Details have been revealed on the Mortal Kombat HD Kollection. It is not PS2 remakes. It is the classic games in HD on PS3. It was previously up on GS before being removed and had a release date of Nov 16 and price of $39.99

Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat 2
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

May have 3d support, but no other details known at this time.

I really wish I hadn't sold Mortal Kombat Trilogy... that's the best MK you can have.. everyone was in it.

Do we know this includes the demo and they did not really do these in 3D? It can't be too hard if PS2 remakes are being done in 3D. But I'll edit to indicate possibly in 3D since you may be right.

The cover is pretty cool. I enjoyed playing MK, but not a big enough fan to actually buy this. I'm sure this will have online support

Aside from the 3D, any reason why this won't be on the 360 as well? It's not part of the PS2 HD line or anything. My only guess is it'd have to be on multiple discs and it's just not worth it.

doubtful as the original games were mb's at best... 3d wont add that much size...

Awww fuck, now I ruined it. I had a topic on KAG about challenging me to KOMBAT. It was a rather enjoyable topic with several people that challenged me to KOMBAT.

I dunno, I was just throwing out ideas. I imagine if these are all remastered in 1080P they'll likely be more than just a few MB's. Plus it supposedly comes with a demo of MK9 which could be over a gig. Anyway since people disagree with one idea I thought of, does anyone have any reason why these wouldn't be on the 360 too then?
 
From one of the interviews, it looks like they're completely redoing the games. They called in new actors to mocap the moves. This is going to piss off some fans though. But tech when these games were like 640-480 at BEST and had to be cut back down. Plus Boon lost the source code to all the games. Sounds like a complete rework if we're truly lucky.
 
This might explain why this game appears to only be on PS3. Kratos is rumored to be in the other new MK. Maybe Sony offered Kratos in exchange for this being exclusive.

WTF how did Boon lose the source code. :wall: It's a good thing these games are easy to emulate. I would like the originals included and them redone fully as an option. What upsets me about losing the source code is that it should be preserved.

Yeah, which i enjoyed the MK4 characters quite a bit, especially before they got trashed it up in subsequent MKs (Reiko, anyone?). actually, I don't mind they're redoing these, but I'd hope that they copy the SF games and go 2.5D or whatever as 1-3 really shined as 2D games like Street fighter.
 
I loved the old MKs but $40 for HD versions of a couple of 2D fighting games seems like a lot. Hopefully they load it up with bonus content and whatnot.
 
Hope they fix MK2 as the two characters who were the strongest withuot a doubt were Mileena and Jax. Plus I hope they fix the size proportions which was a limitation of the day. Why is it that Jax was freaking huge, yet has the sprite size of people so much smaller?
 
I just read the news that Kratos is rumored to be in the PS3 version. If so that would be really sweet. Makes me wonder if we might see Marcus Fenix curb stomping or chainsawing someone in half in the xbox 360 version.

Won't be the first time, nor the last, Sega has lost source code over the years, as well as many other companies as well.

When its stored on floppys or older HDD's it's no surprise stuff like that happens, especially when you don't have guidelines set up for archiving stuff like that in place, which I know many of these companies did not at the time.
