Madden 13 Official CAG League - On Hiatus. See you in August for Madden 25!
Champ+Haden+Porter is pretty dangerous not going to lie. Hope people can run.
My front 7 is no slouch either. If you can get to the safeties though, you'll be fine. :D

Porter has great ball skills, but he's left a bit to be desired as an outside corner. Moving him to the slot will be nice.

I'm definitely taking a risk moving on from Manning, since he has been good for me so far, but I want to get the ball rolling on developing Osweiler. Weeden rides the pine, where he belongs.

The thing that makes Osweiler such a great Madden project player is that he already has 80 plus in all his accuracies and 95 TP. It really speeds up the development process having such high ratings in the important stuff.

Edit: It's also what makes it so rough for everybody else trying to bring up a lot of young qb's. Most of them are good short acc or deep but rarely middle and both short and deep.

I am not unaware of this. ;)

I've been shopping Manning for a few weeks (as you know, since we talked about him too), so I've been practicing quite a bit with Osweiler. I'm pretty confident that he can play well enough to remain competitive while he's developing (as opposed to being a pure project).

Yeah you're definitely on the lucky side. Skelton is an ok qb prospect, he has the TP but both his medium and deep accuracies arn't up to snuff. Definitely leaves me with some head scratching throws once in a while.
Welcome back!

Pick up 2k13, may be starting a league later this week.
I'm deciding between FIFA and 2k now. Though, I was hoping something great was on the horizon that I could just preorder now with this extra Amazon credit I have--doesn't look like it though.

Is everyone planning to start a 2K13 league? First me, then Cru with fantasy, and now Doomtime. Perhaps we could consolidate our efforts...

Well shoot if you guys want to collaborate, I'm all in. I love this game and I really, REALLY hated 2K12.

I'll make a new thread later today, but I'm still looking at other leagues to see what kind of rules they implement. Sim style ball, fantasy draft, 6 or 7 minute quarters.

Anyone in this league is more than welcome to join when we get set up.

Just played my best game since being in the league. Final score was 31-6 Arizona over Minnesota. I allowed a total of 68 yards and held Blade to -1 yards rushing. The one negative for me in this game was the amount of penalties called on me. I had about 3 giant holding calls called on me, 2 on big 20 yard runs and another that wiped out a long td. I had the unnecessary roughness penalty called on hitting a punt returner as well, but the DB pushed me into him. I didn't expect EA would get that correct.

Stats-
Minnesota Vikings-

Christian Ponder- 13.2 qb rating, 7/18, 79 yards, 0td, 2int(with about 8 dropped)
Adrian Peterson- 11 rushes for 5 yards
John Carlson- 1 rec for 26 yards
Percy Harvin- 3 rec for 23 yards

Arizona Cardinals-

John Skelton- 106.2 qb rating, 7/11, 55 yards, 1td, 0 int, 1 carry for 18 yards
Ryan Williams- 14 attempts, 88 yards and 1 td.
Andre Roberts- 1 rec for 21 yards and a td
Patrick Peterson- 2 tackles and 2 Int, 1 int td.
Larod Stephens-Howling- 1 kick return for 102 yard td.

And Blade i don't want to be blaming you or saying you were trying to be cheap with that squib kick before half, but it came off as very cheesy. The score was 17-3, you had just scored with 3 seconds left in the half. You called a kicking formation, we came out it looked like you were about to kickoff. Then you called timeout and then came out and squibed it toward the sideline, recovered and kick a field goal. Seemed very intentional

This is banned. We have been explicitly clear on this several times in the thread. It is also in the rules.

Blade, you have a warning. Next time it's a strike. Don't do it again.

Even if it wasn't somehow intentional (I'm preempting the excuse), a very easy remedy would be to punt it right away or take a knee--which would accomplish the same thing as a squib should be used for anyway.

this is a good idea.ive had someone squib down the middle hit my guy and the ball bounce 15 yards up the field and them get it... mayb if.u recover a squib u have to punt and it will stop people from intentionally tryin to recover

I liked 2K12. Haven't played enough of 2K13 to compare the two.

I'm interested in a sim style league, 15-20 games (can't remember the exact options the game gives), 5-7 minute quarters, and playing as my Chicago Bulls. :)

Crazy thing is in the game I played against the Vikings (Blade3D) I actually did this prior to the talks about the squib, I squibbed it because he returned back to back kick offs when I recovered the squib I was shocked but didn't feel that was fair so I punted it out the back of the endzone to him.

It's either 14 or 29 games , depending how active people plan on being 29 would be fun but 14 might be more realistic , even though some nights I get four to five games in

Not to derail this thread, but shotgun Knicks! Brooklyn would be a far 2nd choice.

ON TOPIC: Pats-Jets going down at 7pm today, as the Jets look for their first win of the season against their divison rival.

I think we could manage 29 games. Give everyone a game against each user.

Indeed. Though to be fair I never threw to him much either when I had them. They've just got so many weapons.

nah it makes any teams not user filled be computer filled so I would prefer a full league , I can't beat the CPU on Hall of Fame assuming we play on Hall of Fame

Yeah that was a typo. I meant a full league where everyone gets one match against each user. I'll set it up later this evening.

Can't do nothin without that KD cheddar? :D

Setting up the league OP now. It's fantasy, hall of fame, 7 minute quarters, best of 5 format throughout the playoffs.

Bseti, I got you marked down as well.

Patriots pull of a 4th qtr. comeback at home against the Jets. The Jets defense stunned the patriots for the first 3 quarters of the game, but it was a different story in the 4th when the Patriots defense came out to play starting with a pick by Sterling Moore. Brady then took the field and struggled to convert on three plays. With time at a minimum the Patriots went for it, converting on an enormous catch by Aaron Hernandez in the end zone for a touchdown. On the next series the Patriots defense came out strong again, with a pick by Jerod Mayo at midfield on third down taking it down to the red zone, and setting up a short rushing touchdown for Ridley.

--GG Ubernes great defense and good job with Rivers...it seemed like you could complete it at will for a while.
Massive, huge-ass blockbuster trade alert:

Denver Broncos
QB Peyton Manning (90 OVR) -36 - 5 years remaining - $17.0M 2012
TE Jacob Tamme (80 OVR) - 27 - 3 years remaining - $2.5M 2012
CB Tony Carter (69 OVR) - 26 - 1 year remaining - $610K 2012

for:

Cleveland Browns
CB Joe Haden (91 OVR) - 23 - 3 years remaining - $7.67M 2012
QB Brandon Weeden (76 OVR) - 28 - 4 years remaining - $1.65M 2012
TE Alex Smith (71 OVR) - 30 - 1 year remaining - $850K 2012

If the deal goes through, the Broncos will bring the Manning era to a sudden end, showing their faith on rookie Brock Osweiler while also adding a huge piece to their secondary. Cleveland finally finds their QB answer in Manning, while also bringing along one of his favorite receiving options.
And this is why trading is getting old and stupid
And this is why trading is getting old and stupid
Yea I hate trades and when its a superstar like manning or even when someone trades one of their higher rated players it just makes in worse.

No offense man, but it seems like your only participation in the thread anymore is just to pop in here once a week to make essentially this same comment. I get that you don't like trading, but many of us find it fun. Little asides like this really aren't constructive. If you have a more substantive point to make on the topic, by all means make it.

Fiar enough and my forum time has decreased by a ton since I started grad school. I love this league and playing with all you guys! I enjoy it because we all play like the "real" NFL and I dont have to deal with any of the BS with other madden players.

I think trading is fun, but I thought the entire point of the league was to be accurate with everything (like last season with traded draft picks) but its getting to the point now where by next season most of the teams will look completely different. It wont keep me from playing, but if we let trades happen at this rate we should just open up the FA pool.

I know I might be in the minority, but its how I feel. I like playing as the Bears vs. The Packers, but not if the Packers starting QB is someone other than Aaron Rodgers. It loses some of the magic of playing Madden.

Also, Bears vs. Lions is going down tomorrow night.

Not everyone loves trades, I get that. You're not the only one, and you're certainly entitled to that opinion.

But I don't personally feel that the league got any less fun last season as many of the teams started to resemble their real-life components less and less. Playing GM can be just as rewarding as playing coach, and for a lot of people it's actually even more fun. And really, if we wanted to keep the same teams we might as well just play 5 1-season franchises instead of 1 5-season one, right? ;)

this is pretty funny lol
I mean, when the guy who's made more trades than anyone is saying he hates trades, you've got to at least hope there's a touch of irony. :D
