I've bought 2 microwaves in the last month that have both bombed out on me. One was an Emerson from Target, and another was (I forget the brand) from Sears. I had no idea that you needed to do research on this sort of thing, I though they just worked.

Anyway, its got to be a counter top, preferably black with no Stainless Steel and a decent wattage. Also, it would really help if it was available through B&M because I have a fridge full of hot pockets and I don't want to wait for shipping.

I'm sure someone has bought microwaves recently for college or moving into a new place. Anyone have any suggestions?

First things first: get those hot pockets out of the fridge and into the freezer.

Microwaves can usually take a brutal beating, I don't even know how it would be possible to kill 2 in one month unless your microwaving metal on a daily basis. Go back to Target or Wal-Mart and try getting a slightly better brand-name like Sharp, GE, or Panasonic.

Emerson, Euro-Pro, and Magic-Chef (and the likes) seem to be the ones that are a bit on the flaky side.

Ruling out the 90% Stainless-Steel selection, this black GE looks nice from Wal-mart:

1,100 watts 1.1cubic feet, $64, 4.5 star average from 21 customer ratings...
Honestly, go to Costco. Buy the badass stainless steel Panasonic one. If it ever craps on you, Costco will replace it.
That's what I have. Best microwave I ever bought.
