walmart.com has put up a 10.00 egift card and exclusive "character" (likely alt costume like other stores) along with their Mortal Kombat preorders. Applies only to the regular edition.

Remember folks, with these walmart.com deals you pay for the egift card _immediately_, not when the preorder ships. It can also be used immediately if you feel like chaining a bunch of preorders together. Feel free to submit to Amazon to price match if you're so inclined!

Mortal Kombat

For anyone that doesn't know, preorder costumes at other stores are:
Gamestop - classic Scorpion
Best Buy - classic Sub-Zero
Amazon - classic Reptile

I wonder if they are going to include this as DLC later on, it's really becoming a pain now. I don't want to have to pre-order in all these places just to try and get a code.

I forgot where I read but people in EU are getting Ermac.

im getting the KE.. but i dont mind waiting until the price of the KE drops... im just afraid that it will be sold out and literally limited...

I have the same worry. If it doesn't sell out I'm positive the $100 price tag won't hold.

I don't even like the MK games but I LOVE how that Sub-Zero/Scorpion book holder looks so I'll probably buy the KE and sell the game.

I can't wait for this game. MK is one of my favorite game franchises of all time. However, I'm not really looking to spend $100-$150 on the Kollector's or Tournament Editions. I'll be happy with the stand-alone game. I'll remember this offer, but I'll wait till we get closer to launch and see what other incentives are out there.

There are only gonna be 200k copies (confirmed in the Midway forums).

This is the first time we've been getting a solid figure on something like that (most supposed "Collector/Limited" editions just have representatives say it's simply "limited), and considering it'll sell a couple of mill total in the US, it's bound to be rare. Besides, arcade sticks usually hold up their value. Heck, even the generic SF4 one retails for like $80 doesn't it? So that price + the $60 for the game sounds reasonable IMO.

Still, I'm also scared it'll have a price drop.

I have yet to decide on which version to get... Reptile though is prob my fav character so I will prob jump on amazon. (they will prob only add gc to the regular version)

"Only" 200K copies? For something limited that is a fuckton.

Are you getting confused between the collector's edition and tournament edition? 200k tournament edition sounds like waaaay too much. Even 200k collector's edition is really aggressive considering the $100 price tag.

Judging by the pricing history of Madcatz sticks, many of them eventually go on sale for ~50%. Madcatz sticks can be used for more than just SFIV which helps them retain value too.

The thing that is interesting to me about the stick is the use of American-style parts (Happ), rather than the Madcatz sticks which use Japanese-style parts (Sanwa). Too bad the button layout is so specialized. I can't justify spending so much on one game.

Kinda want this game but not really at this price, even with $10 credit. Hopefully it'll be 50% off in 3 months and another 50% off 3 months after that like most of the games thesedays. However, the last MK game MK vs DC took a long time to hit bottom.

I hate the idea of only being able to get different characters by pre-ordering. I really hope I can unlock those other characters in game.

I have never used a wal-mart egift card before. I wanted to know if I could pre-order Mk9 get the gift card, then use it on MK9 when the game ships?

Because I really doubt I will want anything else from wal-mart in the future.

I hope all these DLC characters become available in game or something, I don't want to pre order multiple copies and then return them all just to get the DLC.

I dont think they will be available as unlockables in game. That would make no senses considering that these are preorder DLC items. They may release them on the marketplaces as paid DLC for people that did not preorder. I would imagine this the most plausible because they already plan on DLC characters in the future and there is even a DLC slot on the character select screen.
The pre-order bonuses aren't actually characters, it's just a retro costume and a fatality. I wouldn't fret over it.
Also, you can recieve those extras by playing through the challenge tower. The only thing the pre-order gives you is to unlock these skins before going through the game to actually earn them.

More and more these pre-order bonuses are lame! and hardly worth the pre-order premium. Really, find the best deal and forget the bonus

That said, I did order via Newegg because I have a bunch of old college buddies coming around the week in launches and we plan on playing for nostalgia purposes otherwise I would never have pre-orderd and would have waited a few months for the price to drop

oh man thats a relief i was worrying about where to order because of the costumes/fatalities, now i'm free to order wherever. where did you hear this anyway?

If this is actually confirmed, I will be ecstatic.

Hmm, interesting .. I guess that would make sense for the Costumes / alternate fatalities. The past graveyards have been pretty expansive, so they would need to put alot of that type of content in to stay competitive with past games.

Either way, I'll be grabbing the new Blu-ray release of the original Mortal Kombat on the 19th as well, which comes with another skin and fatality pack ... and is currently only $12.99 on Amazon right now!

i never liked the costume design direction of the mortal kombat ninjas after MK2, it got kinda ridiculous and way to flashy...the retro costume is very welcome. they also said DLC characters are definite in the new future so I'd imagine Mileena is probably one of those DLC's you can buy. You can always trade retro costumes with other ppl as well since they probably come via DLC code.

I preordered from BB since I had a ton of reward zone points, and preordering from Walmart for my buddy. woo!

I just ordered the TE, suprised Wal-Mart and Best Buy still have them in stock. Too bad I couldn't get it from Amazon as I had $110 in credit with them. The hard part was choosing Sub Zero or Mileena for the bonus. I chose Mileena.

I figured with only 20k being made, I'll just sell the arcade stick for the same price as I bought the bundle for = free game and content. I love MK and have been around easily since day 1 (Mortal Monday anyone?), although as of the late games I've been geared more towards my SF side.

At this point, and after the demo, I think I'm just going to sell the stick and never use it. If I really NEED a stick, I'll get one I can piece together myself. I'm pretty sure the limited TE sticks are going to go for a pretty penny, and I've seen too many other TE/CE sticks still go for a good price, not passing this one up.

Anyone notice that if you search for Mortal Kombat on Walmart's site, the DLC character in the product listing before you click the link is "Molina" ... now I definitely know where I'm preordering from ...
