My PSP faceplate is scratched...what do I do?

Yeah, so I got a PSP used for Christmas and there is some noticable scratches on the faceplate. Can't notice it when the screen is turned on, but when under some light or when the screen is off, it's really noticable. Is there any way to take the scratches off the faceplate? I know you can get new faceplates, but the only ones I've found have a plastic covering over the screen as opposed to the glass one that comes with the PSP. I want one with the glass over it :(. I called Sony about it and they could replace the entire system for $135 happily, so I happily passed that down. I read that you could use Brasso to take some of the scratches off with an alcohol cloth. I tried that and it didn't really help all that much. The scratches aren't deep or anything, there's just a number of them.

Any help?
 
Might want to try some Brasso.** It's a polish used to bring tarnished brass back to its original luster, but jewelers have been using it for generations to remove fine scatches in watch faces and jewelry. Recently people have used it with remarkable results to remove scratches on their easily scratchable iPod Nanos.

How would you remove these faceplates? Wouldn't removing it have dust trapped under the screen?
 
Ok..is the screen attached to the faceplate? From what I understand, I thought that on the sleek black faceplate the PSP has on it when you buy it, a glass screen was part of the faceplate and that the actual screen was under thatglass part of the faceplate. I mean, the main issue is that on the part that is over the screen/the screen itself has scratches. And I want no scratches.
 
And I have no warranty since I bought the PSP from a third party as opposed to in a store. At least according to Sony.
 
does anyone know if the Hori screen protectors fit on those different colored faceplates? the blue/white ones look cool, but it looks like the edges around the screen looked raised.

So you got it used?
If so the guy should have written a reveiw on the product, right? If so and he said it had a scratch I think your best bet is getting off. Somehow. But if he didn't say that Id return it to the guy or person who got for you. Or just have the Christmas Spirit.
