I don't think this got its own thread, not sure if it was mentioned in the Heath Ledger thread or not.. This was honestly the first time I've heard about it. Montel made some comments on FoxNews, basically saying he was sick of the airtime that Heath Ledger's death was receiving (and I agree). This happened on January 26th.

Shortly before his contract renewal was declined, Montel appeared on an episode of a Fox News program, where, in light of the media blitz surrounding Heath Ledger’s death, he suggested that the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq deserved more coverage.
Upon receiving news of the cancellation, Williams said, “I can't say thank you enough to those who've welcomed me into their homes for the past 17 years. It has been both an honor and a joy.”
A former decorated officer in the U.S. Navy, Montel launched his eponymous program in 1991. In 1996, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
