probably spend most of the flight passed out or shaking with anxiety. However, I doubt any of you can fly this plane, so shut your mouths and enjoy the ride, suckers.

That was truely funny. That post made my day.

Anyway. Mr. Anderson. I am man enough to apologize over the interweb. I took your post way out of context (but still feel not to far) I tend to burst into rants first then make coherent statements afterwards.......afterall I am american. But the way you come off in your post is the same way hundred of thousands of kids come off when discussing music. "My music is better than yours simply beause I listen to it."

Now yes i did note that you said you like re-animation and gave this album a run through but you stil come off as just another guy implying that whatever I (I use "I" here as a general statement.....to actually partaining to me) listen to is "not real music" with no real reason other than.....its not the music you like.

Saying....I used to like LP when back when I was a stupid 5 year old but sense then I grew up and a found "real" music. Makes it seem like another person saying that everything that dont like sucks ass and that who ever listens to it is a douche for their choice.

Anyway....sorry for the outburst...one of these days I have got to learn to control that.

These are my top Favorites in no particular order...followed by the rest of the CD...I loved it all.

No More Sorrow
Bleed it Out
Given Up
What I've Done

Given Up
Bleed it Out
What I've Done
Hands Held High
No More Sorrow
In Between

Those are my top favorites, with the ones in bold being the best. I really liked every track though. My least favorite was probably Valentine's Day.

Bleed It Out is my favorite

I like all the tracks but the other notables are:
Given Up
No More Sorrow
What I've Done
The Little Things Give You Away

Linkin Park on Saturday Night Live this week, I'm gonna try my best not to forget about it.

No harm, no foul. :D

Pretty disappointing if you ask me. It may grow on me but personally it feels like this album isn't even Linkin Park. Where the hell is Shinoda?! The album is far from terrible but still not as good as I was expecting. Leave Out All The Rest is my personal fav so far.
Bleed It Out >>> rest of cd
Totally agree, not a huge fan of this album - interest has pretty much gone downhill since Meteora, but all around it's not that bad.

Projekt Revolution just sounds amazing. LP/HIM on the mainstage and then an equal (if not more) appealing sidestage of MSI/Saosin/Styles of Beyond. Might have to check it out!
Awesome! Where did you get it from? Last time I ordered from the Linkin Park website I got it a day early.
I got it from logo shop I mentioned back earlier in the thread.

The Making of documentary for Minutes to Midnight is awesome. It's as good if not better than the one they had for Meteora.

I was pretty disappointed with this cd, but ive been traveling the last couple of days and the cd has really been growing on me.
Just watched em on SNL. They did What I've Done and Bleed It Out. What I've Done was ok but Bleed It Out was kick ass.
I still got an hour an a half till it starts here. Did any of them do any skits on the show or just live music?

Just live music I believe.

Best Buy doesn't do CD pre-orders at the store. So I guess i'm just going to have to head down to BB or CC on Tuesday and pick it up.

Listened to the entire CD, and I absolutely love it. Its certainly not the Linkin Park of old, but that's fine. I love the slower songs.

I can't wait. Gonna pick up the normal CD and the special edition CD/MVI. Is there a DVD version or something?

 • Making Of "What I've Done" music video

 • Plus toolkit with photo gallery, screensavers, lyrics and more

I thought that made 3 different versions of Minutes to Midnight (not counting the clean versions), but I did a little more research and it seems that the DVD and MVI versions are the same. Just that some places are using MVI instead of DVD. Confusing, as the DVD itself is the MVI.

Anyway, gonna go to Circuit City instead and pick it up. I thought the DVD version was Best Buy exclusive, but CC has it advertised. Not to mention that the normal CD is also cheaper at CC than BB.

Haha LinkinPrime, the last post was copy and paste, but it seemed like an advertisement. You don't have to advertise to me, I've been sold since... well... the beginning. Heh. Thanks for the info though.

Any retailer-exclusive deals we should be aware of? These days I'm always paranoid that I'm gonna buy a new CD, then find it at a different store with extra bonus tracks or something. Damn record companies for making me afraid to buy music. :whistle2:(

EDIT: I think that the MVI/CD edition is the same as the CD/DVD edition...not sure why they have different prices at different stores though. Just a heads up.

Thanks LinkinPrime. I guess as long as the core CD is the same at all locations, I'll just grab the CC ad and pricematch at whichever store is most convenient.

Also forgot to mention, that if you pre-order from itunes, you get 2 exclusive tracks. Not sure what they are but I've heard that one of them is a Mike Shinoda song that got cut from the album. I don't get itunes so if any of you out ther get it, let us know how the 2 exclusives are. Not sure if this is only for preorder or if it will be available for purchase later.

People are speculating that the tracks will be "No Roads Left But One" and "Grecian". They don't get released till tommorow since that is the official date the album comes out. It will surely leak soon after it goes live. I'll try to find it tonight.

Just came back from Linkin Park Live in New York concert at the movie theaters. It was awesome, they had a special behind the scenes of MTM, showing how they came up with the idea for certain songs. It was awesome, gives you a bigger understanding for the album, I now have a deeper respect for them.

Here's an example:
For Given up, Chester screamed for a few seconds, the band was impressed, they asked Chester if it was edited, he said no...they asked if that's the longest scream he's recorded, he took that as a challange and said he can go longer. The scream is 18 seconds long, they had to re-write most of the song around the scream and built the bridge around it.

dastly75, if you find those songs, hook it up...I'll do the same if I get them first.

Apparently one of the bonus tracks is a live version of "What I've Done"

but "No Roads Left" is the other.

Man is it good , Mike Shinoda can sing! This is the best representation of his singing ability. I don't know why the song didn't make the album. It is really good. Anyways I uploaded it to sendspace: http://www.sendspace.com/file/c91x6b

lyrics: http://whativedone.net/noroadsleft.html

-----

Alternate music video to "What I've Done", after the site loads, click watch on the right side: http://minutestomidnight.com.au/

How "explicit" is this album? It would sound kinda forced if LP started saying "fuck" in every song. Although, these days you can probably get a parental warning just for talking about guns.

They say the word fuck and/or fuckING, i'd say about 5-10x on the album on 2 or 3 songs. That's it.

What exactly is the MVI "full 24 bit stereo" for better sound quality? Is there really a difference? Is it an audio DVD or something? So confused......

I will be picking up some form of this album after work.

It is a DVD audio. Here's the info:

MVI DVD includes downloadable MP3s for all tracks; the "What I've Done" video; "Making Of" videos of Minutes To Midnight and "What I've Done"; a "What I've Done" ringtone; a photo gallery, booklet in PDF, screensavers, lyrics and more.

haha, those pre-encoded MP3s creep me out. I feel like it must be a trap of some sort.

It's kind of ridiculous how many different editions there are for this, but at least they're being up-front about it and releasing them all at the same time (rather than trying to pull a sneaky multi-dip).

The pre-encoded MP3's are simply there so that you don't have to rip the CD and load the MP3's to your hard drive or mp3 player, they have already done that for you all you gotta do is load them.

Not too many. A few "fucks" are what got it the PA. (Given Up, Bleed It Out, once in Hands Held High.)

Picked up my copy at K-Mart earlier. ($9.99) It's the only place in our small town that has PA CD's.

Couldn't pick up the DVD, though I really wanted to. I'm just a cheapass.
