I want 1 of these games.

im going to the store today and going to trade in 4 games and pre order or get 1.

i dont have online i only care about the 1 player gaming which is the best for that

im leaning toward Def Jam i hear the single player is huge.

Well, I have Def Jam and at first I didn't really like it much. But now, it's grown on me and is a decent fighter. I'm not really into fighters TOO much, but it's decent. I also preordered MK:Deception. Hopefully it'll live up to the hype.....I have LIVE though. I heard DOA:U is geared towards live, so who knows.....They have always been ddecent though

If you aren't playing online, skip DOA:U, just pick up DOA3 on the cheap. Between the other two, I'd personally pick MK way over DJ, but I also cannot stand the Def Jam series (characters, controls, style, massive commercialization, etc).. whereas I'm a longtime fanboy of MK.

cool. i am off to trade in 3 games and get Def Jam. i cant wait to play as Lil Flip tonight. so cool i love hip hop.

I'd say get Def Jam. It's a really fun game. The game has weapons now and crowd interaction. The crowd will actually help beat on both competitors! I enjoyed the last Mortal Kombat game, but Def Jam controls better than the last MK game IMO. Get Def Jam, then DOA: U, then MK.

All three will be great but Def Jam is out NOW.

You don't want any of that....you want Guilty Gear 2 #Reload. Great fighting game, Xbox Live play and only $20 to boot!

Apparently you didn't read the part about him not having online, though GG X2 is a fine game by all standards, yet it's even more fun with more than one person. Actually all fighting games now that I think about it, my suggestion would be to skip fighting games altogether if you are only going to play by yourself. But if you must get one I'd suggest MK Decpetion because from the sounds of things there is a boatload of cool unlockables, plus like Kombat Chess and such.

I gotta agree on MK:D. There is a whole lot for a single player to do. And besides the basic fighting, Puzzle Kombat, and Chess, they've got that huge "Konquest Mode" which is designed for 1 player only.

I'll be getting DOA:U also, but if I had to pick just one it would definitely be MK.

I think its funny that after two replys the op already decided to get def jam despite having been recommended otherwise. So much for the value of our advice.

??? The first reply was "I didn't like Def jam at first, but now I think it's great" and the second reply was "Don't get DOA, I don't like Rap, so get MK because I'm a big fanboy". So that's on vote for DJ, and and one vote against DOA, not 2 votes against DJ.

Me? I'd get Def Jam. MK is going to go GH, so you'll be able to pick it up for $20 within 6 months (after sales). Most likely the same with DefJam, but I think you'll be able to get in, get your playing in, and get out (sell pre-owned) before the price drops on it too much. Unless you're going for the MK Collectors Edition version.

DOA Ultimate. Even offline, plus it'll be the highest price for the long run and its MFSRP for now is $54.99

i got Def Jam. i have guilty gear x2 its sweet also

def jam is hard to play but im getting used to it. its cool and the graphics are sweet. i like it its a sweet game

I'd say get Mortal Kombat: Deception. Mostly because of its replay value with all the extra features, plus it looks like a solid game. DOA is pretty much ment for online gaming this time around and since you won't be doing that you should just pick up the DOA 3(like someone else mentioned already). And Def Jam....I'm not a fan of it at all. To me, gameplay is most important. And characters are second. But a fighting game revolves around its characters and I don't find Def Jams interesting at all. It is way too commercialized like someone mentioned previously.

The MK Kollector's edition will probably hold it's price even better.

I dont even have Live or this game on Xbox (but i do have it for PS2) and can say this is your best pick.....

heres to help:

-DOA:U only if ur a really big fan of the DOA series and want to imerse urself in it (like me)

-MK:D If you want alot more simple fighting game (in other words... an american Fighting game) but with tons of unlockables and hours of stuff.

-Def Jam (dont know... never played it... though i can say its cool to play as Snoop Dogg)

-GG:Reloaded if you like a good 2d figher (best playing 2d fighter, other than SNK's games, in my opinion) and alot of hours to play through everyones story (every1 has at least 3 stories for 20 characters = over 60 endings).

just trying to help.

If you like hip hop you have to get Def Jam. It is a pretty good fighting game, sort of half fighter, half wrestling game (it has a heavily modified AKI fighting system). I'm personally going to get MK:Deception too, because I have to get every decent fighting game that comes out. That and the last one was pretty fun, and since they have taken out a lot of the cheap tactics from the last one so it only looks like it can go up.

Between MK and DOA, get MK. DOA games are all so similar and this one is a remake of earlier DOA games. MK online will bring me back 10 years, being able to talk trash to my friends when I pull off a tough fatality....

And dont forget the "arcade perfect" version of Mortal Kombat 1 8)

Just wondering, does anyone know if that MK1 is supposed to be online? I'm assuming it's not, but you never know. No biggie if it isn't.

I don't believe MK1 is online, no.

Still, out of those three I'd go with MK:D, you'll probably get the longest play-life out of it since there is so much to unlock. I know DOAU will have a lot of unlockable costumes and stuff, but MK:D will have costumes, characters, artwork, videos, etc.

To the poster above who suggested MK:D is more "simple" than DOA...I do not agree. DOA is the most basic fighter I've every played. Just because it's got a Japanese staff working on it doesn't mean it's not simple.

When I first bought DOA2 on the Dreamcast, I was busting out crazy looking reversals and moves in no time. That's not a BAD thing, but I'm just saying that the control scheme and play style of DOA is very simplistic and easy to pick up and play. I'd say MK's style since Deadly Alliance came out is somewhat deeper, especially since each fighter can switch between three totally different styles in mid-match.
