Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
I appreciate the opportunity to play in this league.

3 seperate 3rd and short conversions, quarterback sneak.

4th and inches, 2nd quarter, tie game, person on their own 28 yard line.

Play call? Quarterback sneak. A Peyton Manning.... Quarterback sneak.

I cannot remember, but I am pretty sure there was another 4th down attempt play called in their own territory with the score tied.

95% of every snap I take, the SAME linebacker, is in my face practically as I just take the ball from the center. Nano'ing? No idea, but it sure as hell felt like it.

It could be sour grapes, or whatever the hell you want to call it, or maybe I came here to play to escape exactly that sort of play.

Good game I guess, Colts.

Im out, though. I am angry enough in my day to day life without being angry in my little amount of free time, as well.
I don't feel the need to explain myself because I've already played quite a few of you in this league, and I've had no complaints/we've all had fun... but you know what? I'm going to anyway.

No, the "SAME linebacker" was not in your face, I sent different LBs on different 4-3 formations/plays and each time a different player -- be it Session, Mathis, Freeney or one of my DTs -- got to you and interrupted your play. It's what coaches do (ie. Eagles D) Learn to audible your HB to BLOCK, or pick a play where he's blocking for you. Don't cry to me and accuse me of playing like some leet hacksauce nano douchebag because you don't know how to play the game of football.

As for my QB sneaks, considering its "and inches" and QB Sneak gets you roughly a half yard on each dive, I used it, and got my first down. It's been stopped numerous times -- move the line over. Pinch your D-Line. DO SOMETHING except cry about it and claim I'm playing like a "fucking douchebag".

I'd prefer it if you didn't quit the league, and I'd rather patch things over with you -- 'cause I'm not the type of guy to leave loose (jagged, even) ends.
Well, it's unfortunate that this happened the way it did. I'm not going to address much since it seems OCD is taking himself out the league, BUT I do think people are taking too many liberties with 4th down. The Chiefs told me the Colts went for it a number of times (I didn't get the specifics), now we're seeing the same thing in this game. I do not really think 4th and 6th really anywhere is something people should be going for unless they are down by multiple touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Definitely shouldn't be going for it if you're up, especially by multiple scores.

I really don't know how to properly police nano blitzing or even how to differentiate regular blitzing with your LB and nano blitzing. Everyone should know that nano blitzing is NOT allowed. Some people don't realize they are doing it, or consider what they are doing not nano blitzing, but maybe we need to set up some hard rules. It really should be common sense that if you're getting to the QB within seconds without so much as a offensive lineman looking in your direction that you're pulling some bullshit. So let's be smart about this and use your own discretion in the meantime.

Besides all that, no one should be quitting early or cussing out their opponents no matter what they are doing. The best thing to do would be to stick with the game, capture replays and explain your experience plus the videos into discussion here. I hope that it doesn't have to come to that, but I think that is probably the best way to handle it moving forward. If someone is truly breaking the rules of the league (most importantly, respect and sportsmanship) then they will be the one on the way out. Not saying that this is the case with the Colts here, but no one should feel that this league isn't what they signed up for and have to quit because of it.
I went for it "a number of times" against the Chiefs?? Wow, that's bullshit and a half. I was never in a position to where I needed to go for it, as I was up by at least 2 scores throughout the game.

Don't take it too personally. It was twice, apparently. I didn't bring it up because I assumed they were legit, but after I saw these new complaints I was going to bring it up in PM. Regretfully I brought it up here and couldn't edit my post because CAG decided to stop working for me AGAIN (anyone else having these issues throughout the day?).

ANYWAYS, the Redskins now appear to be open. Let's just use this as a friendly reminder to not be a jerk to one another. Please be smart AND respectful about going for it on 4th down. As far as "nano blitzing" goes, I really don't even know what to say or do. Because someone just getting beat can scream "nano" and I don't want it to get to that. If anyone has an issue with this again (I don't think we will), get video evidence so we can actually discuss what you're seeing.

oops double post, this is when CAG was down for me, I must've snuck this post in haha.

Argh... CAG was down forever. Played this game 11 hours ago.

Dolphins 28, Packers 21

First game disconnected in the 3rd. This was what showed up on my screen:

1020212h.jpg

He was winning after capitalizing on a couple turnovers. I had just gotten an interception, and then we lost connection. We were still connected to the EA servers, still showing on the friend list as being in-game, etc. Threw on the mic and tried party chat and private chat. He could hear me; I couldn't hear him. I could hear him fine in the voice message he sent me. I felt bad because he was up by a couple scores and lost all that progress toward a win.

But he beat me in the second game, so it worked out fine for him. He didn't complain one bit about the lost connection, either. Much respect. I must mention that I was a bit put off by him running plays after he intercepted me as I neared the end zone for the potential tying touchdown. There was maybe a minute left in the game, but he didn't take the knee, instead running a few plays and even calling a timeout But that's a minor complaint, and I'm not trying to paint him in a negative light since he played well, and he's a very nice, good guy who I respect.

Good game(s), Adam. I'm requesting a rematch, if you're willing. Our availability schedules match up well, and we're friends on Live and Facebook, so that should be easy to set up. :)

EDIT: I was hesitant to do this before, but since others have posted alternate means of contact, I'll post my Facebook URL. I have Venom, siradam, and Hydro as friends on there already. You guys can send a friend request if you want, or just a message. Bottom line, it's the best way to contact me online- even more so than CAG. I do usually check CAG daily, but sometimes shit happens, like the site being down for a whole night, heh. Ubernes, please add this to my contact info in the OP, if you don't mind: http://www.facebook.com/matthewrobertyoung

Raiders over 49ers 41 to 10 good game doom, I had a rough start trailing after Nate Davis threw the pick six on a ball I tried the throw away, from then on it was rough trying to play catch up against a player of your caliber. With that said Nate Davis is officially done with my team at least as a qb we may hire him is a gatorade coach to make sure the bevrage team keeps drinks at the right temp. Nate Davis over threw some key passes in my attempt at a comeback. HYDRO your offer seems to be the most enticing and lucrative I am going to take a serious look at my team and probably work something out with either you the panthers or the newly available bradford. Ill keep you posted. Again good game Doom your offense kept me on my toes I wish I wouldn't have fell behind early and had to resort to five wides , that's not really my game, lol if you want to scrimmage sometimes just let me know, since we can only meet again in the superbowl.

Saints Owner, When do you want to play? Did you get my XBL message? im available after 630 EST most days. please respond ASAP.

I seriously have no idea how I have gotten so piss poor at this game.

In response to Mr. Grand - I think I'll keep Berry, he's the only player on my defense making any type of plays.

In response to Hydro - Whether or not you went for it on 4th down really didn't matter because you beat me pretty easily. But you did go for it twice, leading the game, in the first half. Both 4th and 1's. And you said before that you "were in no position where you needed to go for it" Just an observation. I am not going to leave the league because of it obviously.

In response to my last game vs. the Texans. He beat me up pretty good. I have having shitty ass lag issues most of the game, I wonder if he was too. Regardless. Texans 41 - Chiefs 14.

Texans 41
Chiefs 14

GG... Get Abollished, my gameplan going in was to get the ball to Andre Johnson early and often but it turned into a ground and pound clock killer....Houston moves to 4-2 going into the bye week.

I didn't have anything out of the ordinary...hardly any lag...I had one extended pause, but not much else to speak of...

Yeah GG Cru. Nate Davis had quite a few wild throws and the first play of the game was a very odd pick 6.

The Raiders came into the game looking to establish the run and were able to do just that as McFadden had 12 attempts for 113 yards and one score. (And 2 fumbles :bomb:) Through the air, Campbell was 6 of 10 for 125 yards and 1 TD. Jacoby Ford took notes during Tedd Ginn's highlight reel and it paid off as he returned one punt for 93 yards and the touchdown.

However, this game was mostly about the amount of opportunities Oakland was given by Nate Davis. Davis went 11 of 35 for 176 yards and 5 interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Tedd Ginn was also held to a 22 yard kick return average on 8 attempts.

Much respect Cru. You're having a great season without a solid quarterback. Had Vernon Davis been around, this would have been a different game.

Oye, played this game over 13 hours ago.....couldn't post until now.

Well, After playing Matt for the 2nd time...i got a win.

The first time i was up 27-3 End of the 3rd quarter.....RIGHT as i threw an interception into one of his linebackers hands we disconnected..... Stupid Xbox Live. So we agreed to play again. Unfortunately, matt's defense showed up for the 2nd game ;(

Week 6: Dolphins @ Packers
Dolphins:28
Packers:21

Miami's Defense: 1 Interception, 2 Sacks
Miami's Offense: 179 Yards Passing, 2 TD / 181 Yards Rushing, 2 TD

Packers Defense: 1 Interception
Packers Offense: 311 Yards Passing, 3 TD / 54 Rushing Yards

Injuries:

Dolphins: None
Packers:
SS Atari Bigby, Broken Jaw- 2 Weeks
TE Jermichael Finley, Broken Collarbone- 8 weeks

To sum up the Game's ending: I was freaking out at the half after being down 14-7, thinking after having such a big lead in game 1, that i'm now getting my butt spanked in game 2. I finally turned around my offense, got some good plays in and got the score tied up in quarter 3. the 4th quarter was...interesting to say the least...with about 1:18 left in the 4th quarter and up by a touchdown, i kick the ball off (what appeared to be straight).....and we had a 13mph crosswind....the ball went out of bounds, which gave it to him on the 40. (FRAK!!) So i'm thinking..no problems...he's only got 1:18 left...a little bit of manning up by my defense and i've got this game! First Play (I can't remember the slot receiver) but he gets a beautiful slant route over the middle to what appeared to be my 11...or 9 yard line. (FREER%^*%^*%*%^*) Now i'm getting worried, because he's running the clock down....and he's in position to score and win the freaking game....thankfully my defense comes up strong....it's now 4th and 3? ....and The MVP of the game, Vontae Davis steps in and gets an interception to seal the game for the Dolphins. (CRAZY ENDING...i was freaking out about the 4th and short....so many options for you to get a touchdown on that damn play.)

Matt, sorry about not taking the knee on the final plays of the game...i played 3 guys that afternoon online and was winning in 2 of the games....4th quarter, 1:30 to go roughly....and in BOTH online unranked games the freaking game disconnected when i called the "take a knee" play.....i was freaking out and did NOT want to get it again.. (i wouldn't have taken it to the endzone, i can guarantee you that. i respect you too much for that one.)

Btw, i tried 3 different types of Xbox headsets trying to talk to you....i could talk fine (my mic would blink with me alone in the party chat while i was talking, meaning it was capturing voice) but as SOON as you joined....my mic wouldn't pick up my voice anymore..fuck

Anyways,

Good Game Mr. Matt Young!

Nice response doom , I appreciate the respect especially after I talked trash and got smashed lol. I also feel as though this loss has made me extra hungry to get to the superbowl for a chance to redeem myself.

As far as I'm concerned, going for it on 4th and anything in your own territory is weak sauce unless you're trailing late in the game. 4th and 1 from your own 28 or whatever, just because you CAN convert it doesn't mean you should try. Similarly, 4th and 6 from your opponents 46 or something, that's a punt. Especially in a tie game. Ubernes is exactly right, people are taking far too many liberties with 4th down. Every time someone does it, it moves us further away from the objective of the league which is to play this like it was real football, and moreover to have fun. Example: Stopping your opponent on a big tackle inches short to force a 3 and out in their own territory: Fun. Having them line up and sneak it through: Not fun.

As for Nano blitzing, it goes without saying anyone doing that should get one warning and then get booted. Not everyone can tell the difference of course, but I know when I'm being nano'd (no one I've ever played in 2 years in this league has tried, btw) and I'll definitely say something.

No problem, I knew the game would be different without Vernon Davis. The guy is tough to stop. Good luck on the rest of your season. Any talks on a new quarterback?

I'm very inclined to agree with this. You should be playing pretty similar to how an actual coach would treat fourth down.
Any space left in this league?
You'll be #1 on the waiting list since the Redskins became available and the other guy will be snagging them. I'll keep you in the loop if you would like.

:applause:

All valid points. I don't think you'll find any coaches going for it for 4th and 1, 4th and inches in their own territory especially in the 1st half. Too much of a game changer. Maybe we should point out very specific situations that aren't "down by 2 scores in the 4th quarter" where going for it on 4th down would be acceptable. Just so people know exactly what we're talking about.

Here's the remaining games on the week 6 schedule:

Browns vs Steelers (playing tonight)
Bucs vs Saints (Bucs available after 6:30pm EST most days, waiting to hear from Saints)
Ravens vs Pats (Pats picking up new Xbox today, I assume the game will be played today or tomorrow)
Falcons vs Eagles (Eagles getting new Internet today, hopefully they can get their game in tonight then)

ugh, and the Jags played vs the CPU.... dude, I told you Venom was taking over that team Wed/Thurs as soon as we advanced into this week, what happened?

I don't suppose there's any way you can void out the game and have it re-played? I agree that's not really fair to Venom.

Moreover, I believe every other team in what's looking like an EXTREMELY competitive AFC would agree that it is not cool for them to be essentially spotting themselves a win at this point in the season.
I don't suppose there's any way you can void out the game and have it re-played? I agree that's not really fair to Venom.
Venom was already 0-5 too, so 0-6 hurts. I don't think there's a way to void out played games though, unfortunately.
Venom was already 0-5 too, so 0-6 hurts. I don't think there's a way to void out played games though, unfortunately.
This is a full league. NO ONE should be playing the CPU on any week unless they were specifically told to by that week's opponent or the commish. Even if a team is vacant, everyone knows we have a waiting list.

Obviously there's no way to make this right for Venom, but I would say that a fair solution would be a 1 week boot so that someone else plays vs. the CPU (I believe the Jags' next opponent is the Chiefs).

EDIT: OR, when the teams meet again in Week 13, Venom gets to play the CPU. That would also work.

OK, well last night I dont know but was I the only one who couldnt't log onto CAG? I was on live, and UB sent me a message to get my game done ASAP. When I loged onto the online franchise, it slotted my Jags vs. the CPU's Titans. So i played the game

I don't think it was done maliciously, but to even the odds if Venom wants then maybe we can do as you're suggesting, bv. Titans get to play the CPU Jags in Week 13, if Venom would even want that. We'll figure that out when we get to Week 13 though.

I did message everyone on XBL who didn't play their games yesterday with a reminder that CAG was down, but to still stay on top of your games and play them asap. I guess I could've been more specific for certain people, but everyone should have a general idea of who they are playing and when 2 days into the week.

No, CAG was down last night. But it was extensively discussed in this thread earlier that Venom was taking over the Titans.

Still, there should be an assumption here that no one is playing a game vs the CPU unless specifically told to by the commish. Are you talking about the same general message he sends to everyone, or did he specifically tell you to play that game?

Edit: Obviously I don't think it was done maliciously either, it seems like an honest misunderstanding. It's still not fair to Venom or to the other teams in the AFC however.
I'm thinking of making a league rattling trade for peyton manning lol
I'll be waiting for an offer. As time goes on I'm getting more and more acquainted with him.

I may need to make a trade for Vick though, so I can convert even more 4th downs than I'm being accused of. 4th and 26, here I come! (absolute sarcasm, btw)

Finished all the Madden Moments yesterday when I was home sick. Most of them were very fun and not too tough, though the last one sucked. Needing to score on the 1st play and then recover the onside kick and then score again would have taken forever. I tried it about 15 times, and even though I can usually recover onside kicks pretty well, I just couldn't get it. I ended up doing it the cheap way, I figured since I spent all those hours beating them I wasn't going to be cheated out of my 100G. :D

so looking at the remaining games we may be advancing sometime tonight. If Eagles/Falcons go down tonight without a hitch. And the Saints agree that tonight works for him too vs the Bucs. Browns/Steelers playing tonight for sure. And I know the Ravens and Pats are itching to play each other.

looking good. let's just hope it works out and we can advance a day early.

Browns/Steelers is happening at 6-7 PST, so if all these games do get in then we'd probably be looking at 10-11pm EST advancement at the earliest.

Might as well mix it up with some real football talk:

So ubernes, I don't know if you'll be happy to hear this or consider it a jinx, but I finally sat down and made my predictions for the NFL this year and I picked your Jets to win the division over my Pats.. While I think the difference between Brady and Sanchez will keep it close, the Jets have such an overwhelming advantage on defense that I think they have to be the favorites. Losing Warren and Bodden for the season is especially tough, since our defense was questionable enough as is. Certainly there's lots of talent in the secondary, but I don't know if Butler/McCourty are ready for prime time yet (leaning towards not). We've still got talent in the likes of Meriweather, Mayo, and Wilfork, but nothing compared to what the Jets have all over the field.

That said, I hope I'm wrong.

I've got Pacer this Week, I've got nothing planned really till the weekend I'm supposed to have a party. But other than that not much is going on. So hit me up on Live/Facebook/Aim.

I don't care who wins the division as long as it's not the Jets.

Bias aside, I obviously agree. The Jets can go as far as Sanchez will allow them to. Besides that I don't see any major weakness in this team unless Revis holds out for the year, which I seriously doubt, and even then the secondary is still pretty good. Of course, being weak at QB is nothing to sneeze at. The whole season pretty much rests on Sanchez's shoulders.

My other predictions...

AFC

The Ravens will take the North, but barely. The Bengals will snag the 1st wild card as runner ups to the North. Colts take the South, but not as easily as one might think. Texans will put up a fight, probably fall short, but will sneak away with the last wild card spot, probably leaving the Pats on the outside. The West is a crapshoot imo. I think we're going to see a 9-7 team win that division. I made the bold prediction a couple weeks ago that it would be the Raiders. I don't feel as strongly about it as I once did, but I'll stick to my guns and say they win the division at 9-7 or 8-8.

NFC
I think the Cowboys, Packers and Niners are all locks for their respective divisions. I don't think the Saints will repeat their magical run from last year and the Falcons we're 9-7 without Turner for part of the season and Ryan going through some major growing pains, the Falcons should win the division. Eagles and Vikings as the wild cards. I kind of like the Bears too, despite their terrible preseason. If they snap out of it, I could see them fighting for a wild card spot at least until the last couple weeks of the season. I could also see them having a worse record than the Lions too haha, so I would not bet on the Bears.
I'd be willing to bet that the Dolphins finish ahead of the Jets and the Pats...
I'd take that bet. I actually think it's very possible all three of them will make the playoffs, but I don't see anything which would make me put the Dolphins above the other two.
I'm stuck on that madden moment, what the heck can I do?
It's pretty cheap, but then so is the moment itself: Score the TD, and then instead of onside kicking, kick it long. Stop the first run and then call a timeout. The Saints will call QB Kneel, but if you come out in a FG block formation they will audible to a pass. You can then audible into Cover 2 or 3 and either get a pick or an incomplete. From there you should be able to score. It's not a guarantee, but I tried the legit way about 15 times and managed to win the moment on my 2nd try doing it this way, so there you have it.
I made the bold prediction a couple weeks ago that it would be the Raiders. I don't feel as strongly about it as I once did, but I'll stick to my guns and say they win the division at 9-7 or 8-8.
You basically described the worst possible scenario for the Patriots, since they own the Raiders first round draft pick. Obviously I'm hoping Campbell implodes and it's a high pick. But then of course if it is, Belichick will just trade it (as he does). :D

The rest of my picks:

AFC
East - Jets
North - Ravens
West - Chargers
South - Colts
Wildcards - Pats, Texans

NFC
East - Cowboys
North - Packers
West - Niners
South - Saints
Wildcards - Falcons, Vikings

You're probably right on the Chargers. But for some reason I don't like them at all this year and think whoever does win it will be limping in at 9-7, at best. Can't blame you for not taking the Eagles either, but also for some reason I don't like the Saints. I guess they should at least get a wild card spot, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants or Panthers grab it (if the Eagles don't).
I'd be willing to bet that the Dolphins finish ahead of the Jets and the Pats...
+1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1

:) (unfortunately, the real life dolphins aren't nearly as... "overachieving" as the CAG Dolphins are...sadly..)

My picks:

AFC
North - Ravens
South - Colts
East - Dolphins
West - Raiders
Wild Cards: Pats, Chargers

NFC:
North - Vikings
South - Falcons
East - Cowboys
West - 49ers
Wild Cards: Redskins, Packers
