Namco Museum DS...including Pac-Man Vs.!!!

Add another DS game to the stack. Pac Man vs online would be even better!

Love the holy diver art, btw. I have that album on vinyl just for the art.

I'm from the lovely pit of michiana too.. not far from berrien springsish area.

Hmm, I'm planning on picking up Namco Museum for the GBA next week since CC has it for $5. They both have Galaga and Galaxian in them, but for the GBA has Ms. Pac Man, Pole Position (which I really enjoy for some reason), and the first Dig Dug so I think I'll pick it up anyway. I figured a DS compilation was inevitable but at least it's different enough that the GBA one is still worth getting.

All it needs is Download Play for Pac-Man VS. and High score saving, and I'm totally sold on it.
EDIT: Download play for Pac-Man Vs. was confirmed by GameSpot

pacman vs. makes this go from a title that i would normally ignore to a title i will likely get sometime. the question is, do i get it at launch for 20 or wait for it to go to 10... too bad pac man vs will almost certainly not be a wifi game, thatd make a day 1 purchase for me

how about picking up at launch for $15 after using gamer's gift card?

Galaga is ALWAYS awesome. I will always buy Galaga.

Once the price drops. I cannot justify $15 for ANOTHER Galaga.

Is Pac-Man Vs. good?

It's weird that they left out Ms Pac Man (kind of a staple in the Namco museums).

I like the smaller form factor of the DS games but feel a little silly buying the same classic games over and over.
I guess I've been out of the loop, what's the big deal about Pac Man vs?
Its a version of Pacman designed by Shigeru Miyamoto thats multiplayer. I think four people each play as a ghost trying to catch pacman. Im not sure if a 5th person can play Pacman or not tho... and the DS version will allow four players to play with only one cart.

It's actually one player as Pac-Man and up to three players as ghosts in the GC version. The original Pac-Man had four ghosts but perhaps Miyamoto felt that three human-controlled ghosts were enough.

Or that there were only 4 controller ports in the GC. :p

Or that.

That'll teach me to never again post on CAG 10 minutes after waking up.

i think 4 ghosts would be kind of ridiculously weighted against pac-man
That's why only Pac-Man can see the entire game field at once, and the ghosts are limited in their field of vision.
Well, there's that but I'm not sure if 4 ghosts would change it too much. Whenever Pacman is caught by a ghost, whoever was playing as the ghost gets to be Pacman in the next round. Even though the game might be heavily weighted against Pacman, it's not always the same player controlling him.

As an aside, the winner is the first person to get to X points, and ghosts don't earn points. Thus, the way to win is to eat a lot of dots/ghosts when you're playing as Pacman, and to try to catch Pacman quickly when you're a ghost. This leads to some interesting teamwork, as the ghost team wants to catch Pacman quickly, but each individual ghost wants to be the one to catch him.

It's a great game. For $15 after GGC, this is a no-brainer to me.
